"Visited on a Wednesday evening and the service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was very pleasant in a very nice setting just off the Tyne Bridge. There is plenty of parking close by, walking distance to Gateshead Metro Station. Walking distance to other good bars such as mircrobus and central for a drink before or after. Food wise, thick curry’s packed with flavour. Food is piping hot and glass window allows a peak into kitchen to see chefs preparing food. Manager added personal touch during visit which was nice whilst taking parents out."

"This long-standing restaurant on Sydenham Road stays true to its roots and is truly a gem! I have dined here 3/4 times now with different friends and family members, and we always leave feeling satisfied. The food is consistently of a high standard, and the service, especially from Pavi, is warm and friendly. She goes above and beyond to make you feel special, and her smile is the perfect finishing touch to an already exceptional dining experience. The ambience instantly transports me back to the authentic Indian restaurants of the past: pristine white linen, rich decor, attentive professional staff, and delicious cuisine. I can't wait to come back soon! Best of luck to the entire team!"

"When I first ate at this restaurant it was really good value for money as i booked the 50% offer. However on this occasion, the menu had changed and the prices have increased. Nevertheless, the food is tasty and not oily, but a bit too spicy. I t would be good if they could give the option on whether you want the dishes mild, medium or hot. Service was really good and quick. The staff are very attentive. I will definitely go again, but only if opentable or restaurant had the 50% offer!"

"Sorry that 1 is the least number may be you should have 0 too. The food may be good cause it seemed to be smelling good. The waiter did not offer us seats although they were empty. He kept serving the whites. He is not a white anyway. He is a Pakistani and I am an Indian and trust me there are many nice Pakistanis. May be he did not like women in tshirt and jean? I have no clue but we were treated bad. Not given menu for long. After begging and getting seats he was super reluctant to even put plates on our table while everyone around us were served good including indian men! The only reason we continued to wait was the rest of the places nearby were full with long queues. I have had good...read more"

"We have dined at this restaurant twice in the past few weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed our meals on both occasions. Despite being open for only a month, the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We plan to take some pictures of the food during our next visit."

"Will start by saying how friendly the staff are here, they couldn’t do enough for our party of 8 so thank you. New owner is very welcoming too and it’s nice to see the owner liasing with customers. Food was absolutely delicious. Bhajis are something else, a must try! The chicken was melt in the mouth and the curries were very flavoursome. Chef cooked our curries to just the right spice heat as requested. We will recommend and definitely return. I would like to see some of the lighting off for a more relaxed cosy feel as it’s very bright in there, that’s my only negative and only reason for not giving 5 stars. Thanks again to all the staff"

"Went tonight with a large group. We were given a wide choice of starters and main courses, plus poppadoms and chutneys and choice of naan breads and rice. Superb food and service. Beautiful decor, atmosphere, Indian music and warmth. We paid a very reasonable group price, and drinks were not expensive either. Would highly recommend as excellent!"

"I visited Passage to India with a friend on her recommendation. I often don’t go to the strip of restaurants opposite the Playhouse as they can be busy due to pre-theatre traffic but we went a little later to avoid most of this. From the outside the restaurant looks tiny bit it is a narrow, long dining space so there is plenty of room inside. I was delighted to see that chicken balti was on the menu so I couldn’t resist ordering it as it harked back to my university days when I first discovered curry. For my starter I ordered lamb chops. My dining companion for the evening went for hariyali chicken as a starter and chicken biriyani as a main. We couldn’t resist getting poppadoms and a pickle tray too."

"My brother and his family came to visit from mid Wales, and we decided to have a family lunch at the Soho Tavern, because we had all eaten there pre-Covid. However, this was not the Soho Tavern we visited pre-Covid. There were 5 of us in the party and ordered 3 Medium Soho Grills, 1 Chicken Tikka Biryani and 1 Chicken Karai Pot, I boiled rice and 2 nan breads. The Chicken Tikka Biryani, the Chicken Karai Pot and the boiled rice arrived at the table, but no plates, after 5 minutes, the mixed grills arrived, they were not sizzling as they normally do, I asked for some plates to eat the Chicken Tikka Biryani, the Chicken Karai Pot on, again after about 5 minutes, the plates arrived and they were stone cold, I asked the waiter for some warm plates, again after about 5 minutes they arrived, by this time my food had gone cold, so I informed the waiter, who took it away. He returned with a warm plate and the food. I do not know what was done to the Biryani, but the chicken, which I had tried, whilst waiting when it 1st arrived, it had transformed from a soft succulent chicken into tough/hard chicken. I cannot confirm how it was reheated but it was not nice. This meal was not the standard that we were used to at the Soho Tavern pre Covid, this was very disappointing."

"It’s been two years since I came to London from India and this is the best Indian food I have tried so far. The taste is simply incredible. The curries are so flavoursome and fresh. The breads are light and fluffy! I have tried almost everything in the menu so far and this place never disappoints. If you are looking for an authentic Indian meal, this is the place."

