"When you're craving authentic Indian food with the true taste and flavor of India, look no further than Taka Tak in Oldbury. The dishes are freshly cooked, not reheated from frozen or leftovers, and absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with popular Indian songs playing, plenty of free on-site parking, and excellent customer service. The only downsides are the waiting time for food and portion sizes, which could be improved. Despite this, I would still give Taka Tak a 5-star rating and highly recommend it."

"Let me tell you, this is a little hidden gem, who would have thought Whitley, Northumberland Avenue could have one! It's a little rundown shopping mall and 1st appearance isn't great. Then you spot the outside planters,inside it's warm, friendly with attentive staff, also loved the feature wall with changing light's. Came here 4 my son's 18th, family party of 8, food was exceptional and they went the extra mile. Will I be coming back again? Damn right!"

We found that in fact the portions were well calculated and we could have indeed ordered a full portion for each person! Food was truly delicious ! "I have visited many Indian restaurants, but I have often been disappointed by the lack of variety in their dishes. They are either overly spicy or bland, and often drenched in oil and artificial coloring. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this particular restaurant. Despite its unassuming appearance, the food was well-seasoned, made with high quality meat, and overall excellent. I was very impressed and will definitely return. Although I have had some average experiences in the past, my most recent visit was once again excellent. Every restaurant has its off days, but for the price, this place offers the best value for takeout in York. While Mirchiz on Fishergate may offer slightly higher quality dining, it is also more expensive. For a local Indian restaurant, this place surpasses its competition."

"After being asked to order because it takes a while me thinking, that’s good must be freshly cooked and kitchen closes at 2120 even though closing days 2300!! . From ordering it took exactly 5 minutes to bring to the table, mushroom rice, cheese Nan and Lamb madras. Rice was really greasy and madras was a bit shy of lamb and it must have just been re heated, so anxious about stomach tomorrow Most expensive cheese naan I’ve ever had £5.25 and wasn’t that good either. Won’t be coming again or recommending this place at all- no wonder it’s empty"

"never had a bad one. always eat wonderful! we ordered very regularly during the shutdown. eating always comes hot and fresh and is delivered on time. our favourite dishes are tarka dansak (cut in nots) and say poneer with...runny cheese. the madras is excellent and tikka dishes always delicious. "Upon our arrival, we were seated in the bar area and promptly given menus and offered drinks. Our order, set menu A, was taken after a short wait. We were then escorted to our table and served poppadoms with a chutney tray within 5 minutes, which was a nice touch. The starters included onion bhajis, sheesh kebab, and a unique garlic chicken soup that was surprisingly tasty. For our main course, we enjoyed chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, pilau rice, and garlic naan, all of which were delicious and filling - definitely enough for two people! As part of the set menu, we were supposed to receive a coffee liqueur each, but it was not offered initially. Although there was a minor issue with the bill, it was quickly resolved (the waiter was new and not familiar with the set menu). However, when we requested the coffees, we were charged for them. Despite the small oversight, it was only a minimal amount so we decided to pay it without further ado. We would consider returning to this restaurant, but as always, it is important to double-check your bill before paying."

"The food tasted good, was hot and arrived on time. No complaints there. However, I felt that the person I spoke to on the phone lacked customer skills. I requested a substitution and the answer was a quick no, it does not come like that to which I responded that I am aware but I am requesting a substitution of equal value; Not a full portion of something else. What is the issue exactly with making this type of change? but that was answered with a simple ok, this time but not next time and when I posed the question again as to why that was a problem essentially the person was not wiling to converse and hang up. Overall not the best ordering experience. It would have been good to be given a reasonable response, particularly one that demonstrated that they care about what their customers want."

