"We had our Christmas day lunch here this Christmas just gone. Although the overall experience was quite nice, we (2 of us) were very disappointed, when the main course arrived, to find the turkey was very salty, and the veg (because it was plated up before it came out which I thought was unusual for a restaurant of this standard) consisted of 2 small broccoli florets, just THREE brussel sprouts, THREE slices of carrot, and NONE of the traditional parsnips. For £73 a head we were very disappointed."

"Although the restaurant has high chairs, which might suggest that they cater to children, my wife's recent visit with her family proved otherwise. Despite checking the menus online beforehand, they were informed upon arrival that the online menus were outdated. This meant that the items they had intended to order were no longer available. When my wife requested a children's menu, she was told that they did not have one and would have to order from the regular menu instead. She chose beans on toast for our 3-year-old, but was then informed that it was not possible as breakfast service had ended 20 minutes prior and the toaster had already been put away. Their only options for the child were expensive bagels or baguettes, which we knew our picky eater would not likely eat. The unhelpful staff and lack of response to our message to the business personally were disappointing. While we like to support local businesses, it is important for them to prioritize customer care. Unfortunately, we do not plan on returning to this restaurant anytime soon."

"Cafe site and notices on the door say open 10 4 seven days a week. Arrived in cafe on a Monday and male staff member said to us we don't open Mondays haven't done for ages. His address to us was in a tone that suggested we were stupid for not knowing this. I feel we could be forgiven our lack of understanding of this given the fact of the notices and that there were several people sat around with drinks. An apologetic reception would have seemed more appropriate. Treatment of this type is not what I would expect at any café. Given the ethos of Ruskin this is doubley bad. Can't comment on food or drink as got no chance to sample it. All in all I do not see us subjecting ourselves to such Treatment again."

"I ordered Fish and Chips and Chicken Salsa from this restaurant. The Fish and Chips were only available on the small plate menu, as they do not serve them on the main menu. When my Fish and Chips arrived, I was shocked at how small the portion was. I even asked the waitress if it was a child's portion. She said no, it's small because it's on the small plate menu and cost £8.95. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told that they do not set the prices or portion sizes and that it's hard to get fish. However, I have been to chip shops where they serve decent portions at a reasonable price. I asked for my feedback to be passed on to the manager, but was informed that she already knows. It seems like there have been a lot of complaints but they don't seem to care. Save your money and go somewhere else."

"Very disappointed as had been recommended The Tipputs and it was our 1st Wedding Anniversary. My starter was completely different to how it was described on the menu. Should have been Wood Pigeon breast on black pudding mash with red wine jus. It came out as a wood pigeon breast with some sort of pickled white cabbage and mustard sauce. I queried this and instead of re plating correctly, I was just brought a little bowl of black pudding mash. I had ordered King Prawns in garlic butter with salad and fries for my main. The dish came out and we were asked if we wanted sauces. I requested salad dressing and the waitress responded 'what? ' so I repeated my request and was brought another bowl with a teaspoon of salad dressing in it. I realised I had no fries so again had to check the menu to make sure I had not been mistaken another trip to the bar to request the missing fries. The plate was cold, the prawns were luke warm and mushy. As the prawns were 'shell on ' I really could have done with a finger bowl. My husband had Rack of Lamb with very little Lamb. We had been advised it would be cooked 'pink ' which would have been perfect except it wasn 't, it was over done. Horribly over priced for the quality of food. We did get a small discount off the bill but even at that price, we felt robbed!"

"The burgers and onion rings at this restaurant are delicious, and they have a good variety of beers and ciders to choose from. However, like many trendy chains, the prices are a bit high."

"Visited last night for a birthday meal and can say the welcome and atmosphere was great! Made to feel valued from arrival till leaving, it’s a family run pub and that shows with the love and care given to all, so friendly especially nice that they take time to talk to everyone The food was delicious and all my allergies were catered for without any issues. My son phoned with a special birthday request ‘could they make a gluten free vegan dessert, if possible’ and honestly the chefs excelled with a zillionaire chocolate torte and candle .. this should definitely be added to the menu .. it was delicious! Compliments to the chef and everyone working there for making my 60th birthday meal an evening we will talk about for years! If you are passing or moored at Saul junction.. it’s a lovely 15 min flat walk from canal to pub and well worth it! Highly recommended Thanks again, we will be back!"

"Another delicious meal at The Pavillion. We usually dine-in as we like to make an occasion of eating such delicious food. I particularly appreciate the table linen, it makes the whole dining experience so special. Last evening we ordered Chicken Tikka, Vegetale Curry, Plain Boiled Rice, Jeera Gost, Pilau Rice, Garlic and Corriander Naan and Popodoms with dips to start, all freshly cooked and couteously served. We have been dining at The Pavillion since it opened in this location after moving from above The Old Neighbourhood Inn. Relatives of ours who have travelled the world and lived and worked in many eastern countries say it is one of the best places for a curry that they have experienced. Brimscombe, Stroud is so fortunate to have such a good Indian Restaurant and Takeaway."

