"Our family visited here during half term, my partner and daughter having been for a swim in the nearby river. My daughter had an ice cream, and two babycinnos, and we ended up having a scone, probably the best piece of coffee and walnut cake I have ever had, and 2 oat milk cappuccinos each. The cake was so good in fact, I bought two more slices of the Coffee and Walnut cake to take away, and a chocolate brownie for my daughter. We popped them in the fridge, and took them on a picnic 2 days later, and they were just as tasty as on the day. This cafe is also really well set up for those of us who are cyclists. Nice easy side gate into the gardens, they do have dedicated bike parking (The type where you hand your bike off the saddle on a scaffolding pole) but I'm sure for those of us who like to keep our bikes in sight, it wouldn't cause an issue to wheel them further in and near your bench. We certainly plan a return visit, and probably to sample their savoury options, which sounded just as good as the sweet ones. Highly recommended."

"Had an excellent breakfast at this charming cafe where the staff are as friendly and welcoming as the atmosphere. We ordered 2 omelettes and they were cooked to perfection and served on spotlessly clean plates. The coffee was delicious and we bothhad 2 cups. The staff cleared the table and checked we were ok and the place felt well run and had a nice mixture of locals and regulars. Would recommend to anyone who values good old fashioned customer service and well cooked generous portions. A genuine Hove institution keep it up!"

"A local gem almost too good to share. Although the dam lane shopping parade is not a glamorous location it does provide accessibility with amble parking not just in front of the shops but also a full car park at the back of the venue. Once inside the vibe is friendly and welcoming would not be out of place in Stockton Heath, Didsbury or Chicago without the high prices and jet lag. The background music is eclectic but conducive to conversation with a crowd ranging from mums and tots , lively senior citizens , local builders/trades and middle aged women on their own like me. With everything freshly made with great produce at great value prices it’s an affordable daily treat for locals like me and people using the A49 and Junction 21A of the M6 take a small detour and have a decent rest stop without the cost of a service station experience, With exceptional standards of customer service and a comprehensive menu from an exceptional range of cooked breakfasts and soups to speciality sandwiches and salads, I rarely resist a take home treat from the great range displayed in Nigel's hand crafted cake display cabinet, other examples of his designs are in the decor and seating with an amusing touch of Fred Flintstone’s style. If you are bringing a four pawed friend there is limited outside seating a la Barcelona without the need for sun block"

"This small cafe/ deli is my absolute favourite place in the West End. They tick all the boxes great coffee, quality ingredients, a lot of atmosphere and efficient service. I would recommend trying the Spanish Chorizo sausage roll. It's got the perfect amount of spice and seasoning, surrounded by a flaky pastry. Another highlight is their savory tartlets simply delicious. They also sell a variety of imported European confectioneries and drinks. Try one of their freshly baked sweets I loved the chili Madeira cake. The owners are almost always present and working in the cafe this shows their commitment and seriousness in maintaining top standards and customer satisfaction. Highly recommend !"

"We were really looking forward to having our first night out as a couple in a very long time! We were given a dining out card as a Christmas gift and decided we would use the green man as the first time using a vintage inn. Really sorry to say, but this place needs an awful lot of work! It was very very quiet which usually means good service in most places. However, not the case here. As I am currently trying to eat healthy, I’d already decided what I was going to order prior to arrival after checking on the website. However, it was kindly explained to me by the waitress (I think the only time we saw her) that you couldn’t remove a sauce from a meal as no food is prepared fresh, it is pre-portioned first thing in the morning and reheated throughout the day so I cannot remove the sauce from any meal. However, a female manager did then by chance ask if we were okay and she explained that we would be able to have the sauce on the side. However, all of this was irrelevant as when I saw another table the fishcakes the sauce comes on the side anyway, not the best start. The starters were pretty mediocre, just deep fried stuff, but hey it’s not high end prices so you can live with it. Not sure why with no need to cook anything they took so long. This was the first time we saw the cook, a young girl with long dark hair, casually strolling through the restaurant in a uniform that looked like it hadn’t been washed in a week, playing on her phone and running her hands through her hair, I’d bet any amount of money they weren’t washed before back on the microwaves and deep fryers. The waitress did show up for the second and last time to remove the starter plates with a ‘How was it’ comment. This now became more of a comedy night than a meal out. Our hair playing cook then sent out the mains, and if you’ve ever seen that episode of friends where Chandler lives with the crazy guy that dehydrates everything, well I assume he was the 2nd cook. Have a look a the Brocolli served with the fish cakes. It is genuinely funny! We couldn’t complain, there was nobody about anymore. Oh other than when we finished the illusive waitress appeared from nowhere quicker than the flash super hero to clear a nearby table, I then realised it was because they’d been silly enough to leave a tip on the table. Of which she didn’t bother to wipe once she’d banked the cash. The manager lady did come and eventually take our plates, not asking how anything was, so I quickly asked if the broccoli was meant to be like that. She answered no, and did offer to remove my meal from the bill, it’s a shame because if there had been some sort of check back I wouldn’t have left hungry. So we waited for the bill… and waited… the manager lady had disappeared… the waitress (and I use this term tongue in cheek) was busy on her knees taking through the host stand to a regular drinker, as the other manager (make) in a check shirt walked around the bar on his phone when he wasn’t having banter with drinkers. This isn’t a real restaurant, I wouldn’t bother going if you’ve bothered to get to the end of this long review. I’d imagine this review will only get read by people currently in the restaurant waiting for their mains. If that’s you… get ready for disappointment."

