"We booked our office Christmas Dinner, enticed by the all included wine in £75x person 2 course meal. We were left hungrier than when we arrived. The main course consisted in 3 small rolls of a thin layer of turkey with some mousse inside. 4 Brussels sprouts (I know) and a tiny slice of potato cake. And thats it!! I hehe eaten larger starters, never mind first and main course. The Christmas puddings, were tiny moulds soooo hard to cut through.Later on I saw one of the cook going into the kitchen with a tray of pre-made long rolls wrapped into cling film. It must cost them 50p x roll and they can feed to 10 people with it. Very poor service too. We were left from 1pm to 2 pm before the food appeared. They filled the glasses to 1/4 and from time to time they would come and refill up to the same level. I wonder how many office Christmas parties made the same mistake to book at 155."

"We are regulars at the inn and our experience last night was amazing. Phil our waiter could not do enough for us and definitely deserved a mention!! The food was lovely, there was an issue with one of the mains but this was sorted quickly and nothing was too much hassle. Thank you for making our experience so special. We will be back soon!!"

"The staff was friendly and the menu was great. The taste combinations were thoughtful and well executed. The portion sizes were good, and I enjoyed three courses without feeling overcrowded. The wine pairing was great. The winter garden was a bit cool, but it didn't take away from the excellent food. The atmosphere was lacking something, but that can be hit or miss with hotel restaurants. Adding descriptions to the gin list in the beverage menu would improve it. It was nice to see local products being used. Overall, it was very good and I will definitely return."

"the teig has unfortunately gone from excellent to only average. at previous visits we were really impressed by eating, but the dinges seem to have changed. the menu has gone from the Gastro-Pub to only pub favorites. what is good when it is just eating well done, but the dishes weren't even great. bbq chicken wings had no real taste. goat cheese left a butter after taste and the beet root was overwhelming vinegary. the pork wellington should come with a fondant potato, but the carrots were comminuted new carrots. no explanation, but the waitress offered us drinks in the house. she was very apologetic and very friendly, but we were disappointed to see that the dings are slipped in the kitchen."

"It was Friday evening and the restaurant was half empty, which sent alarm bells. I was expecting exceptional food. It was okay, some dishes were very good, but my main was underwhelming, and deserts average ….we had the tasting menu and wine to go along side. I wouldn’t suggest doing the wine, portions were minimal for a hefty £75 per person) Meal came to £400 for two and we left feeling dissatisfied. We did mention to the manager that we were a little disappointed and she kindly removed the service charge. We won’t recommend this place nor go back, which is unfortunate."

"I went for Afternoon Tea with my husband. The sandwiches were ok, nothing special. The cakes again were ok. I give lots of Afternoon Teas, and have been to hotels and Fortnum Mason for beautiful teas, so l was disappointed when the sandwiches appeared on a plain white earthenware plate and the cakes on a slate!! no tiered cake stands and no Green Tea either. Also you should be asked if you want more tea or sandwiches or cakes, again not forthcoming. The Afternoon Tea was a present so l feel it was wasted and perhaps should have chosen another location."

I loved the interieur that brings the memories back to me to work in bayern years ago. the beer was fantastic and I had a nice ham and kartoffel salad, which was a great light lunch. "The service at this restaurant is unparalleled, and the quality of their food, especially the tea, is exceptional. For a unique experience, consider trying the vegetarian option when ordering sandwiches."

"We had a nice lunch, food was good. Waitress must have visited our table approx. 6-8 times to check we were okay, did we need more drinks when they already just arrived, asked us three times if our meal was okay! Then whilst friend was paying me and my elderly Mother were waiting at the door and someone came over to us to ask if we’d paid. As we were standing in the doorway, not the best getaway and a little insulted. Staff need to chill on the ‘Is everything okay’ If we need drinks our glasses would be nearly empty and asking if the food is okay, ask once not three times! Presume two more older people are not trying to cut and run and don’t tell me this happens often in Loose"

"I wish we had found this place earlier. The menu is not extensive (which is actually not a criticism), but everyone in our family felt they had a choice they were happy with. The food, service and general ambiance were all excellent. I think we will revisit next year!"

