"Wonderful place to catch up with friends or family, eating excellent food with a variety of choices for all, and great service. Thoroughly recommend here. We had fish in all of our courses and the creme brulle. Finished off with Rose prosecco! Lots of meat and vegetarian options are available."

"I thought the service was first class and you were made to feel comfortable from the moment you sat down. The food was delicious and perfectly presented. Value is good considering the ambiance and restaurant. I would recommend it and I will definitely be going again. Also just a heads up if you decide to go on a Friday make sure it’s with a group of friends or like a bit of loud music. Singer was great but not if you want a quiet one."

"just after the reopening it was not sure how it would be. you go in, get your temperature scanned and you sit when you come by (I don't know what happens when your attempt looks suspicious). we sit on them between tables with people who are not really looking for a safe distance. we wanted to try the scrambled eggs and cornish crab however due to the reduction of the available items, this was not on the menu, but if we asked for it, our waiter went into the kitchen and got them to make it. they would highly recommend for their quality of food and first class service!"

"When I moved two years ago around Smithfield market I didn't know I chose the best area for a Southwestern French girl to live. The surrounding area of Smithfield market is like being in my hometown Toulouse with Club gascon, Cellar Gascon and Comptoir Gascon around. Lucky me I have my three local pubs to remind me I am living in UK Sometimes a nice restaurant is the simplest one. Compare to its sister restaurant Club Gascon, Comptoir Gascon offers simpler and traditional dishes from the Southwest of France. Last time I went for dinner I shared a platter of piggy treats with my friend, I just find a bit weird they didn't include any bread with this dish. If you want some bread you...read more"

"I have often been discussing myself with my man at carluccios a few years ago and was thrilled to go back as a widow with a friend. we had booked but when entering the restaurant and not welcome. a girl came forward and dared her hand and said it was everywhere you want. we have and waited, at last I stood up and asked for the girl for a menu. then waited for one of the girls to finish their chatter and make an order. the goat cheese salad I had ordered was cold boiled goat cheese! not very edible on a huge boiled cold barley. I must admit that the waitress has quickly agreed to change it for something else. I've been getting cold while she was waiting for me to join her. a large plate of parmisan crumbling hem came with the miniscule salat and 4 unhappy tasteless tomato. carluccios was our 'go to' restuarant but this experience has sadly crossed them from our lists. that's why I'm not wondering."

"After dining at this restaurant multiple times, I made a reservation for dinner with three friends and was extremely let down by the decline in quality. The cocktails lacked flavor, the wine was tasteless, and all the food was overly salty. The lemon sole was overcooked, the butter sauce tasted burnt instead of nutty. The aubergine main dish was small and lacked flavor, more suitable as a starter. The halloumi main was bland and the sole goujons were lukewarm at best. The dessert, rhubarb frangipane, tasted like a subpar Bakewell tart with minimal rhubarb, and the Balthazar coupe was overly sweet. At a price of £270, this meal was far too expensive for the subpar quality. I am unsure if there has been a change in management at this restaurant, but I was truly disappointed and embarrassed to have recommended it to my friends. I will not be returning or suggesting this restaurant to others in the future."

"Splendid food and lovely attentive service beautiful fish cookery and excellent wine. Can't imagine how it could have been improved upon.Social isolation measures were all in place, but unobtrusively so, so at no time did we feel there were any special circumstances"

"I recently ate at the Horsham branch with my teenage son. We had a starter each. We had a main course. A older blonde lady took our order. Our starters came after quite a wait. When she took our plates the waitress said “you must have been starving you ate them so quickly” we had eaten them at a normal speed! Two small starters do not take too long to eat! After waiting for 20minutes I called over another waiter, he assumed I was asking for the bill, as we had been there so long. I said that, no, we were still waiting for our mains. The restaurant was not busy. He sent over the original waitress who took our order and she stated that because we were so starving and ate our starters so fast, our mains are on a timer and we’d have to wait! We waited 40 minutes from our starter until our main course. There was no apology for the wait. She just said that it was our fault for eating our starter so fast! I found this very odd and have never been given this explanation before. We will not be returning as I found her very rude."

