"very small restaurant at the side of the pub. It was fine. Food was good but service was strange. They brought the prossecco but the waitress said she couldn’t open it so we did it ourselves (although sue said she would get someone who could)!. The 2nd bottle she brought it already opened. The band arrived in the pub so it got a little noisy but it was ok as we knew there would be a band playing that evening. The food was good."

"I made a reservation to watch the England game and was seated at a fantastic table right in front of the screen. The food was outstanding, surpassing the quality of other Indian restaurants in the area that I have visited. Despite the pub being crowded, our server Theresa provided excellent service, even managing a few noisy tables. I highly recommend this establishment."

"Dinner for 2. Return visit as I had been previously during the Eat out promotion with a friend and food had been excellent. Food was still very good although we thought the mixed vegetable platter starter was a bit greasy. Staff were very good and we had a nice evening. We would still recommend as there are some nice choices of the menu that differ from our usual Indian."

I would highly recommend the set dinner for 1 if you have a big appetite. Great quality food for an affordable price. "OMG! This place is a true gem One of the best Indian restaurants in London, offering truly amazing food with a wonderful ambiance and friendly staff. I ordered the Lamb Biryani, Kerala Parotta, and Lamb Ularthiyath. While everything was delicious, the Lamb Ularthiyath really stood out. Even though the prices were reasonable, the unexpectedly high convenience fee came as a surprise. Overall, it was an exceptional dining experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine in London!"

"I 'm a lover of hot curries..and I mean really,really hot curries: A Vindaloo is mild to my palate,so I thought I 'd go one step up and order a Chicken Phall from City Spice. I 'm glad to say it didn 't disappoint. The Chicken was perfectly cooked;fibrous,generous,great texture and not at all like that rubbery,watery injected stuff. (as is customary in so many Indian restaurants these days).The sauce was to die for and had the perfect pureed consistency...cooked and roasted to perfection...Thank you Chef,you have a great palate.. The meal had the taste of a true 'BIR ' (British Indian Restaurant) in the same way I remember it from the 80 's, when we used to stagger home drunk and stop at the nearest Indian restaurant on the way home. The portions are very generous too.Don 't hesitate to order from City Spice. I find that the true benchmark for any Indian restaurant/takeaway is how well they cook their hot curries...If the really hot curries are good the rest of the menu will be outstanding. I 'll definitely be a regular customer here!"

"We give British pub fare much due credit for coming a long way in the last 20 years since its previous dark days of unmitigated blandom. Still, the vanguard of English culinary salvation remains its range and ubiquity of excellent Indian food, as we are sampling this evening, with Asian and Mediterranean food holding up the flank and rear. This place is a prime example ans best in class for its specific category of hard to find authentic South Indian far. On order shown here are chicken masala dosai (crepe) and chicken biryani. The restaurant cuisine actually hails from my ancestral Kerala which I have yet to discover. The copious portions made for ample take home, even for the two ravenous patrons."

"We recently visited Gifto's on a trip to Southall. We had Nihari, Lamb Biryani and Mix Grill for take away. The Nihari was ok. Lamb Biryani was very good and Mix grill was also good. "Many moons ago when I worked in Slough a work colleague introduced me to this place. And there begun our love of the biryani and vegetable samosa. Ate here last night and although the vegetable samosa was excellent the biryani wasn't as good as normal. Rice looked like a longer grain but the flavour was also different. Please bring back the old biryani! This isn't the most conformable place. Designed to eat and go. More cafe style.....service is always OK. Don't go expecting Michelin starred food. It's also not like the high street Indian restaurants. This is traditional food.Will definitely return with high hopes of their 5 star biryani returning!"

"I was having a birthday weekend and had booked to go to my favourite noodle bar. Turned up and it was closed, so had to look for an alternative. We walked around a little and found this place and took a chance and went in. It was absolutely the best decision we could have made. We ordered noodles, Caramelised Pork, Chicken Wings and vegetables in Ginger. The pork was melt in the mouth and the wings crispy and seasoned just right. The chicken Noodles were so good I found it hard to stop eating. We topped this off with some Sake and the evening's feast was complete. I cannot fault this place, if you want delicious food, great company (our waiter was funny and charming), then this is the place for you. It's my new favourite and I would definitely return."

"I eat vegan food because I am allergic to dairy, egg and shelfish (I have an anaphylaxis allergy to shelfish aka my throat closes over why I eat it). I was immediately disappointed with this restaurant as the staff were rude, the atmosphere was unpleasant and the service was very slow (took 1hour and a half to be served). Things got worse when my supposedly vegan food arrived but had shellfish in it I soon spent the evening in A&E fearing for my life. When I went in the next day to politely asked what had been put in my food (in case I reacted to a new allergen) the owner treated me unkindly and told me the allergy was my fault. Never again will I support this business owner and I do not reccomend this place for anyone"

The prices are reasonable. The portions may seem small, but they are actually quite filling. It can get busy, so it's best to make a reservation or arrive early. The service, dining in, and atmosphere all rated a 5. Recommended dishes include Masala Dosa, Chicken Tikka, and Pilau Rice.