"This is a fabulous coffee shop and friends and helpful staff. We always go here when we stay at the nearby Warner's Alvaston Hall Hotel. The front of the shop has wonderful gifts and paintings for sale, and the café is at the back with plenty of seating. The main meals look fabulous, but we had a tea cake and a scone and both were delicious as was the pot of tea we had. The prices are very reasonable for all food, and you know you are getting quality. We wouldn't go anywhere else in Nantwich. A great place to visit and looking forward to seeing the management and staff again when we next visit. As an aside my wife purchased some earrings in the shop on our way out, again very reasonable."

"I feel very lucky to have been part of the large group which had the honour of being Feasts very first afternoon tea booking yesterday! From start to finish we couldn’t have been more impressed and the extra little touches (popcorn nibbles to start and an extra surprise sugar kick at the end) made this one of the best afternoon teas I have ever experienced. It was absolutely delicious and amazing value for money. Thank you to Jenn and the whole team for making our afternoon so special!"

"Wandering in town and have 10 minutes to kill. My usual place (not costa) was mega busy. So thought I will do a Costa. Mistake! First off I don 't mind a queue. The inefficency of the staff is what was causing the queue. The staff member being Barista was with the gentleman ahead of me and kept asking what the drinks were. Fine it is a big order.....nope 2 drinks. The staff member then is reminded that he hadn 't paid yet. I then placed my order, cortado and a croissant. The barista then had to ask how to make a cortado once they were in the know, the coffee was ground and the milk steamed. She then realised that there were no cortado glasses! Her colleague went off in search of one, so I thought. She apologised for the delay only for the colleague to return empty handed. When asked there was cortado glasses on the worktop behind her. The best bit.......the ground coffee had been left in the portafilter for the duration. It was then used and so was the milk which had also been standing waiting. Hey presto a luke warm cortado! The croissant was stale, I mean like yesterdays bake stale..... Not a good experience. I enjoy my italian coffee experiences, but this was not one of them."

"We visited for pizza night and had the best time. Food and drink was brilliant and the staff were caring and personable. We were a large table and ordered a variety of pizzas and sides, pizzas were spot on and the staff made sure we had what we needed to have a great night. Live music was a bonus. Returned the next morning for breakfast sandwiches on baked in House bread and coffees that hit the spot. Couldn't recommend enough."

"I can't understand how anyone could give this cafe a 2-star review. My family has been coming to Samuel's Kitchen almost every week for the past 6 years. Either our taste buds are off, or the negative reviews are from people trying to tarnish the reputation of a great cafe. Today, while enjoying our lunch, we overheard a worker being told by his friend that ordering a LARGE pork sandwich might be a challenge. 15 minutes later, he asked for a bag to take half of it home. The portions are generous and we have always had delicious food and good value here. If you don't like it, go somewhere else and let the regulars and newcomers enjoy their meals."

"First off, the place is small, with just a handful of two-top and four-top tables, along with a small counter area. It has a classic feel, as if it has been a part of Richmond's history for ages. Our waiter seemed a bit out of place, but he was attentive and responsive, serving everyone except those at the counter. I ordered the MLT (mayo, lettuce, tomato) and my daughter got the BLT. Although she specifically requested no mayo, it arrived with it. Fortunately, our waiter quickly fixed the mistake. My daughter really enjoyed her sandwich, while I found mine to be just okay. The meat in my sandwich lacked flavor, making it feel rather bland. On a positive note, the homemade pickles were fantastic! The sandwiches themselves were quite generous in size. We also tried a slice of funfetti cake and a mixed berry cake. My daughter loved the funfetti, and I saw another customer raving about it too, so it must be good. The cakes were delicious, and I think they would be even better warm with a dollop of whipped cream on top. Overall, it was a good experience. The menu had a wide selection, so I’m sure I can find something I’d enjoy even more on my next visit. I plan to go back soon!"

