"The main reason why i did not give a better review was that i discovered Gridiron via an add that appeared on instagram and i clicked on the link and checked out the menus and i noticed that you have a set menu available until 7:30 mon-sat, we attended on a friday at 5:30 but was told that the set menu was not available which was very disappointing as this is what first attracted me in the first place. I have looked at your website since that visit and noticed that it still has the set menu. Can you tell me if this set menu is still available and why i was not offered it on my visit. Thanks.. Scott Richardson"

"Upon our arrival, we were given the choice between outdoor and indoor seating. Since the sun was shining brightly, we chose to sit outside. The outdoor area was a lovely sun trap, and we ended up staying all day. The Sunday roast was fantastic, with plenty of options available for everyone at the table. The service was excellent as well; Richard was very accommodating and provided some excellent recommendations. We will definitely be returning!"

"Began our evening with drinks outside which was very enjoyable, always a buzzy atmosphere at this pub. We moved inside to eat in the restaurant, unfortunately the food was disappointing on this occasion. The burgers were overcooked and dry and the fish and chips was mainly batter. We had Prosecco which was a special price of £20 a bottle (on Fridays) which is amazing value. We also had the Gavi which was extremely good."

"At the bar, drinks were being served, but the cocktails took longer to arrive. The bartender informed me that they would be brought to the table. There were only nine people in the bar/lounge area, three of whom were men. After waiting for 15 minutes, I noticed some foldable napkins and asked for the cocktail. The bartender pointed to the bar where a server was busy with other patrons. It was quite odd, as he seemed completely uninterested and looked at me as if to say, "How dare you ask?" In the restaurant, which had about five tables occupied, my daughter ordered a gin and tonic with Hendrick’s gin. The server returned and said they didn’t have it, so we agreed on Bombay Sapphire instead. After the server came back again, she informed us that they were out of Bombay Sapphire as well. On her third visit, she regretfully said they had completely run out of gin. My wife requested black pepper, but the waitress mentioned they only had white pepper available in a shaker on the table. Halfway through our meal, we saw the restaurant manager rushing by and asked about the black pepper. She assured us she would get some. Eventually, after 80% of our meal was finished, a server finally brought a pepper pot to our table. She explained it took so long because they hadn’t realized how to open it. To our surprise, my wife showed her that it was actually a pepper grinder! Despite the good food and friendly service, it was clear that the staff lacked proper training. This experience at the Marriott Highcliff Hotel in Bournemouth did not reflect well on the Marriott brand. The atmosphere felt poorly managed, and no one seemed responsible or genuinely interested in providing good service. It was a rather strange experience overall."

"At the bar, drinks were being poured and the girl mentioned that the cocktail would take a while to be brought to the table. There were a total of 9 people in the bar/lounge area with three servers. After 15 minutes, I noticed the bartender folding napkins and asked for the cocktail. He gestured towards the bar where the girl had been standing before serving other customers. The bartender seemed disinterested and gave me a look as if to say, "How dare you ask?" In the restaurant, which had 5 dining tables, my daughter requested a Hendrick's gin and tonic but the server had never heard of it. She suggested a Bombay Sapphire instead, but they were out of that too. My wife asked for black pepper, but the server claimed they only had white pepper in the shaker on the table. Midway through the meal, the restaurant managers ran by and inquired about the missing black pepper. Eventually, a server brought a pepper pot to the table and mentioned that it took so long because they didn't know how to open it, but it turned out to be a pepper grinder. Despite the food being good and the service friendly, the staff seemed to have no idea what they were doing. This particular location, the Marriot Highcliff Hotel in Bournemouth, does not live up to the standards of the Marriot Group. It lacked a sense of responsibility and interest, giving off a poor impression overall. A bizarre and disappointing experience."

"We celebrated my mother's 89th birthday with a delightful afternoon tea. The setting was lovely and the seating was very comfortable. We absolutely loved the scones with jam and cream, and the selection of freshly brewed loose leaf teas was exceptional. The service was excellent, with great attention to detail. To top it off, one of the waiters even brought a small cake to the table so that I could light a candle fountain for my mother. It was a truly unforgettable experience."

"my great sister visited me and we wanted a show in the hydro. I was looking for a restaurant to book and chose fanny trollopes. the location was correct and I was a handful of time before and liked it. I was not yet a past after a mediocre meal, but every one eat before that was ridden with me about fanny’s so that this return visit was long overdue. a bottle of red has been ordered, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. we both liked it. the red wines are all between £14,95 and £19,95 – quite decent prices. we had a small pre-starter of salmon with salat, crème fraiche and capern. not in the rule one for salmon, i zeltativ...read more"

"The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is well-organized, but we found it to be overpriced. We were surprised to discover a discretionary 12.5% service fee added to our bill. As customers, we felt we had two choices: either pay this additional charge on top of an already steep meal or embarrass ourselves by asking the server to remove it. In our experience, the server was defensive about our concerns, leading us to decide that we would not return to this restaurant. We can't help but wonder if the extra income from this fee compensates for the customers they lose due to this policy. The service itself was acceptable, and had we not been put in this situation, we would have left a tip."

"Exmouth Market’s latest Italian addition Paesan, opened this summer. Following a cucina povera (peasant kitchen) theme the restaurant and bar frames its food as ‘simple, honest, real food made with love and imagination’. We grabbed a table outside on the pavement, on undoubtedly one of the hottest days this year. With the evening summer heat and the lively buzz of post work diners assembled outside the expanse of Exmouth Market’s eateries, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in a rustic Italian market town……. then a homeless man asks you for 50p, you hear the sirens, the horn honking, see the masses of red buses and black cabs flying past. Yes, you’re in London but...read more"
