"Met here for a 'catch up ' with friends and booked online specifically requesting a quiet table. It just so happened that England had just played and won their way into the semi final of the World Cup. Consequently the bar area was very busy and loud (understandably) and it is the local village pub. There was a misunderstanding re the request and we shown to a table which was anything but quiet. We asked if we could be moved to a quieter table and the gentleman who greeted us could not have been more helpful. Having found us a lovely quiet and airy table by an open window as it was a very hot evening. The meal itself was freshly cooked and very tasty, served by a very cheerful young lady. I had the Monkfish which was cooked to perfection and a lovely cheeseboard to finish. If I was going to add a constructive criticism I would suggest that someone replaces some of the really badly peeled and worn place mats which would not cost a fortune but makes such a difference. Some were very damaged and ever so slightly let down the really lovely traditional décor which someone has taken a lot of trouble sourcing to create a homely and relaxed atmosphere. It was the first time we have dined there and we will return to try other dishes on the menu. Thank you to The French Horn for an overall pleasurable evening."
