"We previously visited Altuna three years ago and had a great meal, so decided that on our return to San Sebastian we would go there again. We were not disappointed. Our visit was on Saturday the 22ndApril, and we’re so glad we booked in advance, as it just got busier and busier as the evening wore on. We were served by Paloma, who was very professional and gave us great advice on the selection of our dishes, including a recommendation for my wife to reverse the order of her starter and main, so as to start with the lighter of the two dishes. Throughout the evening she looked after us so well, and despite being run off her feet, she was happy to stop and chat with us. She’s a credit to the restaurant. We started with the Garlic Soup, and the smoked salmon with guacamole, and for mains I had grilled red tuna, and my wife had the grilled eggs with ham and confit potatoes. The food was exceptional, as was the presentation, and from where we sat, we could watch the chef meticulously prepare and assemble the beautiful plates of food. The Tuna was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed different wines and ordered these by the glass. There isn’t a huge choice this way, but it was more than adequate, and the prices were very good. All in all, a great meal in a very nice setting, with excellent service."
