"despite our email reminding us of the booking, the restaurant does not have the reservation in its system. for happiness, or unhappy, as it turned out, there were tables available. we had to sit up from the first (very tiny) Ywo-person table we were given when the seats were held too bad, without them being moved every time they were in their seat. the waiter missed our order for a starter, so our main courses arrived first. After we sent them back, we finally got our joint Nachos plate. we joked when we came to the main course that we hoped that this was not the same burgers they had used until 30 minutes before. not really sure we got a response to this question, but it was a mumble...still for debate. the burgers were best moderate, only served with fries and an uninspiring koleslaw. it's a very long time since I've ever eaten here, the youngest visits are only drinks. I don't want to go back based on this experience. frankie and bennys are over the road and I would prefer there now."

"from beginning to end, this can only be described as one of my worst restaurants experiences. we were a little early on our table so we were invited to stand at the bar to wait for our table. we waited and waited and waited for twenty minutes to serve and there was only one person in front of us. We were totally ignored while the two people behind the bar took care of the table orders. eating ordered and when it came, it was wrong so that the food of my wife had to go back. another order was also wrong and they promised to bring the fritten asap. they came when we all finished our eating. the food of my wife came back right, but the plate was full of fat and pommes was microwave. eating all looked completely inconspicuous. the manager took the cost for the meal of my wife from the bill and the riders who never arrived but nothing for our experience or offered more drinks. unnecessary to say that we never go back. it felt as if they really did not deal with the volume of people."

"Love this place. My wife and I had reserved a table here on Saturday night after a day at Chester races. The food was first class, as was the wine. Service was a perfect balance of being engaging yet not too intrusive. The atmosphere was intimate and friendly. "Had breakfast there on Sunday. Great choice of food and nice place inside. Coffee was a bit lacking in flavour though, and my full breakfast, although tasty, was all different teperatures. Sausages, pancake and potatoes were hot but eggs, tomato and bacon were pretty cold. Would expect all ingredients to be kept warm and plated together? Will go there again though and hope for better luck next time, as overall was still pleasant."

"We visited with friends over from Australia that we haven't seen for 12 years. The service was fabulous. Our children were given activity sheets and colouring, the servers (Rolla and Melodie) were so attentive and were happy to give us time to chat, to take the childrens orders first and us order slightly later. We were not hassled to hurry up, the servers were attentive and the general manager (Chelsea) kept checking in and had a banter, took pictures for us and everyone generally made us feel welcome alongside the meal being delicious. All questions about the menu were answered and they even charged a phone for us. Truly a delightful experience and we will be back. Thank you"

"We have been to Frankie Bennies in the Highcross four times in the last three weeks and each time we have been very impressed. The service is fantastic and the food has been lovely each time. We would highly recommend the Big Breakfast, its amazing value for money and the bacon is to die for....the best I have ever had. The coffee is wonderful and as many refills as you want, we were even offered one to take out with us this morning.....well done Frankie and Bennies......we will be back next week!!!!"

"eat well, service terrible. we were here with the family, we were 30 minutes early, so server said we could sit, but would have to wait up to 2 our shipped time before we served, never known before. we asked if we could have drinks, and after ten minutes they took our order, but it was 10 minutes before we got them. placed food order a5unsere prescribed time that came to eat and it was really good. they forget the pfeffer grain sauce, but that came when we asked. had to wait for a particularly long time until my enkelin eis came, had to ask twice. I think there were probably not enough staff in the kitchen because there was enough on the floor and it was not very busy. so it was a thumb for eating, but service terrible"

