"it was my 60th birthday meal and I would have expected that a bit more exhausting the tablet decorations were economical and all the plastic there were some real two or real candles. the service was insecure staff that had to be called to the table all the time and didn't keep us much in the eye. when several in the group wanted to exchange the free wine with cranberry juice, there was a lot "must ask the manager ' that feels uncomfortable no music that is not necessary to christmas, it lacks atmosphere and warm that was ok, but it would have been nice if there were some dishes with extra green as the brussel sprouts had been assigned and not only very thick I hope it will be better if I celebrated my 60th birthday party at 8.4 in the warren house"

"we were here on a Monday night and it was absolutely fantastic. first, the landscape around the hotel is simply amazing. very picturesque with a beautiful wedding marathon, some vintage tractories and simply in the really beautiful environment. the room itself was from this world for the price. so much bigger than expected with huge solid handmade and obviously custom furniture. the best part was the huge copper tub in the center of the bathroom, which was great. the breakfast was phenomenal. absolute monster shares of good quality ingredients served in a beautiful winter garden. to distribute it from customer service, the staff was very friendly and friendly. would come back 100%. I was not encouraged to write a review, but it was necessary for exactly how good it was. Five stars."

"What a wonderful time we had. It was my partners birthday which the staff did not until after we arrived but they produced a small cake with a candle. We were offered seconds of beef and Yorkshire puddings and cheese to follow our dessert. The meal was delicious, the staff achieved a perfect balance between attentiveness and not being pushy, the wine was excellent and the surroundings were so comfortable and relaxed. We will definitely be back. Many, many thanks."

"From booking to leaving perfect. Surroundings superb, lovely greeting by staff, overall excellent service. We had afternoon tea on the terrace. The meal was very well presented and a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes, beautiful ingredients and flavours. "I have worked in the village since 1997 and have frequented “The Bot” since it opened . It is always my “go to” place every week on my way home , having worked away for 5 days . The staff are all lovely and discreet , knowing what I’d like to drink and eat . I only have a small appetite , and it’s never a problem that I have a kid’s burger with extra cheese !! Thanks Archie and Joe ! Yesterday I had a Club Sandwich , which was lovely !! The Hanging Kebabs are amazing ! My personal favourite is the pork belly . I sent some builder guests here on Monday night as our own kitchen was closed and they loved the Hanging Kebabs !! I wouldn’t recommend somewhere I wouldn’t eat myself . Tom , Hannah , Jemma , Chloe , Dan and all the team work really hard to ensure all guests are looked after …… So much so I have decided with Jemma and Hannah’s help to have my significant birthday party here in the beautiful Rose Rooms , above The Bot , in June Thanks guys for always looking after me , also big shout out to Elise for just being amazing !! "Went in on a quiet (there was only one other table who finished shortly after I arrived) early weekday evening around 5pm, seated fairly quickly, waitress came over to take order and I said I wasn't ready yet, she came over again a few minutes later, told her I still hadn't decided but ordered water to drink and asked her to give me two more minutes to decide. She walked past my table twice more as I tried to get her attention to ask her about the menu but she completely blanked me. 15 minutes later I was still waiting for her to return, got up and looked for her to see her standing by the kitchen, twirling her hair and flirting with the chef. At that point I realised she couldn't be bothered with me, my presence clearly a distraction to her attempts at getting the chef to ask her out. I simply walked out. There's plenty other restaurants nearby, so I won't bother coming back."

"there are 200 refugees from Afghanistan in this hotel that have been there for 2 years (we have said that those who have been there for 2 years have refused the local apartment as they want to live in london, near the family that have already settled there). while the refugees are not a problem because they are quiet and the children behave well, they come constantly into the restaurant for food, water, fruit and utensils etc. the children often go to the restaurant in their pyjamas when in the night. While we don't mind how it must be hard for them, especially the children if they want to go a romantic meal. (the refugees have their own dining room and supplies there). we have booked as it said, it was an award-winning restaurant and it looked nicely online, but note that their heartstrings are attracted and they watch constantly coming men and going to ask what is going on. at the end I asked a worker."

"This is a pub with a bit of an identity crisis. The restaurants area is still sharing space with the pub and you’re not quite sure where you are. The staff were really friendly. However I’m a bit disappointed that when booking 3 days prior, we weren’t offered the Christmas menu, but instead found out it was preorder only when we arrived on Boxing Day. To be honest, we wouldn’t have booked if we had known that. Sadly the food was rather a let down. The beef croquettes were quite honestly the strangest and least appetising thing I’ve ever seen on a plate. They seemed to be just puréed beef, deep fried. A croquette should be mainly potato. These had none. They were really quite awful. Mains. Chunky chips seems like an easy thing to muster up? Nope. My partner and friend received a bowl of about 6 mammoth potatoes each. I don’t think you could even describe them as wedges. They were stupidly large chunks which inevitably where undercooked in the centre. My salmon was actually cooked quite nicely! However the strange imbalance of overly thick cream sauce and raw cherry tomatoes left it pretty much inedible. Finally, the acoustics in the dining room really were the nail in the coffin. A large table with multiple screaming children behind us meant that we literally couldn’t have a conversation with each other, despite being face to face. Such a disappointing experience."

"David and I have keenly watched the career of Steve and were delighted to have him take over The Anchor which is a few minutes from home. We had high expectations of the meal and were blown away by the magical dishes. We loved the warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere and chatted happily with other diners. The best thing about this lovely village pub is that at it's heart is family. Now, to the food, every mouthful was tasty, little bursts of contrasting yet complimentary flavour. I was particularly pleased that I was able to order a chocolate dessert which has not happened in years as I am allergic to dark chocolate and am always disappointed that chefs favour it. I know, I know, it's the best chocolate to have at least 70%cocoa yawn yawn, but I am allergic to it and always have to miss out, so thank you very very much Steve for making me feel normal. I cannot wait to get back for a Sunday lunch or dinner to see what magical spins Steve can do. Thank you very much for a superb evening, I have earnt brownie points for treating David to a memorable Birthday meal."

"beautiful hotel and gardens. in the afternoon very moderate. very disappointed by the service. had to ask for essential items such as milk and teaspoon for the tee! also expected that they will offer the plate change during the further promotion to the desserts from the sandwiches, and also at different tees. surprisingly with the reaction when we mentioned some of this on a male member of the personal. he said he was surprised that we addressed this, as we seemed happy that the waitress makes our photos! very strange to say. the waitress has managed to completely cut one of my friends in all 3 photos! this is a great place to go if they want to admire the intent and it would have been nice outside if it were sunny. However, do not have high expectations for the food and service. I wish I had spent a little more and went to one of the nicer hotels in london. I should say that when we rediscovered our minds with another waitress, they could offer us even more sandwiches. I think one of the problems was probably bad training of junior staff."
