"Since this got took over by Indians it’s gone right down hill, I used to be a regular at the great lovely big standard the people before set but chicken tikka chips sent be violently ill for 12 hours out of both holes same time, a chicken bap 2 weeks later (they were looking inside the big square boxes ring to detect what meat it was) with apple sauce stuffing, that sent me running to the toilet too. Il only ever use them for a plain portion chips if I ever have to. What’s with the vapes and alcohol fridge on counter, it may aswell be an off license greediness which has hopefully gone against them. Far cry from the high standard English chip shop previous owners great staff ran, brilliant people they were. Now half the portions for more money.Such a shame it came to this, I never knew they were selling up. Makes my property nearby devalued, nothing to boast about anymore."

"Nearly had a dental bill after these rocks, sorry chips, large fish looked like a goujon, sausage wasn 't fit for my dog, owner wasn 't around so called to speak to him the next day and make him aware as the food has gradually got worse over the last 6 months, he was rude and defensive saying the chips were due to 'dry season ' and any chippy is the same at this time of year.....WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN"

"So absolutely delicious and it's BYO which is great. The portion sizes are two small tacos for each dish which is quite small (they do recommend two plates each) so i would like this to reflected a little more in the price. Overall I will definitely come back again and again."

"A girl does love a good fish chip supper every now again, it is after all a British traditional dish to have, especially on a Friday evening. Do bear in mind that this place can get really busy at times you may have to wait due to its popularity!! Having said this I'm not surprised as the food is absolutely delicious! Like Oh My Cod level, see what I did there, Lol I highly recommend you go try their fish chips. They do lots of other items from kebabs to the battered sausage, so there is quite a range of items on their menu. As well as drinks sundries. Hope you do enjoy it as much as I did!! "I recently spent a few days here visiting family and friends. This hotel is rich in history and reportedly has its own ghost that roams the halls, though unfortunately, I never sensed her presence! It's a unique establishment and, while our room was a bit dated, it was impeccably clean. Everything functioned well, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast is included in the rate, offering options like cereal, toast, or a traditional Ulster fry. We also had dinner twice during our stay, and the meals were not only generously portioned but also excellent, especially when enjoyed with a proper pint of Guinness! The staff was consistently friendly and went out of their way to assist us. It's been many years since we've visited Carrick, but I would definitely choose to stay here again."

"Having had excellent fish as well as top quality service during 2018, I was alerted to the upcoming disappointment when we arrived and the place was virtually empty and smelled of cold frying oil. Despite the lack of customers, the service was slow and the menu was inaccurate out of date according to the waitress . Our order for 3 glasses of Prosecco was refused, even though the quantities and prices were on the menu. We had to opt for a bottle. My request for an ice bucket was ignored and we had to put up with a cool tube , which was inadequate. The prosecco was not cold enough and very poor quality, despite the high price charged. The fish and chips 2 of our party ordered were tasteless and worryingly undercooked remember that cold frying oil smell ? . We were all surprised that an extra £3 plus was charged for the chips, when fish and chips were advertised at a fixed price on that out of date menu. Surely this was illegal ???? We ate what we could and left feeling mightily ripped off by Catch 22. We now know what the Catch really is !!! £66-35 wasted. We all vowed never to go again and tell all our friends about this appalling experience. David S."

"My lady and myself arrived at lunchtime on Friday. We used the left hand entrance to the restaurant. Normally we love a bit of haddock, but we were on a budget that day so we went with one of the specials. Lets say 'special ' was not exactly fair play. We used to use Nikki 's as a fish and chips venue and always found them to be of top quality. This is the first time we sampled the other side of the business. I ordered a Cumberland sausage, with mash, gravy and a Yorkshire pud. My better half ordered a lasagne and chips. Service was wonderful and our server was very attentive, cheery and polite. The atmosphere of the place was good. The crowd was bustling and those who passed us seemed to be pleased with their meals. Looking back, I 'm pretty sure they ordered the fish! The food arrived very quickly and was piping hot. My Cumberland wasn 't bad, but didn 't live up to the price of the plate. It was almost lost in gravy and onions. The mash was good, but again, not really up to the what was charged. My Wife 's lasagne tasted good, but was spongy and dry, having been prepared earlier and microwaved. I was generally OK, if slightly disappointed in my meal, until I bit into the Yorkshire pudding. Oh dear. It was one of those cheap ones you get in bag at Iceland. Not even a large one, but a tiny little one. It wasn 't at all light, fluffy, eggy or even tasting of Yorkshire pudding. It was tough and tasteless like plastic. Awful! My wife finished her meal and past me the remainder of her chips to finish off. The chips were a revelation. They were light and fluffy and had that batter tasted edge to them. They were gorgeous, fresh and perfectly done. With a start, I realised that this was the highlight of both our meals the chips! I don 't think that either of us would dare a visit to the restaurant again after our experience. Lunch for two was just shy of £20, and that was with sticking to the 'specials '. The quality of the food most definitely did NOT live up to the price tag! If you do go, maybe you 'll have better luck with the fish bar menu?"

"We have been before and it was brilliant. However this is the last time I will be eating there again. The waitress was very rude and dismissive the whole time we were there. We ordered the T-bone to share and weren 't given the opportunity to tell them how we prefer it to be cooked. The steak then came blue massively underdone to our liking. This is not to say it wasn 't a top quality cut of meat because it assuredly was. However I was not willing to pay £95 for a steak that wasn 't cooked to my liking. After a rather long wait for the waitress to come back and ask how our meals were I ended up having to get up and go to see the manager to tell him I was unhappy with the meal and also the service, to which he replied, I 've been down to check on you 2ce and you never mentioned it then, what 's wrong with it now ? After which I told him he hadn 't been to check on us, as we had only just received our meal and that the waitress has been abrupt and rude all evening and that she hadn 't even asked how we would like our steak cooking before she disappeared off in a hurry. The waitress then joins the conversation from over his shoulder and said, I did ask and you said medium rare , which I wouldn 't have said as I prefer medium for that cut of steak and more to the point even if i did ask for medium rare the steak was blue! The managers response to this was to tell me to just pay for the drinks and not the steak. Rather than rectifying the steak and the service problem. After realizing I wasn 't willing to finish my drink but more than happy to pay for it he told me it 's fine and to just go. Safe to say it spoilt our evening. We drove an hour that night to enjoy a nice steak but went home hungry with a bitter taste in our mouths."
