"I was really impressed with this place. My nephew has a dairy allergy and the staff were really caring and attentive to make sure he got some food he loved. It was great to see. Thanks! The rest of us had amazing food too. There was so much great sounding stuff on the menu I'm looking forward to trying more. I had the pork belly as a starter because I really wanted to try to barbecue sauce. It was so lovely! A lovely depth of flavour. Blue cheese burger for my main and again it was gorgeous. The relish was lovely too and again so full of flavour. The family had other burgers are were all really impressed. Whatever you do don't miss the ice cream for dessert. Top notch gelato with fabulous flavours. We especially loved the fruit cake flavour. The setting for this place is lovely too. I look forward to coming back in the summer and dining outside. Thanks for a great meal and see you again soon!"

"The experience was just okay. The menu was significantly limited compared to what was available online, and the options were quite sparse. When we arrived, I had to chase someone down at the bar multiple times before I could let her know that we had a reservation, only to be met with the response, "No one told us that!" We were informed that we would just be seated somewhere, and while the place wasn't busy, it was quite loud due to a group of four very drunk patrons who were being quite unruly. We had a gift voucher, but I ended up having to go to the cash register to pay since no one came to take our bill. It took four employees to finally figure out how to process our credit card, which delayed our payment and departure. I feel bad for the cook because the food was quite good, but everything else about the experience fell short. It felt more like a pub than a proper restaurant."

"Really impressed with the Six Halts. We hadn’t booked a table as when we’d been before it was quiet, but when we arrived the place was really busy and there was only one table available, which had plates on from the previous customer. Straight away the staff cleaned the table and seated us, our drinks were served quick as there was a lot of staff working, and when we ordered food it came quicker than expected as it was so busy. The customer service was faultless and the food was lovely too. We had a really nice experience and would definitely go back."

"Booked a table in advance, as I was planning to visit on a Sunday morning. Arrived at my booked time, no greeting from any of the numerous staff members. Waited until I was approached by a grey haired waitress who would be more at home on a parade ground it would seem. She seemed to think the best way to approach a customer was to bark “name?” at me before bothering to ask if I’d made a booking or not. She then casually wandered off, returning a few minutes later to ask my name again. Was shown a table, given a menu and within literally 2.5 mins of me sitting down, she was over asking for my order. I had to politely say that I wasn’t sure yet and could I have a few more minutes; she seemed to think it was ok to sigh and wander off again. Very odd behaviour indeed. I heard her berating another table of two for their audacity to assume they didn’t have to book, and how she’d need the table back in 45 mins or less. I ordered the small breakfast, and it was mediocre at best. Poached egg was hard all the way through, one measly veggie sausage which was tasteless and some veggie haggis that was bland and cold. Really not worth the price tag. I’ve no idea how this place is still in business. The extremely rude woman who is front of house seems to have a reputation for being awful, as read in other reviews. And the food is nothing to write about. Sadly I won’t be back, nor would I recommend Heaven Scent to anyone I like!"

"I did visit here based on the good reviews I had read. However, I was very disappointed by what I was offered the service. I was visiting the area on a trip to cheddar gorge popped in here to grab a quick fulfilling breakfast before heading off for a day of adventure. I was one of the first into the restaurant and I greeted the waitress on shift but was not greeted with a particularly warm welcome. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast which was overpriced and greasy. Being the only place open for breakfast at that time, there is an opportunity to really own the space with no competition at that time, but I was left regretting my decision with x2 1 3rds of a pepper fried in oil, potatoes fried in oil, sausages, egg and mushrooms which I’m sure could (and probably were) all fried in one pan. I couldn’t finish it all because of the amount of grease I can’t say that I have experienced this, however I feel the feel, taste and presentation of the food was what I would expect if I was a trucker passing a rest stop and the food was more for convenience than passion for food. I had a glass of orange juice and an oat milk latte which was pleasant and tasted fresher than the rest of the breakfast. The toilet is a little strange too, being a male female baby changing which I can understand have no issue with. However, it was not well kept or finished and looked again like something you would find on a rest stop in America on a longer route highway where there is no competition and through necessity would be chosen to attend. It’s a shame, I would love to commend this place, but the only thing I can say is the coffee was nice the cakes looked tasty. But other than that, cheap food prepared with little care quality of presentation and very expensive for what you get. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for nice food, there are plenty of other places that open an hour later (which are worth it when combined with the quality of the food vs convenience)."

"I visited the restaurant for an evening meal with my nephew, and it was definitely a paradise for meat lovers. However, they also offered some intriguing vegetarian options and accommodated my gluten-free needs as a celiac. My nephew raved about his 14oz T-Bone steak, calling it excellent, while my burger with cheese and speck was truly delicious. The overall dining experience exceeded my expectations, especially considering the price — just £49 for both of us, which included two drinks each and three courses. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, making the experience even better. I will definitely be returning!"

