"Don't know why people have been leaving reviews been going to this place for a few years after wanting to try a new place. Never disappointed. Great kebab pizza and curries. Never had a cold meal at all from here so no idea where all these review are coming from. Great place would definitely recommend"

"excellent evening, we sat in the air mens bar, which checked the menu and the wine list about an excellent gin and tonic as we were early. a 3-course menu was presented as the festive season. basic choices of meat, fish and vegetarian, but not an extensive menu, in contrast to the wine list that has a very good choice. eating was tastefully presented with appropriate portion size, some can say small, but it did not let them blossom. we were served hot nuts and warm brot with 3 types of spread, also the blue cheese was declared delicious and we are not fans of blue cheese. we had tomato gazpacho with sun-dried tomatoes and the darkened healed. cod as net and also venison, both cooked to perfection. soufflé on the desert menu and it is always our choice. also cooked for perfection. with rose from proven e and a pint noir from the Loire Valley, our choice. restaurant is very beautiful, tables are not close, piano game from the gallery, attentive service, but not over camp. restaurant was very busy, but they never felt rushed. tee and coffee afterwards with some beautiful petit four and a nightcap. a really nice evening. highly recommended"

"We had an excellent evening at the restaurant. We were seated in the airy bar area and enjoyed reviewing the menu and wine list while sipping on a delicious gin and tonic. We were presented with a three-course menu as it was the festive season. The menu offered a good selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian options, although it was not extensive like the impressive wine list. The food was tastefully presented with reasonable portion sizes, some may find them small but they didn't leave us feeling bloated. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm nuts and bread with different spreads, including a delicious blue cheese spread which we enjoyed despite not being fans of blue cheese. We ordered tomato gazpacho with sun-dried tomatoes and blackened halibut for starters, followed by cod and venison for mains, all of which were cooked to perfection. For dessert, we chose the soufflé, which was also perfectly cooked. We paired our meal with a rose from Provence and a pinot noir from the Loire Valley. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere with well-spaced tables and live piano music. The service was attentive but not overbearing, even though the restaurant was busy. We ended the evening with tea, coffee, petit fours, and a nightcap. Overall, it was a lovely evening and we highly recommend this restaurant."

"A group of six of us get together every couple of months for a gentlemen 's lunch . We first went to Vivat Bachus almost exactly five years ago and enjoyed it, so decided to return. How things have changed! We went on a Friday lunchtime and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant., making it one of the flattest environments I can recall in recent years. The Cheese Room, which we so enjoyed last time, is shut and the South African dishes such as ostrich are no longer on the menu. We all thought there was a good chance it may not be around that much longer. I had carpaccio and a sirloin steak and I have to confess they were both very good, which is the only reason I have rated this as three stars. Even as I write I think I may be over-generous. But ... I don 't travel from East Anglia to a South African restaurant in London to eat Sirloin steak. We wont be rushing back."

"we found the food average and the alcohol prices blackmailed. £14 a glass wee (we found when we got the bill, the personal has not shown us the weeping list or advised us in the price) is what I would expect to pay in a first class restaurant not somewhere that sells itself as a casual culinary experience and £5 for 330ml alcohol-free beer and £6 for a 330ml beer really brewdog?. eating was different, but not very good. up from £20 for a main course the options we have chosen (the strange caesar salad and the fish risotto) were disappointing. the salat was a little strange and the fish was overcooked or two smokey and the risotto had no salt in it. we went to a Monday to participate in the open microphone session, but with praise like this we will not return and I would ask if many others with alcohol prices like this."

"For the price you pay, this place is extremely noisy. It was difficult to have a conversation since the tables are packed too closely together. When I'm spending so much on a meal, I expect a better atmosphere. The service was lacking as well; the staff appeared either overwhelmed or indifferent. I had to actually call the gentleman back just to order my sides after he walked away immediately following my main order. On a positive note, the quality of the food was good, so hats off to the chef!"

"Unfortunately I did not get the opportunity to eat in season mayfair when I arrived, the restaurant was closed, tables stacked on top of each other, chairs chained and padlocked. there was a complete waste of time, not to mention, there was no announcement to show if there were any problems that had occurred, the number of restaurants was meaningless no answer. I went so far to check online to see the status of the restaurant, it said it was open, but was not the case. a complete disappointment"

"We had a fabulous evening meal at Corse Lawn restaurant. The actual room could do with a bit of a make over. Most of the pairings were crooked and there were cobwebs on the wall light shades but it sort of added to the quirkiness of it. Can’t fault the food it was really excellent. The wine list was quite extensive but not so that you couldn’t get through it. Can highly recommend. The hotel is owned by the Hine (cognac) family which is why the wine list is excellent. The bar has plenty of choice and we sat in the lounge area for our coffee and petit fours (homemade)."

"When our food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. The flavors were bland and uninspiring, and the presentation was lackluster. We were left disappointed and underwhelmed by the whole experience. Overall, our visit to the Savoy Grill was a letdown. We had high expectations for a memorable dining experience, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. We would not recommend this restaurant to others looking for a special dining experience in London."

"beautiful environment, good service and a pleasant afternoon tea. the Falstaff tea matched us better than the traditional one that had a very small selection of sandwiches and was much too weighted against cake. only so much sugar that a person can take! both options are available at the expensive end of £40 per) for the amount they receive, but it is a pleasant experience and it is worth for a contract."

