"I alerted the hotel to my food intolerance (citrus fruit, causes migraines) at the time of booking, some 2 weeks prior to the event. On arriving, the lady serving looked at the note, and said Oh, I need to just talk to Chef about this ! At the time of arriving??? Chef should 've been alerted well in advance to make certain that all was citrus-free without an on-the-day panic about where citrus juice might be hiding in ingredients used. All cakes were bought-in, and frankly very dull. Two squares of victoria sandwich tray-bake with a little bit of squirty cream added to the top, and one square of a chocolate tray bake. Definitely from the Cash and Carry! The scones were also bought-in, and dusted with icing sugar to make them interesting !! A pot of tea was brought, but we had no cups and had to find a member of staff to get them. When we finished the one pot, we had to find a member of staff to get a refill! Our food was brought, but we had to ask for plates!!!!! NOBODY checked back to see if we needed anything, or if everything was OK. I 'm not blaming the one lady who was serving, as she was so overworked it was crazy, but seriously? A Best Western should be top-notch, not 3rd rate."
