"A great place to work from Home . Hehe, don 't tell the boss!! A great corner pub on the way to Hackney from Mile End. Lovely people running the pub, service is quick, jolly and polite. "Took my parents here at the weekend have been many times before but today was very poor some of the reason for that was they had had a power cut in the morning Right from choosing a table to paying the bill it was disappointing We could have a table in the window as it was ‘booked’ but no one came in our time, the first bottle of wine was unavailable the second took ages to find but was found eventually our starters were lovely but the risotto was bland and very wet the desert was enjoyed by my father Then to cap it all the bill was wrong. On a busy day I could accept that but on this day it was very quiet and although the staff were very nice and doing they’re best they lacked basic knowledge of the menu and wine list which I appreciate is not they’re fault but it annoying Sorry it’s such a bad review but as I love the restaurant normally we will visit again and hope we have a better experience"

"We booked a meal for 28 friends. I have to say that it was probably the best Indian meal I have ever had. I find that at a lot of restaurants all the dishes taste similar, but Spice Village was very different. All the dishes had very distinctive flavours. A simple dish like bang bang cauliflower was absolutely amazing. The service was excellent and we were well looked after. Very pleasant staff, nothing was too much trouble. Can highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be back. Thank you to Ash and all his staff for a great evening."

"I was with a big work group. there is something for everyone on the menu, including a handful of vegan dishes. everyone ordered apps, so I got the vegan: brot and olive oil. it was, good, broth and olive oil. there were some vegan netzen; I got the crispy tofu with cousin. tofu was good, cousin was okay. be careful when ordering: the vegan product is only dinge from the vegetarian menu without yogurt or other milk products. So they need to ask for the vegan crispy tofu, not the vegetarian."

"The food at this restaurant is delightful, the staff are friendly, and the establishment is clean. It can get quite busy on weekends, but the staff do their best to accommodate you quickly. There are a couple of free parking spaces outside the cafe, as well as a large pay and display carpark at the rear. You can enter through Kings Road or Durley Avenue. The service is good for a dine-in breakfast meal."

"The food was good, as was the service from our two waiters, BUT, we were given a table on the top floor, up a narrow, steep staircase. My mother is 81 and the rest of the tables had elderly people sat at them, whilst downstairs the customers were a lot younger and more mobile. This also made it more difficult to use the bathroom facilities that were situated in the basement. Please think when seating your customers and then it would have been a far better experience."

"New Year's Eve dinner for 5. 1. Had to remind staff twice that we did not receive the 2017 cocktail. 2. In the restaurant for 90 minutes without being served the starter course and this was only obtained after mentioning this to the manager. 3. When starter course received the lasagna was not cooked , it was like strips of rubber. 4. One of our party had macoroni cheese as a main course. The first effort was sent back as it was bone dry and had no truffles. The second effort was slightly less cooked and had truffles but was lacking in cheese. The sauce was virtually milk. 5. The steaks were in fairness good but the menu said that they were served with a peppercorn sauce. Ours came with a bernaise sauce. We asked for peppercorn and what we got had no body whatsoever. We did not have the desert course. As a fair reviewer I must make mention of the manager who saved our night with his attention to our problems, it is a pity he was let down on such an important night by his staff and chefs."
