"I hate writing not so nice reviews but this time I am doing it. I am only doing it because I really love Vitra, the passion and quality that they show in their products and campus. I believe they are the best in their field and I have been coming back to their campus several times per year... I even happen to own some nice chairs from them!...I have eaten many times at VitraHaus Cafe. It is a great place, really nice menu, good cakes and coffee, a bit slow on busy days but I will still recommend it 100%.However today I had a bad experience. I went with a couple of friends and with my wife and baby that is now 6 months. We arrived and ate at the cafe around 4, went for a walk on Vitra Haus, visited the museum "robot exhibition"and came back to VitraHaus to buy some things at the shop - everything went well. A few minutes before 6pm (closing time) we sat at the Cafe again because the baby was hungry and we asked if we could sit to quickly feed him and have a quick drink. the Cafe was still 50% occupied and we were told that we could have a sit but that they were about to close and therefore they would not serve us anything. We understood and immediately started feeding the baby that sat on my lap while my wife was holding his food and a spoon. Some minutes later a waitress starts going around the tables asking people to pay and leave since they had to close... We told her kindly that we would leave asap but we were obviously feeding our 6 month old baby... at 6:15pm we had almost finished giving the snack to our baby, some staff was cleaning up and there were other few customers still sitting. That was when another waitress approaches us and says "you have to leave immediately or I will call the security"... I was shocked with her attitude, specially because I was almost done feeding the baby and there was nothing wrong with us being there anyways...... I told her in a very friendly manner "please do! please call the security because we are not leaving until my baby finishes". Then she walked back to the counter quite upset saying to another staff member "we need to call the security". When I saw that happening I stood up and repeated my sentence so that all the staff and remaining customers could listen, something like "I am just trying to feed a baby... but please call the security because we are not leaving until he is done". After 2 or 3 minutes we were on our way to the car. We did not get anyone to apologize for what had happened and no one really cared.Despite this unpleasant episode I will go back and I will be recommending this place to others but the staff should behave more accordingly to the institution they represent - the amazing Vitra!"

"This small restaurant with bar is located in the basement of an old building as in really old, such as medieval, or nearly. Access is down a few steps, and the area is divided into a front room with bar and a few tables,...and a back room with some more tables which had been pushed into the form of a U for our party of about people; my husband's fitness club outing. One thing that made it cear to me that I would never go there by choice is that smoking is allowed inside. Fortunately there were no other patrons that evening except for our large group which did fill the pace and none of our party smokes, so I was spared that abomination. Our party had prechosen their food with the registration for the event, but I hadn't yet, since the three choices had been wienerschnitzel with either fries or some sort of dumplings which turned out to be somehting like short and somewhat plump noodles, or beef with those dumplings and red cabbage. When I asked the waitress for the menu I only got a funny look and the argument that the food had already been ordered. When I explained that I wished to have a vegetarian meal I got a sort of exasperated look and a well, you can have a salad then. Well, okay ... uhm ... I'd figured if it calls itself a restaurant ... you catch my drift ... anyhow, so salad it would have to be. The furniture, tables and chairs, are old and scratched, and the whole atmosphere is a bit forlorn. My salad, decent sized portion, granted, was served with the appetizer salad that went with the schnitzel meal. Those were delivered when people were still eating their salad; the beef dishes, without an appetizers, arrived when most people had fiished eating their schnitzels. I can see that serving such a decent sized party all simultaneously is a challenge, but again, if you call yourself a restaurant ... Th portions were large, and seconds were offered. The red cabbage I ate most of my husband's second helping of that was deliciousl freshly prepared. The meat, everybody agreed, was very tasty, the dumplings though not what they had expected, the fries good, and not oily. Dessert was ice cream with whipped cream. So, to sum it up, large portions of decent enough food for a very reasonbable price in a quaint place that lacks charm. Not the place for stylish dining, but itsure is differnet. Don't go if you're not a smoker, or if you're a vegetarian"

"My wife and I had dinner at this restaurant. First, let me say that I thought it was overpriced by American standards based on what you get. The photos make it appear that the buffet is very large and has a wide selection. Not true...by American standards. There is a tappanyaki grill as advertised. I took some raw shrimp and fried rice to the man to have him cook it, he told me he couldn't because it would burn. I asked the man did he know how to cook shrimp fried rice and although the rice was previously cooked, couldn't he just put the rice on the grill after the shrimp was cooked and just heat it on the grill for thirty seconds to a minute? The manager came by and told me the same thing, the rice would burn. I asked the manager if he ever been to St. Louis, Missouri in the USA. I asked because St. Louis has the best Chinese Food on the planet....don't ask me why but they do. The service was okay but for the price of 17 .95 Euros, I thought it was high. Lunch is 9.95 Euros and I probably would have given a better review at this price because that seems more appropriate for what you get. Also, drinks costs extra. About 2.50 Euro for soft drink. We paid 3.00 Euros for Green tea each. No Refills on drinks. I eat at a lot of Chinese Restaurants and buffets in the USA. This restaurant is subpar in my opinion and I did not care much for the food or the dinner selection. Again, this may be a better place for lunch rather than dinner, but I did not have lunch there. The restaurant is on the second floor, but there is an elevator and escalator inside the store within the shopping center where the restaurant is located."
