"Had an early dinner at Zorba last Friday, this was my second visit and we were extremely happy with our experience. We were feeling hungry, opted for the chicken platter and mixed meze, the food was excellent and the portions were such that we still had a good doggybag to take away. The staff were very welcoming and our server Fred was extremely helpful and made our meal feel special."

"We have ordered from The Best Mangal several times as a take away, and I must say the food is delicious (even if a little over priced). However, I am unfortunately one of the many neighbours of the establishment, for which they hold no care for. They have an area out the back which they frequently hold loud parties in until 1am on weekdays and the weekends are even worse. I have no issue in these parties, but this back room has only a piece of material (which stays open in summer is even louder) as the ceiling, they instead could have the loud music in the other part of the restaurant! Meaning our whole building is kept up with loud music drunken screaming until it ends. Despite calling asking for the music to be turned down on several occasions after my young son has woken up for the 3rd time in a night, nothing changes! I’ve even had an extra layer of glass put into my window to try and block it out, unfortunately I can still hear it! And don’t even get me started on the parties that happened during lockdown, when we were all stuck inside and had to listen to it all! A total lack of respect for your neighbourhood, you’ve definitely lost some local customers, myself included."

"I really enjoyed the time there until we were asked to move due to 2 members not bothering to show up and the table was given to other guests, which I didn't mind. It was cold near the door and every time it opened you could feel it. Our main waiter was really nice and took the time to provide us with what we needed but the one who moved us was slightly distant and brought me a drink with no ice and was quite slow in coming back to us. Overall I'm glad I went and I will definitely go again."

"It was my girlfriends birthday and we surprised her with a meal at this restaurant. they instruct you to book a table on their website to which we did. we received the confirmation email to confirm our booking at 8:00PM on the 20th August. After arriving with her and her family, the place was closed. With it being a Sunday evening, finding another restaurant was impossible as everything else was no longer taking any bookings or they had closed the kitchen. Extremely disappointed in this as we received no word or update on their opening hours and they simply wasted our time and ruined my girlfriends birthday. Would not recommend"

"yesterday and today we made a late lunch and it was delicious. beautiful, great atmosphere, good music, great service. we at the chicken brewery, lammgerin, and also had the swarma packaging with fries. the Mayo sauce that comes with the frits was phenomenal. "Chef Ali opened the original Mangal around 25 years ago and this branch around 20 years ago. He is something of an authority in Ocakbasi in the local area and the results are delicious. There’s a large selection of grilled meat dishes and plenty to keep vegetarians occupied too. As a reference for myself in comparing Ocakbasi restaurants I always like to compare the Cop Sis (small lamb cubes). These were succulent and tender, served up with a generous plate of salad and Turkish bread on the side. The simple sounding Grilled Aubergine was equally delicious served with a tasty sauce and portion of bulgur wheat. It’s no wonder famous artist duo Gilbert and George have been regulars here since it opened. Miso paparazzo!"

"We ate here before an evening show on Tuesday 20th November. The selection of dips starter was delicious with ample portions of all three dips and the freshest pitta bread I have ever tasted. Mum and I both opted for the lamb which simply melted in the mouth. This was accompanied by delicious green beans in garlic and a fresh tasting lentil and rice dish with caramelised onions. We felt pleasantly satisfied as the portions are not too big and unusually for us, we went on to order dessert. We shared the coffee chocolate and cardamom torte which was wonderful to nibble with a hot drink. The service was efficient and courteous. We appreciated the offer of a jug of fresh water as soon as we sat down and the waiter was clearly knowledgeable about which dishes to recommend. The ambiance is very pleasant sitting surrounded by the library books, and an interesting view over the concourse area where people are milling around. Storyhouse and the Kitchen are superb. Cannot recommend highly enough!"

"We hadn't been to the Armenian Taverna for a few years. There is now some unattractive building work at the street level but once you go down to the restaurant it is as welcoming and atmospheric as we remember. I made particularly good choices of food this time. My borsch was a good warming starter for a cold Saturday evening and the Armenian goulash was excellent more reminiscent of a Lancashire hotpot than a Hungarian goulash but with rice! I really enjoyed my meal. My wife's meal was unremarkable and she was somewhat disappointed. Our meals were quite expensive, coming to £70.50 for two starters, two main courses, two beers and a bottle of sparking water."

"I visited this establishment on Saturday for my husbands birthday. I was very underwelmed by the customer service i recieved. When we arrived a small group of 6 people also arrived approx 5 mins after). We placed our order and proceeded to wait, the small group placed there order 5 minutes after us. It was a very long wait or the drinks we ordered but we waited patiently. We waited 40 minutes for our food while the larger group recieved their food quite quickly after they ordered and before us I may add). When I questioned the length of time we were waiting, I was taken aback by the response that ' it was no ones fault ' and that they didnt inform us of the delay because ' we didnt ask '. I can honestly say that the food is lovely but the whole establishment is let down by the lack of customer service and the atomosphere as staff were walking around eating and drinking without checking in on guests. My annoyance was more the length of waiting and the customer service as they were not welcoming at all and this was on a SATURDAY NIGHT! Will not be returning even though they are so close to home and the food was pretty decent."

"The atmosphere was welcoming and the place cosy. Restaurant is off the main street in a calm corner. We received complimentary bread, hummus, tea and baklava which was a pleasant surprise : The price was reasonable given the generous portions. Bread was fresh and had a wonderful buttery smell, ditto for the rice. Dolma was packed with flavour and the lamb was nice and tender! Will be visiting again when I can!"
