"Can not thank Cote enough for making our visit with granddaughter something special. I asked for a nice table as it was our granddaughter’s birthday. She was addressed by her name when we came in and taken to our table where there was a card and box ofnMaltzers waiting! Slight confusion as we all thought we were at the wrong table! Through the meal the friendly and attentive service did not waiver and she was made to feel this was an occasion, culminating with a complimentary dessert sporting a lighted candle and most of the staff coming to the table to sing Happy Birthday. Of course other diners joined in and this gave a very jolly atmosphere. Our meals were all very good as we would expect; we are Cote lovers! Never had a bad meal or bad experience in any of their restaurants and we have dined at a few around the country. It is our ‘go to’ chain. I wonder if those that say otherwise are ‘discontents’ ? It’s bistro dining not Coq D’or."

"Turned up at 2.30pm to be told they had no record of my open table booking. Showed it the lady on my phone, she told me not to use Open Table as this often happened and I should book directly. I told her I liked using Open Table as its easy. She just shrugged. Sat down at 3pm. Service was generally very average, took 25 minutes for our drinks to come to the table, not great when its 30 degrees outside. Food was ok. Set Sunday menu. Wouldn't go back to be honest as service was poor. Staff behind the bar have one pace. Very slow. Don't seem motivated to serve quickly or really to smile, which is a shame. They were nice enough. Just slow. Looked fed up and didn't want to be working on a Sunday."

"The staff were welcoming and the atmosphere was lovely , with lemon trees and olive trees surrounding the tables . The staff were attentive at first , we got out drinks and starters really quickly and then this is where it went down hill . We ordered a main and asked without mushrooms, the food came with mushrooms and then my meal was cold . We waited for a second dish without mushrooms and the chicken was cold in the middle not good . We sent the mains back and as we had waited well over 40 mins for mains . I did not want to wait any longer , so for our first time visiting this restaurant ,it was a real shame . The manager was very good and tried to rectify the situation she best knew how . The fact was the chefs let them down and it had ruined our night as two of us ended up with no mains and we left ."

"Located in the charming suburb of Leith in Edinburgh, this restaurant is visually appealing. However, the service left much to be desired. While the food was decent, the servers displayed indifference towards us. We were taken aback by the high price of our main dish and an additional charge of £5 for bread. Furthermore, gratuity was automatically included in our bill without our consent. When we raised our concerns about the extra charges, our server informed us that it is the restaurant's policy to not mention these costs upfront and to wait for customers to complain. With so many other better dining options in Leith, it's advisable to carefully review your bill if you choose to visit this restaurant."

"My only criticism of the whole visit was the initial reception we walked into an empty room and stood for at least 5 minutes before any staff appeared. When someone did finally appear, they immediately headed back into the back room kitchen area, leaving us standing at the front door at which point I decided to just pick a table and sit ourselves down. Thankfully the rest of the experience improved, and the service and food was very good thereafter. I will be back as the food is always very good and the location is particularly handy for my work, but I was very tempted to walk out and not come back during the initial 5 minutes this time round."
