"A group of eight old school friends- the staff went out of their way to provide a suitable table! The friendliness of the staff cannot be praised highly enough- they were amazing! Excellent service, excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. I hope to return on my next trip to Birmingham."

"Malmaison is what every hotel, as a basic standard, should be like! Everything from checking in to checking out was superb. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. Room service was quick and flexible with requests. The location was only a 3 minute walk from the city centre, but tucked away enough that you don't feel so close to the hustle and bustle. The bar and restaurant area makes you feel torn between going out on the town or just staying within the grounds and having an equally good time ! I was hoping to sample their spa to relax over the two nights, but it was fully booked. Nonetheless, I didn't need it. I returned home so much more relaxed than when I left, despite journeying to and from London by train."

"There is nothing wrong with doing something a bit different every now and then. For example you could write a food review and maybe put in some film references or throw some song lyrics in the mix, see if anyone notices. But sometimes you want something traditional. "A birthday treat and we really enjoyed it. First time we had eaten there and the food, wine and staff all very pleasant and enjoyable. The Sunday lunch deal of 3 courses for just under £20 was good value. Even tho a set meal there was a wide choice and liked the selfservice first course where I had smoked salmon, ceaser salad, coleslaw and lovely rustic bread. My partner had an omlette made by the chef, closely watched by me who's rubbish at doing them. The roast ribeye with all the trimmings was juicy and flavourful and using the attendant chef again, enjoyed that old favourite zingy crepes suzette. The only minor complaint was that it was very hot...maybe just over compensation with the heating system. Would certainly visit again."
