"My lady and myself arrived at lunchtime on Friday. We used the left hand entrance to the restaurant. Normally we love a bit of haddock, but we were on a budget that day so we went with one of the specials. Lets say 'special ' was not exactly fair play. We used to use Nikki 's as a fish and chips venue and always found them to be of top quality. This is the first time we sampled the other side of the business. I ordered a Cumberland sausage, with mash, gravy and a Yorkshire pud. My better half ordered a lasagne and chips. Service was wonderful and our server was very attentive, cheery and polite. The atmosphere of the place was good. The crowd was bustling and those who passed us seemed to be pleased with their meals. Looking back, I 'm pretty sure they ordered the fish! The food arrived very quickly and was piping hot. My Cumberland wasn 't bad, but didn 't live up to the price of the plate. It was almost lost in gravy and onions. The mash was good, but again, not really up to the what was charged. My Wife 's lasagne tasted good, but was spongy and dry, having been prepared earlier and microwaved. I was generally OK, if slightly disappointed in my meal, until I bit into the Yorkshire pudding. Oh dear. It was one of those cheap ones you get in bag at Iceland. Not even a large one, but a tiny little one. It wasn 't at all light, fluffy, eggy or even tasting of Yorkshire pudding. It was tough and tasteless like plastic. Awful! My wife finished her meal and past me the remainder of her chips to finish off. The chips were a revelation. They were light and fluffy and had that batter tasted edge to them. They were gorgeous, fresh and perfectly done. With a start, I realised that this was the highlight of both our meals the chips! I don 't think that either of us would dare a visit to the restaurant again after our experience. Lunch for two was just shy of £20, and that was with sticking to the 'specials '. The quality of the food most definitely did NOT live up to the price tag! If you do go, maybe you 'll have better luck with the fish bar menu?"

There are plenty of options to choose from, including daily specials and a set menu. The portion sizes are generous and the food is well-prepared. I ordered fish and chips with peas, which was delicious and cooked perfectly. I was pleased to find a restaurant that serves high-quality fish and chips. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service.

Arrived after long drive from Bristol, just wanted snack. Ordered cake/tea £3:00 deal). Tea came quickly, perfect. Cake a little longer due to shortage of staff, but we were given apologies and offer of a free tea, which we declined, we had plenty and the rest was welcome. It was peaceful and the cake was excellent. So enjoyed our time here, will return for more food.

We visited here today with our children who both have coeliac disease and so have to eat gluten free, and it’s hard to find somewhere to eat that’s quick and easy for them to eat if we are out and about. Once again today we were served the best gluten free fish, chips, and battered sausage. We were also given cider vinegar, without having to ask for it or be told they don’t have it (which usually happens). Very generous portions, very tasty and the staff are very helpful and friendly. It’s always very clean too. We can’t wait to come back again soon. Thank you! View menu

Working late meant a missed dinner and upon arriving at Nicky’s Fish Bar I went straight for the fish and chips because why not! Staff were friendly and quickly took my order and I settled in with a newspaper that were on offer to read whilst I waited for the food to arrive. I wasn’t waiting long until a large plate of steaming fish and chips was presented with my mouth watering. Simply delicious, fish was obviously fresh and none of that frozen nonsense with the chips golden and crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Given my appetite the meal didn’t last long and I was pleasantly stuffed! I washed it down with a Greek Mythos beer and was happy for my visit, a perfect dinner after a ha...

I ordered a kebab with chips and salad, along with hot chili and garlic sauce. The price for this meal was £4.50. I ordered it to go and opened it up right away to eat. Upon first glance, I thought the portion size was good for the price. However, the kebab meat was lukewarm and seemed like it had been sitting for a while. It lacked flavor and was not evenly cut. As I walked back with my food, I noticed how greasy it was, leaking out of the box and onto my jacket, which now smells of kebab meat, chili, and garlic sauce. The sauce was generic and seemed store-bought rather than homemade. The chips also seemed like they had been sitting out for a while, but they were the saving grace of the me...

"My friend and I wanted somewhere different to go for some late lunch and so we decided on the Cosy Club. Although my friend had been once before a while back, it was my very first time visiting. As you walk in, you're greeted with an almost vintage-y feel and it's great! Old paintings upon the wall and retro furniture too, but that's not all. Ascending the stairs to the top, we got to the first bit of the club which is the bar area and what a fab area it is too, to relax and enjoy and Beveridge or two. Further down is where the restaurant is located and a lovely restaurant it is too. Very ornate with a fancy oldy-worldy vibe, almost like stepping back in time. The decor and glass chandeliers make for a very luxurious, almost palatial feel. The staff were really friendly and showed us to a table where after a short time of waiting, we had water poured for us before choosing what we'd like to eat and drink. I decided to go for the dirty chicken burger and I'm glad I did. The portion size was great, and there was plenty going on in the burger; the flavours were tantalising! Everything was cooked really well and tasted good (oh and the berry cider they have is certainly worth a try! After spending time enjoying our meal, we paid for the bill and were able to make our way, with our drinks, to the bar area to take a sit and enjoy the vibe further. I would certainly recommend the Cosy Club to anyone looking for something different, with a cool vibe and great food. Thank you to the staff for a pleasant and enjoyable visit, will certainly be returning! :"
