"The service at this restaurant was awful. Our order was forgotten and arrived late, after we had already been waiting for an hour. When we called to inquire about our order, we were told that they had not even started preparing it. "Attended a pre wedding party yesterday evening on August hosted by the Nandas (please check with the host and don’t deny the fact that this party ever happened or I did not attend like you do in response to your other reviews). To start with, horribly slow starter service. For a table service one would expect either the food to be replenished quickly or at least bought out when asked. Here you get a response, “wait, it’s being cooked.” No please, no sorry, in short, no manners. Here’s the real problem though. A restaurant of this size says, we have run out of Chicken Nuggets for kids. Who doesn’t have spare nuggets in the kitchen? And if not, should you not offer more chips instead? Keeping kids hungry is just not done. The mains were just okay quality/quantity wise but nowhere near their restaurant food. We have been to the restaurant many times and hence our expectations were a bit high, probably different chefs for restaurant and parties or whatever. But no complaints in general on mains and desserts. The final nail in the coffin. After dancing, I go to the bar asking for WATER. The very NICE lady says, “we don’t have any water jugs back here.” I ask for TAP WATER instead. She goes, “We don’t have any glasses.” I can clearly see at least crates of nice clean glasses behind the bar. Tired and really thirsty, I go to the other side near the kitchen end asking a waiter for water. Her response is even more alarming. NO WATER IN THE KITCHEN. Even my year old would not buy this answer. I really demand an explanation on the reason for not providing the most basic necessity to your guests. It was at night and did not want to raise it back then at the venue but without any explanation to this, I doubt anyone reading this review will ever want to host a party with Venue unless THE HOSTS ARE READY TO TAKE ABOUT BOTTLES OF LITRE WATER WITH THEM. In a nutshell, Venue did all they could to ruin the evening for the lovely couple.For anyone thinking to host an event here in the future, I am more than happy to come forward and share my experience in more details. YES, there was more than this but not trivial."

"This restaurant never disappoints. The food was excellent, matched by the attentive service. We met up with friends and shared the vegetarian feast. So often we go to restaurants and my vegetarian husband gets the short end of the stick, not this evening. We all thoroughly enjoyed the selection of dishes and scoffed the lot! A definite must every time we visit Bournemouth. Child friendly and reasonably priced."

"Ordered a chefs special (Asian style) pizza however I received some random pizza with donner on it. Even the donner was raw and did not taste right so had to bin it. Very disappointed as was looking forward to a decent pizza. Ordered few times before and it was good however was really badly let down this time. Won't be ordering again for sure. Their pizzas are pricey but still can't get the order right."

"Having travelled 4hrs, booked into our lodgings we needed food. Being on the way from hungry to hangry it had to be good. We couldn’t have picked a better place. The welcome was warm and inviting, the service was patient and with a smile. The food was exceptional. We tried dishes we hadn’t tried before and were very happy. The restaurant was nicely presented and we were never going to be sat on top of each other had it been full. The man in charge was very amenable and his local knowledge and chat was welcome. We left content, full stomachs and pleasantly satisfied. Thank you."

"During a recent tour of London, our party of six (five 55+ adults and one 12YO male) decided to stop here for lunch. Since it was quite chilly that day (40 F and windy), we were wearing coats, sweaters, and nice jeans. Upon entering, the maitre d ' manager (I assume) made a comment to the effect of “Well, you certainly seem to have dressed warm today”. Maybe it was an attempt at humor, but it wasn’t exactly a friendly greeting. Seeing that the restaurant only had a party of five and a party of two seated, we asked if a table was available. Maitre d ' manager’s response was “Do you have a reservation?” Obviously not, or we would have said that when we entered. He said he’d see what was available, walked away, came back a few minutes later and asked a waitress to seat us at a table that was already set for six. The food (sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, chicken noodles, Szechuan beef, egg fried rice, white rice) was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was attentive, polite and gave us time to savor our meal. Meanwhile, the maitre d ' manager never once checked on us. He did, however, take the time to seat, take the order of and personally serve two young ladies seated directly across from our table who ordered Afternoon Tea. I also observed that at no time during our meal did the restaurant have more than a dozen patrons, including our party, and many were dressed in the same manner that we were. I’ve read this is supposed to be one of London’s best Asian restaurants. That’s certainly true from a food perspective. Unfortunately, some the staff’s attitude distracts from that."

"If you really knew what happens in this place you wouldn't wish to eat there. If your a veggie watch out the kitchen use boiled chicken water even in egg fried rice or veggie curry. The rice that get served if not used goes back into the streamer to be re served to another customer. It's as fresh as coming out freezers and packets look as you go to the small smelling toilets there a freezer on right just open it up The list goes on including there back area where staff toilet is has meat left out in open. Fridge is not stacked to how government hygiene says it should be. The owner not owners if you look it up does not care and finds it funny if someone wishes to make a comment. Service is slow and just about par but not for price you pay. Hot pot is hot s**t all from packets and been defrosted more then a couple of times for some parts of it. Yes hygiene inspector is being called and photo's will be on way."

"China Star has been serving the Chinese food needs of Haymarket for a number of years. I’d popped in on a number of occasions, both for sit-in and takeaway . Much in the same fashion as nearby Eastern Cuisine the place has had highs and lows over the years. I was hopeful of catching it on a good day when I visited. "I love this Chinese Take Away. It is run by a lovely family who are always polite and helpful. It is clean and always smells so good. If I could buy the scent of their food as a candle, my house would be lit up with many tiny, dancing flames. The portions are large and you have the option to order any dish on the menu as an even larger portion for a very small price increase. The hot and sour soup is a particularly delight, with a deep flavour you don't get anywhere else. The only gripe I could possibly have is that they only use thin noodles for their chow mein. My daughter loves the thin noodles but I prefer medium or udon. If they offered a choice of noodle size this place would be perfect. But that is a small complaint and only based on my own preference. Seriously, give it a try, you won't be disappointed."

"I recently revisited this Chinese restaurant in Finnieston before a night out and was not disappointed. The interior may be basic, but the food more than makes up for it. Seeing Chinese students dining in was a good sign and indicated that the food was authentic. I tried the Chicken and Black Bean dish this time, and it was delicious. It seems like they may have a new chef, but the taste was still just as great as I remembered. The portions were generous and filled me up nicely before a few drinks. My friends tried the crispy shredded beef, which was also a large portion. I will definitely be returning soon."
