"Utterly shocked. Today I visited the venue with my mother and a friend. Once the secretary greeted us, we explained we were interested in the venue for my 21st birthday. We were told how “exclusive” and “boujee” the standard venue was, and how “expensive” at £50 per head. The continuous repetition of the word “expensive” was clearly an expression of the Secretary’s preconceived thoughts. After the girls third use of the word “expensive” I wanted to leave, however, my mother was polite and concluded the visit in a mannerly fashion. As a family, we used to dine in Citation, and believed the upstairs venue would be perfect for the festivities. Following my experience today it’s clear that the venue isn’t what it once was."
