"I was really excited to eat at Salt Bar. I’m a big fan of Scandi Food. Unfortunately I left disappointed. I don’t have any real complaints about the food but can’t say I was wowed, I'm didn’t meet my expectations. But is suppose that’s on me really. Service was slow, this is due to staff training I believe. We had a lad who took our orders multiple times, and seemed cause some confusion in the kitchen. That said, the more experienced caught it before it became a real problem and our order came out correct. I never have an issue with training, everyone has to start somewhere. My BIGGEST issue however was RIGHT AFTER ordering dessert a waitress informed us we had to be gone in 10 minutes. Which made the whole table feel immediately uncomfortable. Most of us couldn’t even remember dessert because we suddenly felt so unwelcome That we scoffed it down as quick as possible. The next table also came in early which made things worse. Ironically it took them almost 5 minutes to give us the bill. I feel that request would have been reasonable had WE been particularly slow on ordering, or eating. But the truth is it was the service that slowed everything down. It felt like we where being penalised suddenly for a mistake that wasn’t our own. I feel it is completely unacceptable to shift the consequences of your own mismanagement on to your customers. Honestly it ruined what was otherwise an enjoyable dinner amongst friends."

"We stayed here for two nights. The room was fine, quite small but expected for the type of building. The room was fine but had no toiletries at all inside which wad advertised and expected for the rate. There is also no fridge in the rooms. You are advised to collect milk for the room in the corridor outside the rooms, where flasks for each room are left and can be refilled if left outside the fridge on the side. Unfortunately on a number of occasions we left our flask out and did not have it refilled, and we then had to keep asking at the bar for milk which felt like an inconvenience when we asked. Apart from this the room was fine and was cleaned both days as we asked. The parking is horrendous, and the staff are not too helpful in assisting you with this. They suggest you park behind the church which is a road in the middle of nowhere, with an overgrown path to reach the pub. We checked this option out but it is not acceptable and would not advise to leave your car there! We did not and managed to squeeze on the road after circling the area. Parking is advertised on booking.com but is somewhat misleading as there is only around 5 spaces which are always full. In terms of food, we were expecting a lot more. We had limited options as are not massive meat eaters or fish eaters. There was no chicken on the menu, and we felt the only thing we could order was the fish and chips which was rubbery and did not seem to be cooked correctly. For pudding, one of us got a chocolate mousse that unfortunately was awfully presented and looked like dog mess slapped on a plate. The other got only one scoop of ice cream in a tiny dish when we asked for 2 scoops. This was poorly presented too. In terms of breakfast the food wasn't bad, but it took ages to come. We were offered and juice the first day and ended up finding some cartons left on the side to help yourself to. On both days we were never offered another tea or coffee and were pretty much left to our own devices to work out the setup. One major concern which I would raise, is that a lot of drinking goes on there and unfortunately we noticed a lot of drink/drunk drivers leaving the pub. Staff must note this and know the customers are driving off drunk. If we'd have reported these drivers we would have been onto the Police all night and not something we want to be doing on our holidays. This needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency. Overall feel a bit mislead by the photos and previous reviews, and will not be returning. Such a shame as the location is nice, but food and service need improvement."

"As part of a group of six for a mid week visit for dinner we left this restaurant feeling disappointed and utterly underwhelmed. Upon arrival nobody asked if we wanted to have our coats stored and we were ushered away from the bar where we wanted to have a pre-dinner drink. We were given one menu on a tablet between six people. In fairness one of our party has severe allergy issues and was presented with a special menu prepared for them...that was a lovely touch..but then again this is supposed to be a Two Michelin star establishment so you might expect that. The main menu itself was very limited which in starred restaurants is not of course unusual. Our table was nice enough but the lighting was extremely low. The table had a lamp in the middle but nobody told us the lighting level was self adjustable... we discovered this just before leaving..! A pre starter snack arrived a sausage roll ..what would a 2 star restaurant sausage roll taste like ?....well in all honesty just like a sausage roll you get in a decent bakery... ,,...as we started to tuck into our sausage roll our starters arrived almost immediately..so we had to start moving plates ourselves whilst hastily trying to finish our pre-starter..The three courses that followed were the most mundane Michelin stared dishes I have ever had. Naturally having looked at the menu beforehand I knew Mr Kerridge 's take was on more traditional plates of food....but in a 2 star restaurant you expect them to be elevated somewhat....don 't you...? The service was passable but the staff looked awkward and uncomfortable. However for me seeing a member of the kitchen staff wander out to congregate with front of house staff at the service desk for a natter whilst biting and picking his nails...was...well ..disconcerting. In a two Michelin Star restaurant you expect some wow factor somewhere across the experience and we certainly got ours ...when the bill arrived ..£1,200 for six people two bottles of low end priced wine and a round of drinks before dinner included . For Two Michelin Starred food and service that figure would be comparable with other two starred establishments around the UK....but for this food and experience it was certainly not. Mr Kerridge....I love what you have done for the food and hospitality industry in the UK but I am afraid the Hand Flowers is a Gastro Pub and nowhere near a Two Star restaurant."
