"Upon arriving at Issho, we were greeted swiftly by a friendly member of staff and led to our table outside on the terrace overlooking the centre of Leeds (it was heated). No sooner had we sat down, were we provided with the wine list and food menu to which we selected our Sauvignon blanc from New Zealand to accompany our sushi rolls, spicy pork bao bun, and king scallops. The food arrived quickly, its presentation was immaculate and above all it was flavoursome with richness and depth. It is some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. It was so good we ordered the same two dishes again (crab roll and bao bun) I will be returning without hesitation."

"We were searching for something new to try and decided to check out Grafe, a restaurant that had been open for some time but we had never been to before. The food and service were good, but there was something missing that prevented it from standing out. Perhaps it was our fault for choosing an average bottle of wine, despite its £55 price. Overall, I'm not convinced that the atmosphere and food combined for an outstanding dining experience."

"I booked a meal at Shepherds Restaurant because it was convenient for an event we attended before having lunch because we were attracted by the offer of 25% discount on the whole bill. On balance the food was expensive for what it was. Shepherds pie for instance was priced at £19 or £19.50 came literally as just a small bowl of shepherds pie with no other accompaniment other than a small bottle of Worcester sauce. I found that bemusing because the shepherds pie should surely be tasty moist enough to not require additional Worcester sauce. The shepherds pie did not look very moist a small jug of gravy would have made a good accompaniment the dish. We all had potted shrimps to start but these did not arrive potted but had been turned out on to a slice of toasted brioche. The shrimps were not especially tasty or inspiring. I thought the brioche was too sweet did not pair well with the shrimps. The bread on the table was very tasty would have been better with the shrimps. One of our group ordered the Barnsley lamb chop which arrived with a sprig of rosemary on top but was otherwise totally unaccompanied by sauce, gravy or anything else. The service was a little rushed my friend’s empty wine glass was taken straight from her hand as soon as she had finished drinking without any enquiry as to whether any more wine was wanted. When paying their bill the table next to us who had the same 25% discount offer found their bill was for the full price although it was amended when challenged. The same thing happened to my table being charged the full amount made a difference of £70 ! We challenged the bill it was duly amended, but my dining friends I were not impressed by this. We got the impression that they were trying it on if you were not quick enough to spot that you had not received the discount, you could easily pay the full price. Overall it was a disappointing experience I would not return or recommend Shepherds."

"ANNEX Lunch for 6 persons. I wanted to change it to 8, said it wasn't a problem. They called again to change it to 10 people, and they confirmed it was good. The table was set up for 6 people. 3. Includes service fee on the invoice, although you order at the bar and the food is average and too expensive. We said we would rather pay a tip in cash so that our payment of the service was not included. The service was anyway accused by someone who could hardly put together a sentence. When asking for a refund, it took a long and rude conversation, ended in money on the bar and the bar person stormed off. As you can imagine, the money we left on the table went back to our pockets."

"I absolutely loved this place! It has a warm atmosphere and beautiful cherry blossom tree on the way in. We had some cocktails with friends over there and we really liked the drinks. Bao buns and bar bites were delicious as well! The building is very cool, it is a perfect spot for a date night! The team was good and very attentive. I am looking forward to coming back soon."

"The only problem of this pub is one of the doorkeepers who works there. He is a very aggressive man, for me to step on an area where there was a broken glass that grabbed my arm, pulled me out, pushed me to scream that he wanted to throw me out. There's a very good atmosphere in that pub and that power abuser disturbs everything. the fabric of mule music."

"the staff was extremely rude, we did not want to pay for the full service fee because I found a hair in my desert and the service was slow and my early roles were cold! the waitress complained about us to her colleagues and my daughter and I overheard her, it was at this point we complained that I think if they were great service and eating was great paying the full service, but if something was then not we decided to pay only half the service. I then went to complain to the manager and said I am not obliged to pay for the service, it is up to me when I pay and how much I pay, I should not be done to feel bad about it. I complained about the haare in my food and her attitude and then went out. never go there again, it's a shame that we celebrated my man birthday and sucked her attitude!"

"The food was delicious I ordered brunch which came with starter main and dessert, for starter I ordered the fruit salad but did not receive it until after the main whilst others in my party ordered the pastries and got them straight away , service was quite slow and we were in a hurry as had booked tickets for a show but the food was really nice we sat outside on the terrace it was lovely apart from the road noise and people smoking around us"

"This is my first visit to this restaurant. The menu is very small. Some of the staff is knowledgeable and efficient but some are not! We got one wrong dish and had another dish thrown away after being taken away to put into a smaller plate. However we did get a complimentary new one. Decorations is not very classy, especially given its location. The table setting needs more thought as there was hardly room for the individual hot pots and the dishes. The hot pots get in the way a bit and I had to stand up a few times to reach the dishes. The seafood is fresh and of good quality but the stock base for the hot pot was bland. The meal was very expensive for what it was and condiments were all at extra cost. Not sure if I’ll be going there again."

