"Started with a warm welcome on arrival. As we were early we decided to have a quiet drink outside before taking our table. We were instantly issued with a menu and within 5 minutes asked if we were ready to order? Clearly a lack on communication from staff! We were shown to our table by a waitress who was not very engaging. She took our drinks order and left. She returned a few minutes later to take our food order. I wanted steak and pepper sauce, only to be told they didn’t have an peppercorn sauce? This is at the early sitting so was very surprised. I asked could the chef not make this as it isn’t that difficult but told that was the case and I had to order something different! Her table service didn’t improve from there. She brought a bottle of water and poured 2 glasses spilling most on it on the table, banged the bottle on the table and walked away. The starters were nice, but the mains were not very well cooked and it was very disappointing. We didn’t even get asked if everything was OK whilst we were eating It was only when another waitress cleared the table we were asked if everything was OK which I replied that it was just OK. She sensed from my tone that it wasn’t, and mentioned this to the first waitress. When we were presented with the bill we were told they had knocked the drinks off without any explanation? When I presented her with cash she told us she couldn’t give any change! So the bill was paid in full without any service charge (which was on the bill! Clearly not the experience we were hoping for but will not be visiting another one of this chain again!,"

"The kitchen at this restaurant serves subpar food and relies on its young staff to explain the disappointing dishes. For example, the pea puree on the Monkfish Scampi was identical to mushy peas on the Haddock Chips, and fries were served instead of chips with the steak because the kitchen had run out of chips. The menu advertised hand-cut chips, but it seems they ran out of potatoes as well. The "Artisan cheese and Arran crackers" turned out to be generic cheese and Jacobs crackers with no chutney. The chocolate fondant was not oozing as expected and came with cherries instead of peanut brittle. The ice cream was vanilla instead of the advertised peanut butter. This may be acceptable for large groups of golfers on a set menu, but for a couple staying for two nights looking to enjoy the hotel and area, it was disappointing. On the first night, we had to settle for our fourth choice of white wine as they didn't have our first three choices. It was strange to not have a wine list and to be missing 25% of the wines. The sourdough bread on the menu with Cullen Skink turned out to be a mini Hovis loaf, which felt like an insult from the kitchen and management. These issues were brought to the attention of the Operations Manager upon departure, as it was not the fault of the young serving staff. Our experience has left us feeling that the brand image has been tarnished, and we will not be returning to another MacDonalds restaurant."
