"I visited Umami with my partner and daugher in june 2024. The atmosphere was terrible and uncomfortable. The management treatment of staff was appalling, we observed verbal abuse towards waiters, who appeared terrified. Our table was surrounded by 2 waiters for the entire evening, making us feel uncomfortable. The food was was bland, with one dish, the paneer overly sweet, we couldn't eat it. I'm an Indian women and know how indian food should taste like. What they served at Umami was tastless and not quality food. Don't bother asking for a cocktail, because they don't know how to make them. My daughter had previously eaten there and had a the same experience, but we thought that might have been a one off incident, clearly not. I will never eat there again and will tell everyone to avoid going there, because how there treat they staff, like dirt and the standard of the food was not that great. Over priced for poir food. I'll say away and go somewhere else.x I"

"The wait between the starter and main course was frustratingly long, taking about an hour. Some members of our party had to leave early for our next reservation to avoid losing our table. The automatic service charge felt excessive at £40! When it was time to leave, I didn't have the opportunity to contest the fee or negotiate a lower amount, so I reluctantly paid it, but I regret doing so. The starters were enjoyable, but the main course was somewhat disappointing. Overall, we spent £45 each for a cocktail, a starter, and a main dish."

"This place is clean and convenient for people who work locally. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful (Vicky especially) but there is no proper organisation of roles so people queue for ages and then telephone orders take priority. The person taking orders on...the til stops to answer the phone so it's better to stand nearby and phone than wait in line. The plates for lunch are prepared in advance with nachos and dip but then the nachos are soft and inedible. Crumpets are grilled on the sandwich grill so flat and hard. Toast is usually black, bread often stale and butter (with crumbs in) on the OUTSIDE of the bag. I waited for my toast for so long I had finished my coffee before it came out. Hot pitta' is now only half a pitta so I have stopped getting it. Could easily be much better with a bit of planning. No customer satisfaction considered."