"absolutely horrific from beginning to end. we had our 2 year old son with us, which means that meal times in the regular are made quite fast as we get the food at once and he eats quickly. not this time! we were there about 2 hours because of the shocking service. it wasn't busy and it seemed to be more employees than customers, so there was simply no excuse. highlights included: the woman asked for a j20, was brought quite another drink. small child received a color leaf and then said there were no crayons to use. he asked that all foods (beginners and main things) be brought out at the same time, we got the adult starter after about 20mins. no sign of the rest of the food. the adult starter was then deleted, and 20mins later the rest of the food arrived, including the child starter?! margherita pizza had practically no cheese on it and was flat cold, took a bite and sent him back what I have never done before! the replacement had a little more beeping, but still quite naked. had to remind the waiter several times to get cute. to dessert we ordered a coffee and an ice cream. nothing came up for over 20 minutes, we chased it up. then they brought the ice and ice. No sign of coffee at the place where we 'd finish the other desserts. I went in and canceled so we could go. the only plus point was when I asked to pay so that we could go, the waiter tried to serve the cashier and "pressed the wrong taste '. he went to another, until with a colleague, after 5mins of the head scratches, he then gave me a bill for. £9.70! Not bad for a three cursor meal for three of us with drinks. I paid and went, thought they had something for the terrible service, but about the reflexion and no one said everything I think they just messed up the bill. probably the worst culinary experience I've ever had, pathetic simply because we had a nice day and the sun seemed."

"had a nice late lunch, early dinner at frankie benny in gunwharf quays. harrison took care of us. very friendly and gave us additional time if I could not decide what to order. the best part was that he didn't come by and looked after us when we had full the month. that always brings me. I hope he waited and appreciated it perfectly. I liked that. was great eating. very tasty and filling. mac and cheese burger with Cajun cheeseries. my new fav! Five stars."

"Went on the off chance of getting a table around 5:45pm on a Saturday. We did and the waiter was very helpful. I had a groupon offer showing but he said that it takes around 6 hours to get the offer come through. My partner has the Taste app/card which gives 2-4-1 so we was allowed to use that. We had three courses each. Two soft drinks for just over £32! We had lovely service. Hot food. Quick service and lovely atmosphere with clean establishment. Well done Gloucester! Thank you so much. "My partner and I went to this restaurant for the second time in two weeks. The first time we went, the service was not great and the waiter made mistakes with our orders because they didn't speak English well. However, on our second visit, we were able to use a voucher that we hadn't been able to use before. The service was better and faster this time. The food was tasty, although my partner's crab dish was still frozen in the middle and had to be sent back. When it finally came out, it was delicious. This restaurant may not be the best choice for a quiet evening out, as there were always children dining and it could get quite noisy."

"I was disappointed with the service at this restaurant. From the start, the person who greeted us dropped all the menus on the floor. Our server, a woman with short blond hair, did not check on us during our meal as expected. I was disappointed to find that my burger did not have red onions as stated on the menu, and the server did not mention this at all. After finishing our meal, we waited a while for her to come over as she was preoccupied with folding napkins and not attentive to our table. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the staff seemed uninterested and provided the worst customer service I have ever encountered."

"Sadly Frankie Bennys is no longer a go to place for us. 10 years ago, the decor was much nicer as it tried to ape the old school Italian American restaurants of the 1950 's, but today 's decor is bland and uninteresting. The wait for food was well over an hour, not remotely enough kitchen staff to cope, glad we didn 't have the starters as that would have dragged the night on even further. The menu? A shadow of what it used to be, and £17.90 for a double burger and fries is Steak prices. £3.90 for a large Coke is beyond ridiculous, cheaper to drink alcohol. The food was simply OK, there isn 't the choice their used to be, no more Little Italy Mussels, the pizza whilst freshly made wasn 't exactly filling, not very large and thin. I wouldn 't mind so much, but in the past it was quite expensive to eat there but then they had a much broader menu, today, not nearly as much and yet for four of us and a small child, our bill exceeded £100, and that was no starters and no desserts. The problem for me is I don 't see Frankie Bennys justified in charging that much anymore, it all feels very corporate chain, certainly not the same as a small independent restaurant that could charge that much, it feels like a slightly posher experience than Burger King or McDonalds. End of the road for us, our last time."

"I made two phone calls after making a reservation through OpenTable, and both times they said they had no record of my booking. It was for my daughter's birthday, and even on the day of the reservation, the manager insisted we didn't have a booking before finally admitting we had one for 5pm, when my app clearly showed it was for noon. They were able to seat us eventually, but the attitude was really poor. However, our waiter was fantastic and the food was good. It's a shame about their booking system."