"Superb breakfast. High quality produce...proper bacon and sausages nothing worse than cheap sausages! Served with either white or brown toast or bread. Real bread, not 'Duck Bread ' : I don 't eat fried/poached or scrambled eggs, so had hash browns instead as a straight swap. My friend had scrambled eggs on toast, which was also enjoyed very much. I think the only thing wasted was the foil wrapping from my butter. Thank you to the staff and well done x x"

"While they may have recently expanded their menu, they now offer options such as pizza with vegan cheese and a vegan burger. Customers can also inquire about additional vegan choices. While there is a fee to drive to this location, the stunning views make it worth the cost."

"Visited for first time. Really enjoyed the food and service was really good. Friendly and welcoming staff with advice and recommendations on what to choose. Three of us went, all three had different starters and different mains. All happy with our meals. Love that the food is freshly prepared and home made. My hummus was really lovely and came with loads of naan. My home made veggie burger was really good too. Plenty of food mixed grill was really big! and great relaxed atmosphere- we’ll definitely be back. Reminder that if you go it’s cash not cards."

"Very rude staff! My husband and I sat outside today as it was a sunny afternoon. He went in to buy the drinks. I was driving so drinking zero beer. After a while, I went in to use the loo. The two young girls behind the bar asked if they could help and I politely explained I was outside and just wanted to use the toilet. One of the girls replied Whatever! in an obnoxious tone. I was utterly taken aback. A more mature woman who I assumed was in charge was sitting at the bar on her phone. She must have heard it but said nothing! The cheeky girl then gave me an impudent smile when she came outside to collect glasses. If you can 't be polite to customers, get another job!! Won 't be back.. place was quiet so that tells a story in itself on a sunny Saturday in August."

"Friends had various burgers, which were served with fries and slaw. I wasn't that hungry, so went for a portion of cheesey chips. Unfortunately, the image i had of these in my mind didn't match with what arrived at the table. They turned out to be a large bowl of fries with squirty cheese on top. Im sure some people will have loved these, but not me. However, the meals had by friends were hot, plentiful and yummy."

"This place is one of my favorite places to go to get food, I love it so much! There is such a range of food which is all amazing, my personal highlight being the chili cheese nachos which are some of the best I have...had! The food is all freshly made and prepared and you can tell because it all tastes amazing! It is all cheap as well for to portions you get. The drinks as well are really good, with all their juices and the lemonade tasting really fresh. On top of that, the staff are so friendly and nice, and always have a chat whilst preparing my food. You can tell that they all enjoy working there, which makes it such a nice place to visit! Its one of the best places to go for lunch in the lanes!"

"The food was tasty and portion sizes meant a starter and large main left us feeling pleasantly full however... I would unfortunately say that though the waiters were polite and good with providing drinks (using the service button on the table to get their attention), getting food was incredibly slow. We were a group of 10 and had booked a couple of weeks in advance we ordered starters and mains, but despite having a 7pm booking we didn't get mains until around 9pm. It was fine but noticeably slow with no mention of a wait when booking our table, or updates from staff on how long it'd be. It made matters worse as we saw other people turn up after we ordered, and still receive their starters and mains before we had ours. We'll likely go back, but definitely in smaller groups."

"After sitting in 2 hours of traffic we arrived here to be greated at the door and seated by a lovely young lady. We were handed menus and we advised we didn't mind how long they took as we were in no rush as our trip home was impossible. We chatted with our waitress and her manager due to food allergies and they were both amazing and fully understood how much of a nightmare customer group we were. When our food arrived it was lovely, tasted good and was hot and well presented. The staff checked we were OK and the food was OK we advised all was good. We chatted to the 2 ladies after our dinner and had a bit of a giggle before finally being able to continue our journey. Top restaurant and top staff. We will return."

"I visited this restaurant for the second time in 10 days and was once again impressed. After enjoying their delicious Mexican cuisine during my first visit, I decided to return and try their Indian food. I was blown away by the amazing dishes and the top-notch service provided by every member of the staff. The owner's wife even came by to check if everything was to our liking. I plan on returning again this week to try their Thai food. Kudos to everyone at the restaurant, I would rate my experience a 15/10 if I could! Overall, a fantastic dining experience."

"Alkthough I have lived in Saltash many years I hadn't visited the Cardinals Hatt for a meal before. For a Christmas treat my sister in law and husband took us to this restaurant on Sunday the 8th December for a carvery lunch. Well what a...pleasant surprise, we don't usually like carverys but this was excellent, the best we have had. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, the staff pleasant and well turned out. We were promptly able to help ourselves to our meal, !st rule for me the plate has to be hot, tick. The meat was succulent, I had the gammon, our relatives had the choice of turkey beef or pork, all agreed was delicious. The roasties were hot and delicious as were the many other choices of veg. We were so filled up we asked if we could have coffee in the lounge, no problem, so we had a lovely relaxing coffee in comfort. We had no complaints and will be returning soon."