"A 5 minute walk from Old Street Tube station, this place is easy to miss. No big lights or imposing signs trying to attract your attention but instead signage and a front of house that simply blends in unassumingly with the surrounding area. Nice bar upstairs with plenty of seating and a relaxed and comfortable feel. The restaurant is downstairs and it has a wonderful homely feel to it. The staff are knowledge about both the food and drinks menu. We arrived late (we called to let them know) and even though there was a booking following us, they accommodated us and the food was promptly served and of course... tasty. I'm giving this place 3 stars as we only had mains (our fault for being late) but I'll be returning to sample all 3 courses and I'm expecting to give this little gem at least 4 stars "

"After reading the reviews on TA I booked a table here for a set pre-theatre meal. Once sat down the maitre d gave us the drinks and an a la carte menu. We asked him for the pre theatre set menu but he just coldly pointed to the a la carte menu and said this is it. Confused, we asked what we could choose from the a la carte that was included in the set meal and he then pretended that he didn't understand much english and told us there wasnt a set menu, and then said sorry I haven't updated the website. Very crafty . . So just to be clear they don't cater for theatre goers despite the website saying they do. We walked out and found a lovely restaraunt nearby."

"Beautifully restored historical hotel dating back to 15th century with original beams throughout. Quaint and charming with lovely rooms. Ours, room 1 had a modern refurbished bathroom and was a lovely size equipped with day bed, king beds, dressing table, drawers and wardrobe with ample space. Breakfast must not be missed, this is one of the best places to eat in the village with a reputation for perfect Sunday roasts. Our cooked breakfasts were delicious with lots of choice from full English, eggs royale, vegan and vegetarian options plus cereals, yogurt and granary. Decent sized car park and there are some converted barn rooms that I believe are wheelchair accessible. Lovely friendly staff. Highly recommend."

"Bad food. Loooong wait both for drinks and food. Waiter (owner I was told) got 2 meals wrong. Brought calamari fritti for my husband and I which he never ordered in his life and I can 't stand them as they are like rubber in the UK so would never have ordered that. Waiter insisted I did, not once but 3x! My husband actually asked for whitebait! My husband ordered calf 's liver as a main which is soft and succulent in France, Germany and Greec etc. It was thin and like shoe leather. It is supposed to go into a hot pan, then turned over after a few seconds and taken out of pan served. This is what it should be like "A classic of British cooking, Calf 's Liver is succulently tender and fine grained with a deliciously mild, sweet flavour. More and more people are discovering the delicious flavour of Calf 's Liver due to its place on the menus.« I took it home to give to the dog and foxes!! My friend next to me (we were 13) ordered meatballs which were so salty she couldn 't eat them. Another lady didn 't like how the fish was done. It was mediocre. MY mussels had anorexia. I have photos. They were non existent or if there was one in the shell, it didn 't measure more than 5mm. 20 were empty and the sauce was not nice. Obvs they were not fresh mussels, they were cooked already and just heated up. Lots and lots of small broken shells in the sauce. Must have been the last dregs. Just as well I didn 't swallow one of the shards. Will I go back? No, I 'll go to a real Italian restaurant next time. Bragging about an Italian chef! He needs to go on a cookery course IN ITALY! I lived, ate and cooked there. I know what Italian food is supposed to taste like!!!!! And sooo expensive."

"Skylon is a curate 's egg. The location with stunning wide river view is hard to beat, but you are literally paying for that. The staff are welcoming and attentive (apart from not taking coats, which are hard to accomodate at the tables . Skylon 's prices in particular on drinks are over the top for the fare on offer. Skylon is the 'brasserie ' end ' of the room, but two of us still paid £150 for 2 courses each and a £40 bottle of wine between us (one of few 'affordable ' options on the list . My halibut was delicious but inexcusably tepid it was cooked OK so must have sat around before despatch to table. Frankly if I have to spend that much to enjoy this venue I will stick to the Skylon Grill at the other end of the room in future at least there are tablecloths and comfy seats there ; (However, I was lucky not to book there this time there was a large and very noisy party taking place in the Grill . Heads up for the over 40 's the dim lighting makes a nice ambience but doesn 't work well with menus printed in grey, small font. Reading glasses and phone light recommended!"

"The food was average, the service was okay, and the atmosphere was lacking due to COVID-19 restrictions which seemed to be an excuse to provide minimal effort. We may not come back as our reservation was for 7:45 pm, but due to COVID-19 restrictions starting at 6:00 pm, we had to dine earlier. We only found out about the change in dining time when we called the restaurant, as they did not contact us beforehand. While we are trying to support businesses during this time, it is disheartening when a restaurant seems more focused on doing the bare minimum."

"I was in a couple of times, last to the breakfast. I would have to compete with some of the other reviewers that eating is great, the service is good, but sometimes obstructed by a lack of sufficient English and it will be very fast loud if there is a reasonable number of people. Don't take that table on the stairs, either I've always been afraid that I'm standing backwards and falling down, or that I'm being cheated by someone who's coming in a hurry. even on weekdays, the desire is even worse when the young things come after work for a drink. once I left without waiting for dessert or coffee, as the antik at the bar has got a bit much. eat good sorts, good...read more"

"Living locally allows us to visit this restaurant at a moment's notice and enjoy the beautiful views of the estuary on a late summer day. It is ideal for avoiding the tourist crowds. We chose to sit inside and order from the bar terrace menu. The service was exceptional, with water provided for our table. Despite our waitress admitting she was new to the venue, everything was very efficient. We had a variety of small plates to share, including fries, lamb kebabs, duck salad, and Thai balls with dipping sauce. Everything was delicious, except for the duck salad which lacked crispiness and quickly became soggy. It could benefit from added texture, such as small wraps. The prices were a bit higher than expected, but the food was tasty and well-presented. We, along with other guests, asked for the air conditioning to be turned off, and our request was promptly granted. We are excited to try their Indian tasting plates, which seem to be offered annually and are highly sought after. We will have to book quickly before they sell out."
