"Appalling!!! Down from Birmingham for birthday weekend and decided to eat here as reviews looked good. On arrival, the waitress told us to firstly order drinks before being seated after asking if we could just sit down to wat as hungry she told us we must pay at bar for the buffet first (never have I paid for food before eating it and I will not make this mistake agsin) we did and sat down. The starter selection was of poor choice, and once seated to eat the food was luke warm. When we went up for the main which I thought would be abit warmer due to curry 's being available the selection of food on offer was again very miminal. I am also vegetarian and apart from 2 mushroom options (I don 't like myshrooms) I decided to raise my issues with the waitress who said I would need to speak to the manager. The manager came to the table and did not appreciate the concerns I raised with him over the food but said he would accommodate me and make something out back. I requested fried rice and vegetable curry, what came to the table was boiled rice that felt like yesterday 's food and a bowl of vegetable curry which I 'm sure was just vegetables taken from the buffet and then added to curry sauce and again was luke warm in temperature. I was so unhappy I raised my concerns with the manager, when asking for a refund his response was 'well you 've been watched going to the buffet several times I absolutely had not, I had a small plate of the luke warm starters and then couldn 't find anything at the mains hence why I originally complained. He told me that he had accommodated me which again he had not again luke warm unfried rice with thrown together curry. And that the tills were locked so would not be issuing a refund but food and drinks were still being paid for. His attitude was so poor. My boyfriend asked if he could just refund my food as this was a birthday meal that had been spoiled (not sure how my boyfriend managed to eat a few platefuls of the food he didn 't want to make a fuss and was just hungry) and the manager was just not having it. I told him poor his customer service skills were and that I would be writing a poor review he told me to simply 'go on then '. The reason I am so passionate about leaving my reviews about this poor place is that later on that night I vomited all of the vegetable curry up (I am early pregnant also) I dread to think what they did to my 'specially made food out the back '. My I add that my boyfriend who managed to eat a few platefuls of food felt fine. I have never complained about anywhere I 've eaten out but this place deserves a special mention and I just hope people do not waste their money here!! I have also contacted food standard agency regarding the matter"

"The Saddle Inn is a great pub my twin brother Stephen and I visited on a recent two day trip to Chester pre coronavirus lockdown , it's a pub I always look forward to visiting on any trip into this historic walled city...I take. I love the interior, a wonderful looking pub ,the main room is dominated by a very eye catching serving bar complete with fantastic looking beer pumps that are made from guitar stems ,theres great decor and furnishings including all manner of rock'n'roll posters adorning the walls, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub all housed in a great looking building, its just a wonderful pub. My brother and I were here on a Thursday morning, we were in fact the first customers of the day as we arrived at 11am as the pub opened, greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of staff, after a quick study of their real ales we both opted to have Robinsons Brewery trooper and these pale ales were served in excellent condition, we got a table were we just kicked back, chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our real ale's. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced and full bodied pale ale with a big hit of hops, very easy to drink,a real ale style I really enjoy, my brother also gave me the thumbs up to his pale ale,it was the perfect start to our day. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Saddle Inn we had a great visit. The Saddle Inn is easy to locate along Grosvenor Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 11am till 11pm. Friday Saturday, 11am till 2am. Sunday,11am till 11pm. A great pub,one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area."
