"The best place for South Indian tiffin in Birmingham, without a doubt. I have had a few visits and the food quality has been consistent. Interestingly, they serve the longest dosa in Europe, which is called the Chennai Dosa special. You should not miss it. Bit pricey but the food quality justifies it. Recommended!"

"Great food, good menu variety, polite but slightly odd waiters. The layout is too dense and the front door doesn 't shut so every time someone comes or goes the wind comes in. They charge a 12.5% 'discretionary service fee ' (aka. mandatory tip) THEN have the body nerve to ask if you want to add another tip on top when paying. The service fee is included in the price of the food, it 's not something you can charge extra for. This isn 't the USA, we don 't do mandatory service fees or tipping here and we don 't want to start it, so that sure isn 't on. Avoid this and other restaurants that do this until they sort that out or we 'll be stuck with it."

"I had been here many years before and was delighted it was still open. However although we said we had booked the table on first arriving, it didn’t appear to register. Our coats were not taken and hung up because quite simply there isn’t this service . Instead seeing I was struggling on the tiny two seater table to place my coat anywhere we were ushered to a two seater right at the back by the serving hatches and I was told I could put my coat on top of the utensils behind. Only when we ordered quite a substantial meal and drinks did another waiter seat us at a larger table opposite where our meal could ‘fit’ and my coat could be placed next to me . The meal was however delicious. At the end I mentioned again that we had made a prior reservation but I still don’t think this registered."

"We had food from here (takeaway) some time ago, which was delicious, with real attention to flavour. However, times pass, and things change, and now the Ganapati Takeaway Kitchen has either changed its chef or its recipes, and as with so many Indian restaurants it seems that chilli has become a substitute for real flavour. The Malabari chicken korma, which should have a richer softer flavour, was too spicy for my partner. My Kozhikode chicken curry was certainly hot yet uncomfortably so, without richness and depth of flavour (as context, I'm very fond of a good vindaloo). Added to this, the food is not cheap; mains at £12.50 and a total of £50 for 2 people makes this an expensive option. There are better and much cheaper alternatives nearby."

"Finally tried Sagar, the vegan and vegetarian South Indian restaurant. They have branches all over London, and I visited their Hammersmith branch, which was very cozy and had a pretty authentic vibe. I obviously needed to try their Dosas, so I went for a Masala Dosa. It was great! The Dosa was beautiful, and the potato and lentil curry inside was really flavourful. Really hits the spot, I’d highly recommend it. Also had a Jaggery Dosa for dessert which was very interesting! I’m not hugely into sweets, so you’d think a dosa filled with chunks of Jaggery would be too much, but the vegan ice cream was just perfect to cut into that sweetness and deliver a very balanced dish and experience. Overall, Sagar has a pretty solid offering of traditional South Indian food that you don’t often find in London. I would highly recommend you give it a try. I’m certainly already planning my next visit to try the rest of their menu! "What can I say, the food is cooked amazingly. Mind you Im not Indian and haven't had too many Indian foods in my life. For someone who is trying to cut down on meat I thought I'd try this place out and this place was perfect. The gobi65 to die for and pricing is value u for money. The staff is attentive and do their best to accommodate us and manage the table space. Soft spoken, but not a bad thing. There's also a place to wash your hands before eating. I got the rose milk... First time... Quite interesting. Was very full and satisfied Will come back again to try other things."

"If you want to be transported to South India with the food and ambience of a regular south Indian eatery , don't skip visiting this unique vegetarian place in East London. Obviously it's North Indian or indo-Chinese dishes may be tinged with some south Indian flare but the south Indian dishes- dosas, vadas etc are spot on. They have not tried to dilute their spice or flavour. Also the staff have the typical south Indian cheerfulness and politeness. The music is usually illaiyaraja or AR Rahman . It's usually busy , but food arrives very quickly. This place is family friendly."

"Following religious prayer on Sundays, we always head to a well-known vegetarian restaurant in Hounslow West for masala dosas. We got masala dosa after prayer today as usual, but it was very salty. When we complained to the server about the overly salty masala dosa, he did not apologise; instead, he handed us the Google review scan and instructed us to do a review. We were taken aback by his conduct, urging us to write a review despite the food being overly salty. His actions truly saddened and disappointed us. Furthermore, I informed the manager about this attitude when I paid the bill, but she didn't seem to care. Very dissatisfied with this behaviour."
