"We had a table booked for 7pm that we were supposed to leave by 8.30 for the second serving but they were able to make the table available for the whole evening, which meant a relaxed pace. Service was excellent, attentive but definitely not in your face. Food was very good. We had the house white which was pretty good. Not a huge selection for vegetarians but enough to have a couple of choices. Really nice atmosphere on the Sat night we were there. Would be happy to go back"

"I would not recommend Hotel du Vin in York to anyone! Absolutely disatrous anniversary event! These venues no longer have chefs simply kitchen staff as the food is delivered ready prepared by their suppliers! This means of course that no invdividual tastes can be catered for! My prawns still had their rear tract in them and my wife's duck egg had no support and thus it vanished through the hole in the wooden plate all over the table! The mains were no better (but much more expensive) than Cote, Cafe Rouge etc., The manager didn't want confrontation so offered us free desserts ! Sadly the event was already ruined! Fine dining it is not!"
