"The kitchen at this restaurant serves subpar food and relies on its young staff to explain the disappointing dishes. For example, the pea puree on the Monkfish Scampi was identical to mushy peas on the Haddock Chips, and fries were served instead of chips with the steak because the kitchen had run out of chips. The menu advertised hand-cut chips, but it seems they ran out of potatoes as well. The "Artisan cheese and Arran crackers" turned out to be generic cheese and Jacobs crackers with no chutney. The chocolate fondant was not oozing as expected and came with cherries instead of peanut brittle. The ice cream was vanilla instead of the advertised peanut butter. This may be acceptable for large groups of golfers on a set menu, but for a couple staying for two nights looking to enjoy the hotel and area, it was disappointing. On the first night, we had to settle for our fourth choice of white wine as they didn't have our first three choices. It was strange to not have a wine list and to be missing 25% of the wines. The sourdough bread on the menu with Cullen Skink turned out to be a mini Hovis loaf, which felt like an insult from the kitchen and management. These issues were brought to the attention of the Operations Manager upon departure, as it was not the fault of the young serving staff. Our experience has left us feeling that the brand image has been tarnished, and we will not be returning to another MacDonalds restaurant."

We were staying at the hotel just a couple of days before Christmas, the place was really quiet. Most of the staff appeared to be new but when able to converse were very friendly and trying to do an excellent job. The food quality was excellent.

We sat at 8 a.m., no one came to take a drink order by 8:30 p.m. Our starters arrived at 9am and were not as described in the menu. At 10 a.m. there was no sign of our nets so we left. The restaurant was empty, so no excuse. What dinner was all about the standard food for the price and extremely slow service. No staff available to take complaints. How comfortable. This must be the worst experience I had in a restaurant.

The service at this restaurant was absolutely dreadful, the worst I have ever encountered. There was no menu provided to let us know what we were being served. It took a long time to even get a drink. When the food was finally brought to our table, we had to figure out on our own what each dish was. There was no milk provided with my tea, and I had to request a spoon. Overall, it was not worth it at all. I will not be returning to this restaurant. View menu

We sat down at 8pm nobody came until 8.30pm to take a drinks order. Our starters arrived at 9pm and wasn't as described on the menu. By 10pm there was still no sign of our mains so we left. The restaurant was empty to, so no excuse. What dinners there were all complaining about the substandard food for the price and extremely slow service. No manger available to take complaints. How convenient. This has to be the worst experience I've had in a restaurant.

Was pleasantly surprised, after reading the reviews I wasn’t expecting it to be a good experience, but it was. The food came in good time, was very hot, fresh and tasted lovely. Cocktails were really good too, the dessert (sticky toffee pudding served with banana, vanilla ice cream and a sticky sauce) was amazing. Staff were very polite and professional, not sure what all the bad reviews are about, unless we were just very lucky. Only down side was the restaurant itself, could have done with being livened up a bit. On the whole really impressed.

During my visit to the restaurant, I mentioned that I have a nut allergy when asked about any allergies in our group. However, I was still served an afternoon tea with pistachios. The waitress tried to imply that I had not mentioned my allergy, but I eventually received a nut-free alternative. Additionally, when we requested soya milk, we were given cow's milk instead. No one checked in on our group to ensure everything was okay as we ate. Overall, this experience was disappointing and not worth the £30 per person price. It's a shame, as we had high hopes for this place. View menu

Staff were rude and standing around looking clueless. Food can only be described as inedible!! Sent back the steak pie that looked 2 weeks old, and the garlic roasted veg consisted of 4 pieces of turnip that were black on the outside and raw in the middle. This was a Christmas present for my partner and we ended up eating over an hour apart because they couldn’t get the food out together. No apologies made when we complained, and we weren’t the only ones. There was obviously a major problem in the kitchen because so many people were unhappy. My advice would be to close this restaurant and bring in experienced staff that can cook and serve. No chef would cook this badly or let that food leave...

The staff at this restaurant were impolite and seemed to just stand around. The food was simply inedible!! The steak was overcooked and looked like it had been sitting for two weeks, while the garlic roasted vegetables only consisted of four pieces of burnt beet, which were undercooked in the middle. This was meant to be a special Christmas meal for my partner, but we ended up eating separately because our food was not ready on time. When we complained, we were met with no apologies and it seemed we were not the only ones displeased with our meals. It was clear that there were major issues in the kitchen causing many unhappy customers. My suggestion would be to shut down this restaurant and...