"I think this restaurant is stuck in a bit of a time warp. The food and drinks list is limited, no non alcoholic drinks to speak of or non dairy alternatives. But it has a charm all of its own in a gorgeous setting. My husbands beef was very tough but my tuna niscoise was very good."

"It is always great to find a place with a separate vegan menu. The restaurant is very nice and the staff friendly. The food is good. It would be nice if there was a tofu option on dishes and not just vegetables. They happily adjusted dishes to suit personal preferences."

"The staff were all lovely at No. 15 however the bar need to keep on top of the wine menu. We ordered an expensive bottle (it was a celebration! and they didn't have it in stock, but it took them a while to figure that out. A more expensive bottle was substituted at the same price, which was a lovely gesture, however the staff need more training in how to serve expensive wine (temperature and tasting etc . The menu was super interesting and seasonal and the food tasted lovely. There was a lot of kale based veggies given the season though! The dining room is the basement, but accessible via lift and is light, but cosy."

"Despite advanced announcement, gluten-free products were very close. Very French, duck and foie gras predominant. Gluten-free bread came very late from the freezer and some of the poorest quality I had in a London restaurant for a long time. Steak was beautiful, sorbets at sour and price very high."

"We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea; while the sandwiches lacked flavor, the biscuits and cakes were outstanding. The host was very flexible and accommodating when we needed to change our reservation time at the last minute."

"I have visited this restaurant before and was unimpressed with he quality of the food. I year later, I decided to give it another chance. Very little has changed. My Pad Thai was gloopy, tasted like it had been reheated and not built up from fresh ingredients. Bland flavour and tasteless. All srvered up like warm on cold plates. I also ordered a roti, which was greasy, part cook, and equally undesirable. The chef needs changing as a matter or urgency before things will improve. You need a competent chef with cabaility and passion for his cooking. The restaurant was relatively empty, just a few tables being occupied, probably say's it all. Not all GS are the same. The one in Beaconsfield is outstanding. Please drive the extra distance you will be amazed."

"We finally made it to Giggling Squid for a family meal. We asked for the separate veggie/vegan menu, and the vegan dishes are labelled, and there're lots of them! We had the vegetarian sharing platter to start-I was particularly impressed with the corn fritters and oyster mushroom tempura, but it was all lovely. For my main, I had the exotic mushroom Gra Pao, with brown rice (you select your rice or noodles separately). It was nice, but I didn't really notice any mushrooms in it! I also had a little try of the Massaman curry, which again was delicious. They advised to order a portion of rice per person, but we felt that half each, or around 3 between the 5 of us might have suffice-it depends how much you each/how many courses, etc! Sadly, there are currently no vegan desserts, but we were full from our starter and mains. The prices are slightly higher than other similar places, but the food was lovely, and the service we received was great, with helpful staff."

"My first time at this restaurant. Started off well, staff very attentive, in fact we needed more time to peruse the menu! Ordered food and the starters were very quick to come plus they were delicious. The mains took a little longer and I noticed the service rapidly started to decline at this point. The mains arrived, the crying beef was very fatty, thank goodness we’d decided to share mains as well. We waited for about 15 mins after finishing our main course before I had to wave someone over for the bill. The plates hadn’t been cleared, no one asked if we wanted coffee or dessert, didn’t ask if we enjoyed our dinner. One staff member who I think was the manager was too busy setting up a large table which had been vacated. It was a Friday night but service needs to be better right to the end of a sitting. One waiter didn’t even look happy to be there! Also if you’re looking for a quiet place to eat, this isn’t it. Food good though, apart from the beef."

"12-Feb giggling squid sevenoaks. visited for Saturday dinner (we booked) and the restaurant was full. they make a series of set-peter tapas benton typo dinge that are a great option to get a lot of directed. I had the two giggling squids that has massive chicken curry, rice, wing and salt n pfeffer tintenfisch. the dishes all have a good taste without being too spicy. not much huh in the curry, but at £12,95 for the whole it is quite good worth and eat a lot. service was slick. I'd come back happy."
