"Took my parents here at the weekend have been many times before but today was very poor some of the reason for that was they had had a power cut in the morning Right from choosing a table to paying the bill it was disappointing We could have a table in the window as it was ‘booked’ but no one came in our time, the first bottle of wine was unavailable the second took ages to find but was found eventually our starters were lovely but the risotto was bland and very wet the desert was enjoyed by my father Then to cap it all the bill was wrong. On a busy day I could accept that but on this day it was very quiet and although the staff were very nice and doing they’re best they lacked basic knowledge of the menu and wine list which I appreciate is not they’re fault but it annoying Sorry it’s such a bad review but as I love the restaurant normally we will visit again and hope we have a better experience"

Carpenters Arms provided lovely food and good service. Only drawback was the physical table we were sat at, where you legs go under the table was too low and uncomfortable.

Got friends. The Risotto was cold, watery and tasteless. The fish and chips were not on their normal standard. Doesn't know what fish it was, but the texture wasn't beautiful. ,

This restaurant is excellent and located in a beautiful setting. The menu offers a great selection of food at reasonable prices. I would definitely come back for another enjoyable meal.

We celebrated our Anniversary at this restaurant and ordered the chateaubriand. It was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Although it was a bit more expensive, it was definitely worth it. The village itself is very pretty and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I have always liked the Carpenters Arms for its food and atmosphere. Staff are pleasant and efficient. However whilst the food was again excellent on this latest visit, good value, cooked and presented well, the new menu wasn't to our liking. All our courses were taken off the specials which were excellent but what would we have done without them?

This was my first visit to 'The Carpenter 's Arms ' but it definitely will not be my last. There was a lovely, welcoming, atmosphere as soon as you walked into the room. The service was very attentive and the food was delicious. Really looking forward to my return visit so that I can sample some more tempting choices from the menu. The views from the veranda area are stunning as well.

"We arrived here for a 2 night stay for a wedding (Fri sat night). PROS: Lynsey the manageress she 100% makes it so fabulous. Lovely, welcoming, looked after us brilliantly. Due to some staff shortages, she was doing what seemed like 10 jobs at once! We ate on one of the nights food was delicious! Great service tasty food. Breakfast was also spot on set us up brilliantly for the day ahead on the Saturday! The Willow room which we stayed in was fab ideal size, lovely cosy too! The whole 2 night stay was extremely reasonably priced the place itself has a great feel about it like a big cosy house! CONS: If you like total darkness, take an eye mask for sleeping as the rooms can get really bright from the early hours. Also, depending on the room, it’s on quite a busy road so can be quite nosy it would be worth having earplugs if you like a quiet surrounding. Due to staffing, the bar doesn’t stay open that late, so be mindful of this, they will however put drinks in your room if you can’t make it back in time for the bar closing. Taxis there are no local taxis, so arranging transport to the wedding we were attending was a nightmare which we didn’t account for! Luckily after 6 different phone calls, we managed to get sorted. The only gripe I had was the confusion over the bill if you decide to charge things to your room, the bills aren’t itemised so it’s difficult to keep track of what has been charged. There was some confusion on checkout over what we should shouldn’t have been charged for, so definitely choose to pay for any extras outright to avoid any confusion or uncertainty before check out. Other than that, it was one of the nicest, most personal stays we’ve had out in a long long time. This was mainly down to the Manageress Lynsey who is fabulous at her job really does make it feel like home makes you feel super welcomed relaxed. Thank you lynsey for really making a stay a one to remember."