"The proprietors have made some good changes inside and out to increase the available seating space. I didn't eat this time but the cakes looked great though a bit pricey for me. The only disappointment was that the toilet facilities are still awful and not part of the Great House Barn. Probably not in the control of the cafe, I noticed that one of the staff members had to use the public toilets outside too, she still had her apron on . I would have expected by now that the cafe would have their own. Maybe more to do with Bolton council and heritage, not sure."

"Was recommended by someone to come in to the restaurant so thought we’d give it a try ... After 20mins on waiting around to be served we finally ordered our food , we then sat back down where the freezer was to the right of me and I could see someone pulling food from the freezer(named brands) out with their hands. After waiting a little more people came in to the coffee shop where they sat down , but the previous persons coffee cups had stayed and they were not moved for the whole of the duration of the couple sitting down , no tables were cleaned and other tables had dirty plates on them. There were a couple of cakes , which I witnessed being cut without a glove on and the cake fell into their hand.... A little while later our food came out where the server didn’t know what food he was giving us and went back into the kitchen to shout to the “chef” and ask what is what , while they argued . Our order was wrong and we was asked “what do you want me to do about it , this is what your ordered” when it wasn’t in fact , I felt very intimidated and just said it’s fine leave it. While eating I could see the kitchen and could see the father and son arguing in the kitchen about another issue and were not very quite about it... The food was nice after all but customer service, cleanliness and attitude about the business is all wrong could defo do with some music as it’s very quite and atmosphere isn’t great !"

"I went to this restaurant yesterday and asked for a bacon sandwich at 11:28, only to be told that they had already stopped serving breakfast at 11:30. Even though it wasn't yet 11:30, the kitchen refused to make me a sandwich. Despite there being very few customers in the restaurant and no one else in line, the staff at the counter were unhelpful and the restaurant manager was rude and inflexible. It seems that the staff prioritize their own convenience over providing good customer service. After speaking to the General Manager named Dean, who admitted the service we received was unacceptable, we were promised better service on our next visit. However, after this experience, we have no plans to return to this restaurant."

"Second chance for this cafe......but will be its last. No acknowledgement on entering despite staff standing chatting, dirty table covered in crumbs, greasy menu and upon asking for the table to be wiped when asked for our order, the waitress did so grudgingly and in a clear display of inconvenience at being asked, swept all the debris onto the floor. At this point we left!! I have no doubt that this is a really good every day cafe, but with customer service like this, I wont be giving it another chance to find out!!"

"During our recent trip to visit Banbrugh Castle, we stumbled upon Trotters while searching for breakfast on Google. Although it is primarily a take-away type establishment, we decided to go in and order a sausage bap for my wife and a bacon and egg bap for myself. We found a bench nearby to enjoy our meal, as it was a particularly hot morning. To keep it short and sweet, I must say that it was without a doubt the best breakfast bap I have ever had, and I've had my fair share in my 55 years. We will definitely be returning to visit the castle again soon, and we will most certainly be back for more of your amazing food."

"Fisher and Donaldson like to think of themselves as 'high class ' bakers and confectioners, and are keen to mention their Royal Warrant. Their baked goods are consistently good, and we should know, as we have been customers for around 50 years. The shop staff, however, are another matter. They range from the very pleasant and helpful to the rude and insolent, and we have experienced it all over the years. It was one of the latter we ran into when we entered the Ceres Road shop today, 23rd of April, just after 3.40pm. The cafe closes at 4 , she informed us before we had even reached the counter. Adding, If that 's where you 're heading . Leaving aside the unpleasant tone, what exactly does that mean? Was she suggesting that Fisher and Donaldson are prepared to serve snacks and drinks until 4pm, and immediately thereafter eject the customers from the cafe? Will the staff order them out? Really? Is that how F&D operate? Or was this person simply trying to discourage potential customers for the convenience of the staff, so that nothing detains them at closing time? That seems more likely. And there 's nothing high class about it. It 's a pity that management, in what is a family business, don 't pay more attention to this aspect of their operation. They should pay close attention to the number of 'terrible ' ratings on Tripadviser. Here is another one, thoroughly well-deserved."

"While out hiking, stumbling upon an unexpected farm shop in the middle of nowhere can be a delightful surprise. That's exactly what happened to me when I came across Plank's. I was thrilled to find something different to eat than the usual rations I had in my backpack from Warminster. The selection at Plank's was impressive and I was greeted by a friendly lady at the till who allowed me to enjoy my meal at a nearby table, which I assumed was typically reserved for staff. I stocked up on water and indulged in a delicious scotch egg, a uniquely shaped pasty at a discounted price, a refreshing pint of cold milk, and a couple of bananas, all while catching up on the day's news in the newspaper. Plank's is located in The Old Potato Yard, a charming enclave of rural businesses nestled between the Wiltshire Downs, offering a true taste of locally sourced produce in a picturesque setting."
