"I had the gluten free option. I was given cheese and tomato, ham and tomato and egg and cress. My companion had salmon and cucumber instead of the cheese and tomato, which I would have liked. My scones were heavily dusted with raw flour which made them extremely dry to eat. This was a shame as they were otherwise ok. For cake I had an extremely sweet flapjack and a slice of treacle tart, also very sweet and no variety if you don’t like golden syrup. I know gluten free cooking is difficult but one or two tweaks would make a big difference. The tea was plentiful and the service very polite. The restaurant is immaculately clean and parts of it are pleasing but the area in the conservatory is laid out in precise straight lines and could be softened. At the time there was only us and one other party of three, I believe that if the restaurant was anywhere near full it would have been extremely noisy. The staff were pleasant and helpful and it wasn’t their fault that it was like taking tea on the Marie Celeste. We had been given a voucher so I don’t know exactly what was paid but I believe it to be reasonable value for money."

Afternoon tea was excellent and very good value. My only criticism was that the service was very poor. We had to go and ask for more coffee/tea.

Very pleasant elegant setting, very friendly staff together with a perfect afternoon tea also catering for personal requirements as one of the guests did not like salmon so swaps on sandwiches were easily catered for.

The best champagne afternoon tea I have had. Lovely fresh sandwiches, scones and cakes and plenty of choice of teas, coffees and hot chocolates and a nice big pot of each. So much food we had to take some of it home! Great service too!

This is the best afternoon tea I’ve had. The Connaught is a lovely hotel. All the staff are friendly and efficient. The afternoon tea has lots of food, too much if anything. The waiter was very good, he came back to ask if we wanted more tea and coffee and advised us about the gin menu.

Great value for money and very good food. We sat outside because the weather was nice but the little patio needs a bit of tlc new tables and chairs perhaps and felt a bit dirty (table covered in bird poo which was eventally cleaned off). Perhaps we could of been offered the option to go out into the back garden instead? However, food was excellent and staff attentive.

The restaurant where we sat was really lovely and our waitress was very attentive. We enjoyed the food a lot and the whole experience was lovely. My only complaint is that twice we were asked if we had a voucher. Once by the reception staff and then our waitress. We had 4 afternoon cream teas, 3 of which were Prosecco cream teas. We also ordered a bottle of Prosecco as well as some soft drinks. Our bill came to over £130 so in hindsight it would have been nice to have a voucher or maybe not asked twice , it makes you feel like you are missing out on a good offer!!

Very impressed, would recommend, tho can’t comment on value as was a gift. Afternoon tea taken at lunchtime. Even as a meal, we couldn’t eat it all. No problem taking remainder in boxes provided. Delicious. Beautiful hotel. Plenty of areas to sit. Interesting artworks. Great choice of gin at specific gin bar. Staff were really pleasant friendly and helpful but not over attentive. Relaxed. When we were there, Good Friday lunchtime, it was almost empty, which was surprising, but pleasant. Some more people came later and sat at the table next to us, it would have been nicer if they had sat/been sat at the other side of the room as there was so much space. It didn’t really matter as we were fini...
