"Food and service were both good and we even didn't mind being seated next to the kitchen door but what really spoilt the evening was at the end of our main course the music volume was doubled and as we were sitting next to a speaker we had to shout to each other to be heard. Twice we asked for the music to be turned down, but it didn't seem any quieter. Whatever happened to background music that meant you could still talk and hear each other rather than shouting at each other."

"OK so this is a review of a takeaway as my partner had a first grand daughter 5 days ago so mum, dad and babe not able to eat out yet. I left a message to say I wanted to place an order and was called back. The order was placed and ready for collection less that half an hour later and, if you use the Chester Street carpark, there is a back entrance and everything was ready and waiting. My lady went for the Fettucine al Funghi creamy garlic mushrooms to you and I. She was blown away by the flavours and I had a taste of what was left and can agree it was SO mushroom flavoured. I opted for the Penne Arrabbiata con Pollo with a side order of Meatballs. Starting with the latter they are probably the nicest meatballs I have tasted in my much travelled 68 years. The Arrabbiata was pretty amazing too with lots of flavour and plenty of meat speaking purely personally I would have liked a little more sauce but it's a personal thing and the flavours were spot on. The youngsters opted for pizzas which I'm told were excellent but they were attending to their new princess to focus too much on the food. I lok forward to visiting the place again and sampling their full menu as the limited takeaway one if pretty good"

"Waited 4 minutes for them to answer the phone and was immediately told 'to hold on '. Waited a further 18 minutes listening to them take orders from people in the restaurant, before putting the phone down. Phoned again later to tell them how frustrated I was, and was told 'it was because they were busy. ' Gave them an order but when I asked for a delivery they told me I shouldn 't have phoned them but deliveroo. A complete waste of time and showed no concern. Don 't know how good the food is as I never got any!"

"Completely horrible experience. On spec table for 2 which was available but had to wait in lounge. First mistake... no offer of a drink while waiting. Seated after a short wait. Took a while for drinks order to be taken. Starter, garlic bread with cheese. Pizza base, little garlic and smothered in basil oil no mention of which on menu) base soggy. Seafood starter consisted of crab croquettes like cheap scampi) deep fried white bait. Soggy) calamari chewy) and bullet prawns! All served lukewarm. Main of cajun pizza... inedible. So burnt. Main of seafood marinara, Oily pasta with a few cherry tomatoes. I understand marinara is a tomato based sauce? Mussels which were the only flavoursome part and of course, the bullet prawns. 3 times our server passed and saw my empty glass with out asking if i wanted another, I had to ask for another drink. My husband was too embarrassed to complain and would not let me do so. We paid for the food and asked for the pizza to be boxed for home to save an embarrassing complaint scene. Pizza was thrown away! 65 pounds for most part to be thrown away. I have contacted via email to raise concerns and no response. I have no idea how this place is so busy. Terrible food and service. "Visited this place yesterday. An excellent Italian restaurant. I enjoyed the beef steak a lot. It's one of the best steaks I've had in a while. Commendation to the chef for preparing the dish. Also, the restaurant staff were very friendly and courteous. In particular, the waitress who served my table was very helpful and handled my order well. "was back in helensburgh for the day to see my mother and dad. we decided to have a nice day and enjoyed the suns we would go for a meal in the new restaurant. when we were a party of 3, I couldn't book a table, so it was about the house, but it wasn't a problem at all, as we sat with menus within minutes after arrival. overall it was very nice. long the drunken memories of the river bank and instead an authentic, lively and very classic Italian bistro restaurant. it was beautifully designed, restored to the original features of the building. I also loved the big wood stove on the full view to see her pizza cook. the staff was friendly and very friendly, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the food was fresh and very tasty. the menu is small and perfectly shaped and there was nothing that I would not like to eat, at the end enjoyed my parents 2 of the Risotto dishes and I had pizza, all were freshly cooked to order that was made for an excellent meal and the gelato for pudding was beautiful. my father was also very pleased to see one of his favorite Italian red wines on the menu (he is a massive weinbuff) and used as I was the named driver. great end on a sunny day and would really recommend. x"

"Those with a refined palate will be shocked after eating here, especially after savouring real Italian dishes. Absolutely NOTHING authentic about ANY of the food at Il Palazzo in Chelmsford. 6 people ordered different items and everyone said the same: WORST 'ITALIAN ' MEAL EVER. The food was insipid, tasteless and overcooked. We had the 'pleasure ' of greasy fried calamari, soggy skin on baked fish, pasta laden with excessive amounts of garlic, a pizza that looked and tasted like it came from a 2-for-1 deal in Iceland, fillet meat and wet bacon swimming in copious sauces made with who-knows-what. Nothing looked or tasted even close to the menu descriptions. Desserts were equally awful, with the Affogato brought to the table as a curdled soup, and a vile thing disguised as Tiramisù. And of course, not even a hint of Italian staff. None of them seemed surprised at the amount of food left untouched on our plates. Name aside, the only 'Italian ' thing about this restaurant was the word 'grazie ' that the inept waiters were able to iterate."

Good interior with great furnishings and friendly staff,we ordered breakfast just before the cut-off point of 1200,big portions with not so big prices!!! I don't know where you will get a full breakfast ,all the good stuff, for under £8. Plenty other breakfast items on the menu, if not a big appetite. Fully licensed, and operates ,breakfast, lunch, and evening meal, with a great selection at all servings, with all the classics on the menu. Staff were on hand without being too fussy,very pleasant. "This place was so phenomenal! I got my outdoor dining fix. It's disturbing the number of times I think about their macaroni and cheese ball appetizer. By far the best appetizer, and it says it's a homemade recipe, I believe them! I've never had that macaroni and cheese flavor, so good. Deep fried, it just makes sense, and it's probably one of the best things on the menu. Everything is great about this. You can feed your whole family and get a great dining experience, and it feels like it'll cost you an arm and a leg, but their prices are so reasonable you can bring your whole family and have dessert!"