"great seafood and relaxed atmosphere. it is worth visiting this hidden gem of a restaurant. it's just a short walk from canary wharf, but they need to look for him. the appetizers are delicious. I loved the calamari! there was also a good choice of the main courses, but I chose the fish and chips not very adventurous, but really well done. the chips were crispy and the teig was melt-in-the-mouth crispy and beautiful and light. there was a good choice of wein and everything was a good value for money. the atmosphere is relaxed and it is a great place to meet friends after work or lunch. the owners and staff are very friendly and make them really welcome. "Excellent atmosphere and good food with great selection including some vegan options. Service was very friendly but very slow even towards the end when they were not busy anymore. We will definitely return and would recommend to others. Dogs are welcome in the Var area which for us is a big plus. There's a pirate ship in the garden for children."

"We enjoyed the afternoon tea, which was quite good, but the overall experience was somewhat diminished by the poor quality of the environment. We were seated in the lounge area where a business meeting was taking place; while we didn't mind that, the entire space felt uninviting. It would have been better if a separate area had been designated for afternoon tea, as we weren't the only guests present. Additionally, a proper tablecloth would have elevated the look of our table, making the experience feel more special and enjoyable. The afternoon was enjoyable, but I fear the lack of ambiance took away from the charm."

"just fair because we had the Yorkshire plate, it was all kicked. not a sweet, only a potato fritter (can be somewhere cheese,) two crab cakes again not very delicious, a very small fish goujon in the teig with a small part of chips, and a deep roasted scotchei. none of them was great, and was served with four pots of Mayo/Cutney to give him a taste."

"This restaurant lacks awareness of allergens. When I ordered my food, the server didn't understand and had to ask someone else for help. While I appreciate them double-checking, I was disappointed to receive the Gluten Free Ploughman's with a non-GF pork pie. The pork pie was eventually taken away, but crumbs were left on the tray. The food itself was mediocre at best. I don't plan on returning to this restaurant. Although there were some gluten-free options on the menu, I had previously emailed to confirm if they offered light bites and sandwiches for those with dietary restrictions."

"I only gave this restaurant two stars because of the friendly server and the skinny fries. However, other than that, I suggest walking to Byron instead. The extra five minutes of walking is worth it."

"My wife and I had booked a Chinese meal on the 28th September and were looking for somewhere to have some drinks prior to the meal and my wife spotted the Mercat opposite the Chinese which was absolutely perfect for us. We ordered a Cider and a Peroni and the barmaid Stacey told us to find a table and she would bring the drinks over to us. Whilst enjoying our drinks we kept seeing lovely meals being taken to vsrious tables and they all looked exceptional, very well presented and you could clearly see that everyone was really enjoying them and the lovely background music being played. We both agreed that we would return on the followimg evening and try the food as it really looked too good to miss and we were certainly not disappointed. After a couple of drinks each we both decided to go for the fish and chips and we both agreed that it was the nicest fish and chips we had had for years, everything very fresh and so tasty. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Sauvignon blanc with the meal and my wife chose the cheese platter with olives, girkin and biscuits and I chose the icecream for our sweets, absolutely perfect. Unfortunately the lovely Stacey was not working on the evening but we did have the lovely Scott, they are a super team, so efficient, friendly, courteous and obliging. Since returning home we have never stopped talking about this wonderful evening, we both loved Edinburgh and this restaurant really was the icing on the cake. We are already talking about returning to the City and returning to this beautiful restaurant, what a find! . Well done to you all and thankyou!"

"This is the second time we have been to Gola, and it was simply fantastic. I had the Ravioli which was probably the best I have ever had. Fresh pasta was out of this world. My wife had a pizza which was incredible. We both found that the menu and description of what it was is spot on. The flavour combinations leave you wishing you could have more, but then knowing that desert was next. The desert menu on an empty magnum bottle. We both had an Affogato was just perfect, which had a little shovel as the spoon. Book to avoid disappointment, as this is up there with one of the best Italian restaurants we have been to. The ambiance makes you feel like you sitting in a restaurant in Italy, and you are surrounded by Italians that are making sure you are looked after. Obviously we will be back. Love Gola."
