"We had a very positive experience until the last half hour. The food was delicious and the service was attentive at the beginning, but once we’d finished our main courses it all started unravelling. For a restaurant this expensive, I’d expect them to clean the table properly before desserts, but there was still bits of rice everywhere when they handed over the dessert menu only one for five of us. The dessert menu was tiny only three options) and I got the distinct impression that they didn’t want us to stay for pudding at all they wanted us to leave so they could get someone else in and flog them some cocktails and a peking duck £110 for a whole one). As it was a special occasion we decided to have pudding anyway, but one pudding was missing and we were still eating when they brought the bill. It was my husband’s birthday and I saw other tables being brought special birthday desserts and we were not even though I had noted that we were there for a birthday celebration on the booking. When we finally got the special pudding it was swept away from us while we were still eating it and I had to ask for it to be returned. I get that they have a time limit on tables. If a restaurant can serve me a three course meal in a seamless relaxed way in two hours then that’s fine, but Hutong proved that they couldn’t. When the bill was almost £600 it was annoying to be asked to pay it before I had finished eating. I won’t hurry to return."

"As a group we have been here many times over several years. Generally a nice vibe and good beers. Was let down on Fri 10 Jun 22. Reserved table wasn't set out and didn't seem to have a record of the booking made on line (not a problem as wasn't busy); was told one of the bar staff was off sick so they were short handed. Wasn't a problem. Ordered food and I questionned Jessica why I was charged £2.50 more than the menu price of £7.50 for a sharing plate of nachos. She passed me over to another barman who told me the menu was printed wrong. I said they should sell it at the advertised price. I was told if I paid £7.50 I would not get a sharing plate's worth of nachos. I said that was illegal and again suggested to the barman they should sell as advertised or tell people its £10 nog £7.50 when they order as their menu is wrong. Barman wasn't having any of it so I backed off to stop this spoiling our night out. Tried ordering some wine but was told their till system hadn't got all the prices entered right so choise was restricted. A pain, but we could live with that. But on balance, we are going to look for a new venue after many years of being happy here. The booking going missing was not a problem, £2.50 itself isn't the problem, not being able to order the wine you want isn't a problem, but the barman's attitude is! If he is the manager, there lies the problem."
