"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."

"I had a wonderful afternoon at this restaurant, which catered exceptionally well to my vegetarian dietary needs. Instead of the typical boring sandwiches, they offered a variety of delicious options. The venue itself is absolutely stunning—a true hidden gem! The decor features amazing artwork from around the world. The service was excellent, and our waiter was very attentive. I will definitely return in the future!"

"I took my mum and mother in law for high tea and we were delighted the moment we stepped in, amazing decor and absolutely stunning dining hall! Never seen anything like that before! We booked via phone and we were asked for card details first I was bit reluctant but they explained due to everything made fresh for diners we want to make sure nothing goes to waste as they do not take walk-ins, they also assured card won't be charged until dining and there is no cancellation fee if cancelled in advance, which made sense! We like afternoon tea/high tea but I can assure I have never had such an amazing tea before! Everything was so fresh, from scones to sandwiches and pastries! They also gave us surprises with hot and cold canapés which were freshly baked! Which made sense for calling it high tea! As there was so much to eat, freshly baked hot bread with butter was scrumptious! We will be back it was the best high tea we ever had!"

"Overall, my experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I had been here before and loved the food, but this time was a mixed bag. The portion sizes for the Thai curries were small for the price of £13.50, and rice was an additional cost. My prawn Thai curry only had 2 pieces of courgette and butternut squash in it. On the positive side, the service was quick and efficient, and the food was tasty. I particularly enjoyed the peppered chicken and vegetables, as well as the Prawn and Chive Dim Sum. Plus, Thursday cocktails were only £4 each, and I highly recommend the Bali Mai Tai!"

"this evening we were in the opposite for a late night film and decided to meet a nearby place for a place of dinner. troia appeared in the search with a winning combination of positive reviews and low trips and so it was. troia is located in south bank and offers casual medium seas, is a step upward from the usual chain / tourist eating. we ordered the london set meze 13 p/p), which gave us a cornea of many of their tasty. we were woven by the sheer amount of food, and almost not expected two rounds of food. eleven different dishes made for a crowded table: hummus, casseroles, cooks, dives, falafels; we certainly didn't leave a starving. service was on the side slow(s)...read more"

"There was a great delay to have the first starters, but then everything goes smoothly. The food was delicious and the quantities were good. Unfortunately, Desserts were not handmade and the tasty in this case were not as expected... we were in New Year's Eve (new year eve) and the prices were really high. For the amount and quality of meal, too much (45 pounds per person)."

"Amazing waffles (very fluffy and quite large) that they’re just sweet enough and not sickly like they sometimes can be. Great service, nice coffee and dog friendly too. Lots of ice cream flavours to choose from (they also have vegan versions), served in freshly made waffle cones. Brilliant."

"we weren't here for birthday and it was very good. the restaurant itself is quite hidden and it has a great atmosphere inside. it also has a unique atmosphere. the service was pretty at the point and the staff was friendly. the menu is long and so it was quite a struggle to decide what to get. fortunately the waitress was very helpful and at the end we decided to share bbq platter (can not remember the exact names). we were easily worried that we were not able to manage it all, but it is safe for 2 hungry adults. we also have a few milkshakes, cajun pommes and tattoos. first, the Sharing plate was really nice overall. in particular the pulled gay and the ribs were delicious. the meeting felt effortlessly from the bone and was very succulent. also the chicken wings and bark breeze were delicious. the sausages on the hand were very disappointing. very dry and not very tasteful. that was surprising as the whole other flesh was nice. the chips were simple and not my favorite. the Cajun season made her better. the guy is pretty. our milkshakes were pretty good, but nothing special. we also liked that we have a selection of sauces on the table. we felt our meal was good for what we got. overall we enjoyed our visit and satisfied the feeling."

"My first visit to LayaLina was on Valentine's Day and it was surprisingly quiet with only two other couples present during the two hours we were there. The food was excellent, although we were limited to the Valentine's set menu. The waitress did allow me to order one item from the a la carte menu, but unfortunately one of the dessert options was not available. This was disappointing considering the restaurant's quiet atmosphere and the fact that it was a set menu. The Valentine's set menu was priced at £85 per person, whereas on any other day the same choices would have cost £60 per person. I found the markup to be excessive and unnecessary."

"Popped in to try their vegan menu at an event solely for vegan food and loved every single dish. The fried jasmine rice and Katsu curry was my favourite but I scoffed everything on my plate. Will definitely be back."

"Cozy space, friendly servers and nice service, but food was terrible. My fiance and I shared a barbecue chicken pizza and a calzone — the calzone was okay but rather unremarkable (especially for the price), but the pizza was just awful: far too salty, barely any trace of proper barbecue, and without any exaggeration at all the chicken bits tasted of fish instead of actual chicken. Did not want to cause any fuss so I didn 't bother speaking to a manager after being offered the option after giving feedback — this is the first and last time I 'll be dining here."

"Had a lovely evening meal at The Boat House. Food was delicious and well presented. I did have few minor issues: Camembert sharing starter would have been nice to have a small plate each. Also could have done with a fresh napkin with each course. I had ribs so really needed one but used bathroom instead. I did get chance to ask for a fresh one when dessert arrived but wasn’t quick enough for mains. The cheesecake was delicious but the brownie had a slight burnt taste which I did tell the waitress. All in all had a lovely evening with good tasting food. Ps the coleslaw with the ribs was amazing"

"Visited with family, one of whom suffers from severe egg allergy. On asking the staff if they could check if the ice cream contained any egg products I was told that they were not sure. I asked if they could check the restaurants allergy data...sheet as most places have the information to hand, as it is now a legal requirement to provide this information. As of December the Consumers reg came into force which requires food establishments to provide information on known allergens of which egg is one. The staff were able to finally obtain a manager who came and assured us that no egg was present in the ice cream, this would have been fine, however, he had not taken into consideration the ice cream flavourings or cakes and biscuits mixed through the ice cream. When I informed manager that the restaurant had a legal requirement to provide the allergy information he was totally unaware of this and argued against such an idea. I can slightly accept that a small independent store may not be aware of regulations, however this store is attached to a large Indian restaurant which should be fully aware of their responsibilities. It is vitally important that all food providers take their responsibilities seriously as it can be a matter of life and death for food allergy suffers being provided with incorrect or out of date information. The staff had no knowledge of food allergies so have obviously been poorly trained by the management. In summary if you have any food allergies I would avoid this place as they do not consider your health a priority and can provide no trustworthy information regarding what allergens are in their food."

"Another wee gem hidden away in Falkirk. Went with my children, they had vanilla and chocolate. Hearty portions! I had Ferrero Rocher and it was fab and coffee was amazing. No real drinks for smaller children, so owner gave us two free glasses of milk. Be back as more flavours to try. Also sell posh cakes and sandwiches."

"Terrible experience. Do not go here under any circumstances! The menu was different than advertised, with limited options and higher prices. Our table for 5 was not ready and we had to sit in uncomfortable chairs downstairs. The staff was unhelpful and we had to ask multiple times for napkins, only to be told they were out. The food was cold and the mango juice we ordered didn't come until the end of the meal, diluted with water. The curries all tasted the same and frozen vegetables were used instead of fresh. The wine we ordered was not the one served. Overall, a disappointing and unsatisfactory experience."
