"We were really looking forward to having our first night out as a couple in a very long time! We were given a dining out card as a Christmas gift and decided we would use the green man as the first time using a vintage inn. Really sorry to say, but this place needs an awful lot of work! It was very very quiet which usually means good service in most places. However, not the case here. As I am currently trying to eat healthy, I’d already decided what I was going to order prior to arrival after checking on the website. However, it was kindly explained to me by the waitress (I think the only time we saw her) that you couldn’t remove a sauce from a meal as no food is prepared fresh, it is pre-portioned first thing in the morning and reheated throughout the day so I cannot remove the sauce from any meal. However, a female manager did then by chance ask if we were okay and she explained that we would be able to have the sauce on the side. However, all of this was irrelevant as when I saw another table the fishcakes the sauce comes on the side anyway, not the best start. The starters were pretty mediocre, just deep fried stuff, but hey it’s not high end prices so you can live with it. Not sure why with no need to cook anything they took so long. This was the first time we saw the cook, a young girl with long dark hair, casually strolling through the restaurant in a uniform that looked like it hadn’t been washed in a week, playing on her phone and running her hands through her hair, I’d bet any amount of money they weren’t washed before back on the microwaves and deep fryers. The waitress did show up for the second and last time to remove the starter plates with a ‘How was it’ comment. This now became more of a comedy night than a meal out. Our hair playing cook then sent out the mains, and if you’ve ever seen that episode of friends where Chandler lives with the crazy guy that dehydrates everything, well I assume he was the 2nd cook. Have a look a the Brocolli served with the fish cakes. It is genuinely funny! We couldn’t complain, there was nobody about anymore. Oh other than when we finished the illusive waitress appeared from nowhere quicker than the flash super hero to clear a nearby table, I then realised it was because they’d been silly enough to leave a tip on the table. Of which she didn’t bother to wipe once she’d banked the cash. The manager lady did come and eventually take our plates, not asking how anything was, so I quickly asked if the broccoli was meant to be like that. She answered no, and did offer to remove my meal from the bill, it’s a shame because if there had been some sort of check back I wouldn’t have left hungry. So we waited for the bill… and waited… the manager lady had disappeared… the waitress (and I use this term tongue in cheek) was busy on her knees taking through the host stand to a regular drinker, as the other manager (make) in a check shirt walked around the bar on his phone when he wasn’t having banter with drinkers. This isn’t a real restaurant, I wouldn’t bother going if you’ve bothered to get to the end of this long review. I’d imagine this review will only get read by people currently in the restaurant waiting for their mains. If that’s you… get ready for disappointment."

"Was recommended by someone to come in to the restaurant so thought we’d give it a try ... After 20mins on waiting around to be served we finally ordered our food , we then sat back down where the freezer was to the right of me and I could see someone pulling food from the freezer(named brands) out with their hands. After waiting a little more people came in to the coffee shop where they sat down , but the previous persons coffee cups had stayed and they were not moved for the whole of the duration of the couple sitting down , no tables were cleaned and other tables had dirty plates on them. There were a couple of cakes , which I witnessed being cut without a glove on and the cake fell into their hand.... A little while later our food came out where the server didn’t know what food he was giving us and went back into the kitchen to shout to the “chef” and ask what is what , while they argued . Our order was wrong and we was asked “what do you want me to do about it , this is what your ordered” when it wasn’t in fact , I felt very intimidated and just said it’s fine leave it. While eating I could see the kitchen and could see the father and son arguing in the kitchen about another issue and were not very quite about it... The food was nice after all but customer service, cleanliness and attitude about the business is all wrong could defo do with some music as it’s very quite and atmosphere isn’t great !"

"This is the cafe and ice cream parlour which proudly serves Sidolo ice cream which is described as made in Wales by Italians Situated on the sea front just past the market and short walk from Butlins on way to town centre. We decided to treat the kids as it markets itself as an ice cream parlour which we thought would be an experience. The outside of shop is very run down and the interior is tired but very clean. We sat in The window seat overlooking the sea front and it is a nice view have uploaded a picture. The ice cream sundaes were served in tall traditional glasses and looked nice. The ice cream tasted nice too and offers about 10 different types of sundaes priced at £4:35 each. You get a wider selection of ice creams about 30 or more if you have a cone or a tub. The thing that disappointed us was that although marketing as an ice cream parlour where we expected it to be made from scratch we saw that the sundaes are factory prepared and a plastic pot is just inserted into the glass which spoils the overall expected service especially at the price which is similar to a Hagen Dazs cafe where they are prepared from scratch and offered as an experience. However we still enjoyed the ice cream. My wife had the treacle syrup sponge which is a medium portion with custard but is very rich and you would not want it to be bigger. Again, you could see that it was a prepared. Microwave sponge which was a shame as the overall parlour gives the impression of a homemade traditional parlour ... which clearly it is not. The other unique experience was being handed a code to get through a fake doorway which allows you to use the toilets it 's a bit odd .... and massive signs saying toilets only for patrons... despite free council toilets being well placed along promenade. On thing to mention was the very shiny taps in toilets someone obviously takes care and pride in shining them up. Overall, nice factory prepared ice cream, cakes dinners likely similar overpriced for what it is and could get similar sundae and syrup cake from Morrisons cafe for a £1.00 round corner. Disappointingly not the traditional parlour experience we thought it would be ... Shane as could easily get up there and then justify its existence as a parlour and would likely be a popular experience by the holidaymakers at Butlins. By the way, Butlins! also has a bit more expensive parlour on site but offers it in a traditional way so gives bit choice here as well. So, tasty ice cream thumbs up experience thumbs down. Ok visit if want something to do... Hope this helps you readers"