"I'm currently studying for masters disertation and came in here on a quiet Tuesday morning to have breakfast and work. I'd come here before a few weeks ago when the manager was in. He was lovely and let me stay for 4+ hours even though I only ordered a coffee and I'd been raving about how lovely this place was for the past few weeks. This morning I went and arrived at 11:30 and asked to sit in and was told that I could only sit on the bar I pointed to an empty table and the waiter grudgingly allowed me to sit. I was sitting next to two other people on their laptops neither of whom had ordered food. I ordered pancakes and a coffee (asked for no banana on my pancakes) and bottle water, the coffee never came and pancakes had banana on but I left it because the staff seemed stressed. After only an hour and half I was asked to aggressively leave because the cafe has a 2 hour limit. Despite the fact that the person next to me who hadn't ordered food was not moved a long and there was no queue of people waiting. Little did the know I was about to order lunch so they missed out on my service. If you're the lovely manger reading this then I would talk to your staff about the tone they are taking with customers. I understand a 2 hour laptop rule but I was only there for an hour and a half compared to people next to me and I felt like I was picked on. because I was a younger woman working in the cefe covered to the middle aged people sitting next to me."

"A good pub is defined by its quality food and drink, but what truly makes a pub great is the sense of belonging and warmth it offers. From the moment my wife and I stepped into Woolpack Pub, we felt like family. As someone who has always lived in the area, I have a deep appreciation for local establishments. However, my wife, who comes from the north where Indian pubs are less common, was initially anxious about fitting in. Woolpack Pub dispelled all her fears by welcoming us both with open arms. What sets Woolpack Pub apart is its exceptional family-friendly and woman-friendly atmosphere. The staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel at home, fostering an environment where all can relax and enjoy. This inclusive and inviting atmosphere is as important as the delicious food and drinks they serve. Woolpack Pub has become our go-to spot, not just because of its great cuisine, but because it treats every customer like a valued member of the community. For its outstanding hospitality and warm, inclusive environment, it’s what makes them so great Additionally, I would like to give a special shout out to Alex for his hardworking service. His dedication and friendliness significantly contribute to the welcoming ambiance that makes Woolpack Pub so special."

"I was in Bath for the weekend with my family and we decided to order an Indian takeaway from Ruposhi on Saturday evening. The restaurant was only a 2-minute walk from where we were staying, so we decided to give it a try based on its reputation as the best in Bath. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations. We had to wait for 2 hours for our food, which we were picking up ourselves, not waiting for a delivery. The quality of the food did not make up for the wait - the naan bread was burnt and tasteless, and the rest of the meal was lackluster. In my opinion, Ruposhi could learn a thing or two from Indian restaurants in Birmingham."

"We had been on a day out in Liverpool and booked a table for 5:30. I’m glad that I had booked ahead because there was a steady stream of diners coming in the whole time we were there. We were greeted on arrival and shown to our table in a beautifully decorated booth. The order was taken promptly and both drinks and food arrived promptly. The popadoms and pickles we had for starters and the main courses were delicious, good job we had worked up an appetite during our trip, but we were defeated and still couldn’t finish everything. The restaurant were able to slightly change my meal so I could have a vegetable biryani without the paneer, and the tikka curry sauce I had with it was absolutely delicious."

"(Delivery) Considering the high rating on Tripadvisor and the reviews of the place we were ready to give Kali Mirchi a go. After quotes of Best Indian and So much flavour being thrown around, we were anticipating a much needed curry. After placing the order and being told it would be 40 minutes, we waited an hour before we called to be told it had just left and would be with us any minute. It came to £19.20 so I gave the driver £20 and was told he had no change! Biting my lip to the sofa we dug in to our starters. The Onion Bhajis were more gram flour than onion and for such a cheap dish to make was surprising. I could taste the old oil which isn 't always a bad thing if it wasn 't for there being too much flour to soak it up. Oily onion bhajis seen to, mains were a go. I love my naan bread and wasn 't all that impressed with the one I had infront of me, the bright red keema filling had all dropped to one side and it was very thin. The pilau rice was nice though, I think they had added a touch of saffron. The Chicken Tikka Masala was average at best and tasted alot like cheese. Not how I would expect, it was also luke warm but did have good chunks of chicken. The lamb jalfrezi was overly spiced and had more than enough green chillies but abit too much oil. Unfortunalty we didnt feel Kali Mirchi had lived up to its reputation and I am a firm believer that food should be a similar standard when delivered, if this is the standard in restaurant then I would be very disappointed to have made the journey. Summary Nothing special, average experience for a takeaway, good portions of meat, but bad balance of spice and flavour. Check your change and order well in advance!"

"The pub is very clean and organized, with a relaxed atmosphere. The beer garden out back is beautiful, especially at sunset. They are following all COVID-19 guidelines. I came with my family and it was welcoming to everyone. I enjoyed the food, especially since they offer a variety of vegetarian options. It's a local spot with great prices, delicious food, and will be my new go-to place to eat!"
