"this was a great place to stop, eat, drink and explore! I had two friends with me, one of whom is Australian and had never visited lacock. due to a misinterpretation of the menu she ordered a meal that when she arrived, although she was delicious, she did not like it. when the waiter came to delete the teller, he was worried that it was something wrong with the meal and when he was insured that no, it was just another meal to what she thought, and she was willing to pay for it, he refused to accept it and took it out of the bill, no arguments or protests. all waiting staff were friendly, charming and polite, my small plate of fish and chips (yummy) was more than big enough, and there was no problem when my friends went out of the exploration while I (lightly less capable) stayed in the shadow. I recommend this pub/hotel completely to anyone who visits lacock."

excellent eating! I had the outstanding mushroom risotto. my partner had pork. both are very tasty. hadn't actually stayed in the gas house. but can highly recommend the pub for eating and a pint or two.

The restaurant was the “lunch stop” on a guided day tour. Because the food was ordered in advance, everything went relatively quickly. The classic Fish Chip 's dish was tasty and a reasonable size. I really liked the atmosphere. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

I booked a table at the George a few days in advance for a family catch up with both parties having driven to Lacock we found the pub closed with no lights on! How ridiculous to have a booking system that let's you book a meal when the pub is closed! I received a confirmation email stating the booking was confirmed also! I was not informed of any issues that would result in the pub being closed! Very poor service. Food: 1 View menu

Visited the George Inn as we had noticed the sign as this being the oldest in the village. A coach load of people had just entered however we found a seat as the inn is a lot bigger on the inside. Very old interior and pleasant bar staff. There is also an outside sitting area at the back along with a car park. Entrance at the side of the pub. There was a few photos of William Fox Talbot which links to Lacock Abbey. Not the cheapest of pubs so only stayed for one drink but the prices are pretty much the same at the second pub in the village.

Haven't been to this pub for years. We were greeted by staff and quickly ushered to an empty table. Staff were very diligent and professional. Orders for drinks were taken quickly, and the 6X beer is a great recommendation; typical of this area. Food is the typical pub offerings but was excellent. I prefer a simple, no-nonsense menu of traditional food and this pub delivered. We had fish and chips. Gammon egg and chips and baked potato. All were fresh, hot and cooked well. We visited on Saturday, and it was ,as expected, quite busy but not unreasonable. Lovely old pub and well worth a diversion to the end of Lacock.