"Absolutely terrible! I ordered the Thai Fried Chicken and Sweet Sour Chicken Pad Thai, hoping for the crispy, flavorful chicken we enjoyed at the Saturday Farmers Market. Unfortunately, it was nothing like that. It had no flavor and was bland and soggy. The Pad Thai was equally flavorless. This was one of the worst meals I've ever had—I ended up throwing it away because I couldn't eat any of it. Seriously, do NOT go here. If you're looking for great Thai food, I highly recommend visiting the Saturday Farmers Market at Stroud, where there's a fantastic Thai stall!"

"My friend and I have tried the vegan veggie burger multiple times and it is always delicious. The manager recently offered us two options of vegan pukka pies (chicken mushroom or minced steak and onion), and they were both extremely tasty! He is expanding the vegan menu to include burgers, pies, and sausages. Vegan food enthusiasts should keep an eye out for these additions! Additionally, the manager is always friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"A small but enchanting cafe with delicious food and pleasant ambience. It’s not large and you won’t get a 3 course meal but if you just want a delicious cooked breakfast or maybe a “doorstep” bacon sarnie then this is the place for you. There is also a large selection of cakes and the tea and coffee is perfect. Michelle , your host is a lovely lady who will cater for your every need. A nice added touch is the low level bacground music which adds to the relaxed atmosphere in this establishment. Well worth a visit if you are in this small town."

"We booked a table for sat night for 4 couples .We last visited the Prince 2 years ago and had the most awful meal after various stand in landlords had run the place into the ground we vowed never to return.I am glad we did return as the transformation is great lovely friendly landlord and land lady and we were looked after all evening by Steve what a great people person. We even met the chef and complimented him on the food served. The food was very tasty and presented nice and hot ,steaks ,gammon, chicken various dishes and all clean plates at the end.One of our party mentioned that it was the nicest meal he had ever had at the Prince .The new carpet and re decoration makes for a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely support the Prince and wish them all the best for the future nice to have our local back .See you soon keep up the good work ."

"I was impressed (as a Coeliac) to see there were tongs for cakes etc, labelled as gluten free tongs. The choice of gluten free cakes unwrapped and wrapped was good. Because of the gluten free tongs I felt safe having the unwrapped cake slices. However, the waitress who brought our tray put it on our table quite forcefully, did not make eye contact with us and did not utter a word to us. We were so taken aback. As she walked away my friend called out thank you but we received no response. Neither my friend nor I have ever experienced anything like this before. Even in the busiest of places (and this wasn't busy) you always get a comment such as here is your tray or hope you enjoy. The other waiting staff engaged with the people on tables they took trays to. Maybe this girl didn't like serving tables and doesn't like the public much. My suggestion is that she may be happier and more comfortable doing something different, maybe in the kitchen. We are hoping she didn't mean to be rude but just may have felt uncomfortable. We joined the Diamond Club and received an email invitation to comment/make suggestions about the garden centre and cafe. I reviewed both my review of the cafe (this one) was ignored but they were pleased I had enjoyed the garden centre. I was hoping they'd show some concern that their waitress came across rude since they'd invited the opportunity to hear about our experience."

"After waiting 3 hours, calling many many times (constantly engaged), my husband had to drive out and after hearing the order hadn’t evening been processed, we cancelled the order. Restaurant full of other customers in a similar position, and yet they are still taking more orders. We appreciate it’s a particularly busy night, so expected a wait, but stop taking orders or limit them if you can’t keep up."

"Having not been to the Mariners for an evening meal for a long time I now know why! Ordered the chilli as Chas Andrews makes a great one. We were told that there wasn 't any, okay we chose a sizzler chicken steak cooked medium to well with a pepper sauce. The meals arrived, the sauce was like water so sent them back, when cutting into the steak I 'm sure it mooed! I don 't mind pink but blood, not for me. Asked for them to be cooked a bit more, when they returned our steaks had been put on the wrong platters as we had both cut them before sending back, and had been microwaved! There was no way we could eat this disgusting meal. I asked the staff to see the chef Trevor was told if we can find him, he 's probably gone . When Trevor came out there was no apology told us he had put our steaks in the oven, really? Oh yes a microwave oven! Seriously Chas you need to sort this out as your chef is doing you no favours. The Mariners food was always great but never again!"

"Stayed overnight with dinner and breakfast the following morning. Lovely friendly welcome on arrival and a fabulously quirky room in the roof space. Dinner was delicious as was the accompanying beer and wine. The following morning and it would have been rude not to have the full English. Another delicious meal and set us up for the day. Chef and Mrs Chef run a great pub/restaurant with rooms. Why stay in a boring modern box when there is somewhere like this to stay."

"I ordered 1/4 aromatic crispy duck, chicken in black bean sauce, crispy shredded chili beef, egg fried rice, and extra sweet and sour sauce. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the quality of the food. The duck consisted of only 3 tablespoons of deep-fried bits in batter, the beef strips were not crispy despite a short car journey home, the rice seemed reheated and was not freshly cooked, and the sweet and sour sauce was gloopy. I had high hopes for a great takeaway experience after hearing about the previous one being dreadful, but I will not be returning."
