"Please ignore any negative reviews about this pub! We discovered it while out for a walk, and it has quickly become our favorite local hangout! The food is exceptional, but what really makes this place special is the landlady—she is incredibly warm and welcoming every time we come by. The service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is delightful and cozy. This is, without a doubt, my favorite pub in Buntingford! I’ve tried other pubs in the area since my family lives nearby, but none compare to the friendly welcome and quality food here. If you're looking for great food, top-notch service, and a cozy vibe, you have to check out The Fox in Aspenden! They also have a lovely garden for those sunny days. Honestly, there’s no reason to go anywhere else in Buntingford; the other pubs just don’t offer the same level of care that The Fox provides. It’s amazing—what more can I say!"

"this was a great place to stop, eat, drink and explore! I had two friends with me, one of whom is Australian and had never visited lacock. due to a misinterpretation of the menu she ordered a meal that when she arrived, although she was delicious, she did not like it. when the waiter came to delete the teller, he was worried that it was something wrong with the meal and when he was insured that no, it was just another meal to what she thought, and she was willing to pay for it, he refused to accept it and took it out of the bill, no arguments or protests. all waiting staff were friendly, charming and polite, my small plate of fish and chips (yummy) was more than big enough, and there was no problem when my friends went out of the exploration while I (lightly less capable) stayed in the shadow. I recommend this pub/hotel completely to anyone who visits lacock."

"Myself and my cousin both have dietary requirements that were very tricky to accommodate. However coming into JP the castle restaurant we were both so delighted after looking at the menu. I am vegan and my cousin is gluten free- there were actual choices as well and it’s the first time I’ve looked forward to something I’ve ordered out in a long time!. The service was impeccable. Staff were genuinely lovely and the atmosphere was cozy!. Not to mention the place itself is immaculately clean!. We then went back the next day for the vegan breakfast. The chef came out and checked with us about requirements and also any substitutes that could be added!!. I do not say this lightly- please go you won’t regret it!!. There is also loads of choices for a normal diet!!. Both of our mums were soooo happy and it made our time up in Inverness a memorable one!. Highly recommend!!"