"Been to this restaurant several times over the past 8 years as it’s always been really good, but this time wasn’t as good as other times unfortunately. Waited for about 45 mins to receive cocktails that was ordered on arrival and didn’t receive until practically finished our meal, all plates were taken so weren’t any plates to share food onto whether they expected us to eat individually from each serving bowl I don’t know , but was not anticipated. I received a birthday dessert unexpectedly which was fab. The only thing was It wasn’t anything I like (cheesecake) which I’m not fond of at all and then I saw it on my bill, for me that’s a bit rude as it’s not something I ordered so it was a slick move from the restaurant, being from hospitality background over years that’s not something I think is thought out and can actually end up annoying the customer which it did after receiving an overall slightly sloppy service. Food was good as always and ambience of restaurant but that is all I can say Thank you"

"I took my mother to the Two Sisters restaurant for her birthday last Sunday. We were immediately greeted and informed about the brunch options (i.e. buffet versus brunch specials and other adjustments, such as turkey bacon instead of pork). I think this is a great place for a relaxed brunch and definitely for a mother-daughter date. We loved the food and the service. We drove to a Groupon and will definitely drive again without the Groupon. Worth it."

"My review is more about the restaurant upstairs rather than the bar. Booked at the Olive Grove to go with my dad (Wednesday), thinking it could be fun to try some cocktails and nibbles but when I walked in downstairs, all I saw was a sad empty basement. A poor attempt to recreate a Mediterranean patio on a basement without windows, I don't think the olive tree in the middle is enough. I can imagine this being a fun place on the weekend maybe, with a large group filling in the space but still... it's just a small basement with terrible lighting. Quite depressing if you're on a date. Luckily they had tables at the restaurant and we had an unexpected, delicious, tasty dinner. I cannot fault the food. Giving it a whole new meaning to Italian food. Interesting flavour/ingredients combinations. It was a shame the sommelier brought us a carafe to the table without showing us the bottle first. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant looks ideal for business lunches I would say."

"I'm glad I stumbled upon this wine bar to review. It is located in the renowned Selfridges on the Lower Ground floor, right next to the wine section. After a long day of shopping, you can relax with a glass or bottle of wine here before heading to the wine aisle to make a purchase. The wine list is impressive, though slightly on the pricier side. However, the quality of the wines justifies the cost. The food at this establishment is decent, serving tapas-style small plates to complement the wine selection. The focus here is definitely on the wine, with a very laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. If you're a wine lover, this is the place to be."

"Been trying to get a booking here since our reservation in December was cancelled due to COVID and quite frankly we were utterly disappointed. Front of house werent very friendly. The ambience was nice very chic and lively however music volume was so loud so quite hard to hold a conversation. The waiter we had was outrageously rude. He put his hand up to me to slow down my ordering which I was going at at the pace of a snail anyway! It took 10minutes to order because apparently the system was slow and I had to repeat myself several times. We couldn't decide on garlic sauce or peppercorn and we were told abruptly and rudely which one is it guys . He also was speaking to the table behind us while taking our order and didn't apologise. He just overall had a slight attitude. Starter turned up before our drinks! Calamari batter was underseasoned but sauces and squid itself were nice. Steaks turned up and mine looked anaemic (no griddle lines looked almost poached) but somehow it was overcooked as I asked for medium rare but a medium steak turned up. My partner asked for medium well and his was pink! Again steaks were underseasoned. My chips were warmish but not piping hot. Steak knives were only brought over once the steaks were already present on the table. The loo had no loo roll I went in to 3 cubicles and absolutely nothing. Our reservation was for 2 hrs and we were out of there in an hour. Honestly I can't articulate how disappointed we were with the meal. The bill came to almost 200£ and I could get better service and delicious food at a high street restaurant for a 1/4 of the price. Clearly a place that focuses on ambience as opposed to quality of food. May give the Strand outlet one last chance but I will be sticking with Gaucho or Hawksmoor in the future."

"We were told on arrival that there would be a £50 minimum spend per person. This had not been communicated prior to booking and was utterly excessive considering the fact that we were only going to be there for an hour. We were then told that they would waive the min. spend but on paying the drinks bill, there was a separate total for VAT. Clearly, this is unheard of in the UK as the price listed in the menu is always inclusive of VAT. We then pointed out that the bar’s own menu states ‘prices inclusive of VAT’ at which point even the bar staff themselves could not dispute that we were being ripped off, stating simply “everyone else just pays it”. The venue is also in dire need of cleaning and refurbishment. The cushioned seating area is filthy and covered in ash and cigarette burns. Anyone wearing white clothing risks walking out of the venue with their outfit horribly scuffed and stained. I very rarely write reviews but this is truly a terrible bar and people ought to be warned against going."