"I start with the positive, great location, beautiful pub beautiful and welcoming. we had booked a table in advance, which was good as he was pretty busy for a Tuesday. the disappointment came with the service, no one explained about the ordering over the app, we...figured that only for our drinks did not arrive ( apparently we added the wrong table number, we could not find that a drink finally arrived, was one not the correct order, but our server told us that he did not make the drinks. we decided to order food on the bar to be on the safe side. 5 minutes later we were told that there were no salads, no chips and only enough maic for a cake! no shinitzel. while I recognize this thing, it was the fact that nobody really seemed interested that we had a bad experience. eating was pretty good when it arrived, but we had to hurry when we had waited so long. it is a real shame that it would be great if these problems could be eliminated."

"Food republic is conveniently located in the middle of Broad Street. It serves mainly kebabs. During my visit, I had the chicken kebab in naan and fries. The portion sizes are big but the food tastes bland and overall quality is not great. Moreover, what they call naan is actually some kind of ready-made wrap. Service is not that great as there’s a wait for the food staff are not polite. I was also not given my 1 pence change. I know it’s only a penny but as a matter of principle, I expect to be given the correct change. I would recommend to avoid Food Republic, unless if you are desperately hungry. Even if that were the case, there are plenty of other places to eat at in that area, for example Jimmy Spices which is an all you can eat buffet costing about the same."

"30th August made a order online. I had already paid. I wondered what was going on as i havent heard anything from this company, then finally get a message rejecting the order! I rang up asked for a refund and why my order was rejected, the person I spoke too was nice and to ring the 3rd party as they took the money. I then get a phone call back I will get refund by end of day. I recieved nothing, next day I phoned up he was nice again told me that he will get in touch as soon as he knows something and apologised, My partner went to the shop without knowing I had already called. This man showed a WhatsApp message that havent been seen by curry hunter which I throught is very unprofessional. I phoned up again on monday he said can I get back to you. Tuesday this time it was the brother of the other person. He was very rude he made me cry down the phone, told me that his brother told me partner that I will get a refund in 2weeks which was a lie, he was shouting at me wouldnt letting me get out what I had to say he. I then get a text message from the person I was talking to before saying it's not for them to give me the money that curry hunter needs to sort it out not them. I then had a phone call from the manager from curry hunter manager very nice and understand they told me how things are meant to work and how mazza has dealt with me and this situation is very wrong. He told me I will receive this refund tomorrow if not to call. I got nothing I wouldnt rate this company at all never had a problem until now will not be going back EVER!!"

"I have ordered food from here while at work on a Monday to Friday and food is delivered promptly with no problems. However, delivery times for a Saturday is an absolute joke. I ordered a breakfast at 12:26 PM on Saturday via Just Eat, after waiting an hour and 20 minutes I phoned them to find out where the delivery was and I was told that I was next on the list so I asked them to cancel it because it would be at least another half an hour before it arrive making a grand total of 2 hours wait. At 2:50 PM I received a telephone call to say my delivery was at the door for me, by then I had made myself something to eat, eaten it and washed it up! DO NOT ORDER FOOD ON A SATURDAY UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO WAIT A LONG"

"We have been frequenting this restaurant for years and it has always been our favorite Indian spot. On New Year's Eve, we placed an order for delivery at 5:30 pm and were told it would take 1.5 to 2 hours. Unfortunately, the food never arrived and despite trying to call numerous times, there was no answer. The next day, I went to the restaurant as soon as they opened to address the issue. They claimed all deliveries had been made, but while I was there, the phone rang multiple times with other customers experiencing the same problem - no food delivered but payment taken. The staff said there was nothing they could do and I am now waiting for my bank to resolve the issue. As regular customers who spend at least £60 a month at this restaurant, we were extremely disappointed and will not be returning."

"What a hidden gem. Authentic old school Indian restaurant, family run business for over 50 years. Used to eat here years ago then moved away. Returned 2 weeks running now for their excellent value banquet night on a Monday. Starter, main dish, rice, vegetable dish, bread and tea or coffee all for £13 each. The food was spot on, even took a doggie bag home! Piping hot and lots of it. Staff so attentive, nothing is too much trouble. Booked a table online. So easy. Would highly recommend. Will be back next Monday :"
