Fresh oysters served on ice with a side of tangy mignonette sauce and lemon wedges for an exquisite taste experience.

"We set the Maitre D a deadline as the six of us were going to a local show, and between them the chef and waiting staff managed to provide an excellent meal at a pace that allowed us to fully appreciate it, yet got us to the church on time. (Yes, the concert was in the parish church."

"We were really looking forward to our meal at The Beach restaurant, our first night in St Ives.It did not disappoint. Brilliant location and a lovely welcome. It’s a very popular restaurant and was fully booked for the night we were there. Definitely advisable to book as our waiting table was the only one spare at 8pm.What a great idea to have a lovely choice of fish where the price includes a side and a sauce or crust. You can totally tailor your dish to your liking and I immensely enjoyed my lemon sole with mash and a garlic butter. Not massive portions, but really refined and elegant. The service was good and wine by the glass (Riesling) was excellent. We enjoyed our meal here and would definitely return."

"Booked a table on Saturday for a simple dinner for 2 before a birthday party. On arrival to the almost empty restaurant, I was promptly given a table by a fire exit, (which I asked to change to a table away from the door and in a more pleasant part of the restaurant). The chair at the first table had also seen better days and sank down as soon as I tried to sit in it, which was another reason I asked to move. On being seated at my new table I was given 1 menu, even though I had booked a table for two. The waiter seemed disinterested frankly. When my partner arrived she was left to sit at the table for quite a while without a menu until we requested one. We ordered our meals and drinks, then had to ask again for bread, instead of it being brought to us. The first course of fried calamari was tasteless and bland, with more breading than squid and at £15 a portion it was not good value at all. When asked if I enjoyed my starter, I told the waiter that I didn’t like it as it was very dry. My £16 spaghetti crab was smothered in tomato sauce and it could have been any kind of protein in there, tuna, sardine, it’s impossible to tell. My partners seafood orecchiette was adequate, but was still £18 Desert was a dark pannocotta which was ok. £8, we asked to share one and two were brought to us, so 1 was sent back. The bill came to £115 (including an obligatory 12.5% service charge), and with a top table discount on the starters and mains knocking £30 off that total to make it £85, I really don’t feel this place is either good value for money or worth visiting again. The food was bland and indifferent, much like the waiting staff and the decor. I feel this is a tired West End restaurant, knocking out overpriced and sub standard food to people on business or shopping. If you are going to spend £100 you should expect a great meal and considerate service. This was very far from that."

"Myself and my husband ate here to kick off our honeymoon. The food in Sakanas was absolutely incredible! We had the beef teriyaki and Korean steak gambi with jasmine rice, and both were gorgeous. Steak was melt in the mouth, incredible flavour and filling. Not the cheapest but well worth what you pay. Nice atmosphere, could have done with some air con as it was very hot in there! The only criticism we had was that the guy serving our table had zero customer service skills. We didn’t get a name but he was the tall server with his hair up in a top knot. No check back to see how our food was, zero conversation, came across as pretty rude and didn’t bother asking if we’d enjoyed the food. It was a shame as some of the other servers were really friendly but we didn’t tip because of his service. Otherwise, lovely meal out! Would definitely recommend for the food itself."

"Given its position on a main road, we were surprised and pleased by the relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the pleasant environment. The food is just what they say it is a fish based menu with a Thai accent in the recipes. We enjoyed all the food which was first class, and the waiting staff were very helpful and explained items on the menu when asked."

"food and service was good. my only quibble was at the online booking. I had an email confirming my table reservation, but when I arrived in the cape bar horn, there was no note of it. fortunately there was a free table so we could feed there. it was a embarrassing situation because I was there with friends and was responsible for the booking. I sent the hotel by email the next day, but I had no answer from them. my advice would be if you would like to book a table here, then don't use the online booking device! I'd go back, but I'd call next time."

"I had lunch here, which comes with a bonus discount! It's an informal place with friendly staff and quick service. The menu had a good variety of Thai and seafood, we had a red curry and fish special which were both pleasant and adequate portions. I felt the restaurant fell between Street food and the more elaborate eateries and as such slightly overpriced."

"would not recommend at all. eating was just terrible if we didn't even finish half of it. it was only a microwave of low quality. the music was too loud and they even turned it up, even though we were the only guests who were inside and could not have a conversation without shouting at each other. they also left the door open and we sat there in our mouths. not worth the visit."

"The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere, enhanced by excellent live music. The buffet is abundant, and the free-flowing Prosecco is a delightful touch. The service is attentive, making it a wonderful place to indulge in a joyful dining experience!"

"Best food I've ever had in this part of the county (at reasonable prices). My friend and I had a sharing platter and every single item was delicious. The desserts were fab too, and well priced. The chef clearly knows her/his stuff. Great service. Lovely garden. After lunch one day, I recommended it to my parents for their wedding anniversary the following evening, and they had an equally lovely experience. I look forward to going back sometime to try out the gin and cocktail menus! I highly recommend this place it deserves to be busy all the time!"
