"it has beautiful interiors with live jazz music in the night! always a nice experience to go and dinate here! it can also be a nice choice for special occasions, as the ambiente is beautiful with high ceilings! I am not too familiar with French cuisine, but eating enjoyed at both places! it would be amazing if they increased the options in their meal schedules!"

"visited here with 5 friends and after a bit of a shaky start (it took the waitress 3 attempts to get a white wine spritzer, with soda, correct) the meal was lovely. Although there were 6 of us we weren't kept waiting and the food order was correct as well as everyone enjoying their starters and main meals (we didn't have desserts)."

"The Button Factory is a nice restaurant/pub to go for casual food and drinks. There is a large bar area where you can sit and enjoy drinks from the extensive drinks list including beers, cocktails and wines, huge variety. There is also another area with an open kitchen, where you can enjoy some food. Went there on Saturday for some lunch. It was quite busy but a member of staff found us a table quickly and sat us. At that moment the menu offered brunch. Plenty of small plates, mains, sides and desserts. Everything was absolutely delicious and homemade. The staff were all very friendly and helpful! Overall very nice experience and definitely going back soon!"

"The Swan Hotel is housed in a historic building and has a glamorous decor. It offers a stunning view of the Cathedral and has a charming outdoor seating area that overlooks The Green. We had high hopes for our meal with friends in the restaurant, as we were promised locally sourced, made-to-order dishes. Unfortunately, the pork was overcooked and the chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream was disappointingly dry, reminiscent of a school cafeteria dessert. At a fixed price of £25 for two courses, the experience fell short of our expectations."

"Popped in for a drink and ended up Booking a table for dinner. So pleased we did as was fantastic. We had a dog friendly table as staying with our dog so that’s already a big thumbs up for us. Food was delicious! We chose from the small plate menu and shared- the stuffed courgette flowers were incredible and the mango cheesecake was the perfect end to a lovely dinner. Staff were attentive and friendly! Would definitely recommend and hope to return!"

"It took over an hour for our starters to arrive, and they forgot my husband's completely. The same happened with our main courses—another meal for our daughter was missed. There were zero apologies; at one point, I got a frustrating shrug when I asked about our food. The food itself was terrible. There was no bread or pizza available at all. My mother-in-law ordered seafood linguine but only found three empty clams in it, with nothing else. Despite the two forgotten meals, we weren’t offered any discounts on our bill or even an apology. I was so embarrassed to be there on what should have been a special occasion. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it at all costs."

"Location 1 of only 2 hotels in the villiage affording amazing views over the Loch from the lounge, restuarant and loch facing bedrooms. Large carpark at the front, easy access. There is a villiage store which sells most produce at slightly inflated prices as they have the monopoly. There are no independent restuarants or take a ways in the area. First impressions Looks a bit like a motel, the building could do witha bit of TLC with paint peeling off cills and walls. Staff Very friendly and helpfull. Room We had room 10 which was a loch facing room, the room was basic with a comfortable bed but no wardrobes for hanging clothes and limited drawer space. There was Tea and coffee makings in the room. The WiFi was non existant in the room and we had to virtually stand next to the modems at the top of the stairs or in the bar area to get a signal. The Bathroom had a bath with a shower. The tiled floor showed signs and wear around the toilet and room looked tired. There was no daily room servicing to make the bed, replenish the tea, milk and coffee or replace any towels or toiletries if needed. The fridge did make a noise so we turned that off at night. The room faces the main road some 50yds away but we noticed no noise from passing traffic. Probably because it is a quiet location. Food Disappointed that for £270 for 2 persons for 2 nights that that did not include breakfast which was £10 for continental or £15 for English. We both had Duck for dinner, I found the duck very nice with a lovely sauce but thought that 1 sliver of carrot, 1 small piece of pak Choi, 1 cube of potato, about 3cm cubed, and a couple of sprigs of broccolli was a bit meagre for the price. The bar had an extensive range of whiskies and limited ales."

"Wow! This place is amazing, especially for railway enthusiasts. We were greeted with a warm welcome on arrival and made to feel right at home! The service was simply outstanding! The rooms are novel and the concept of converting old coaches into rooms is great. There’s loads of railway memorabilia around too which adds to the theme. There is also a nice balcony which looks out on the railway line! The food was nice too! Drinks were fairly priced! All in all a great place sadly not the easiest place to reach if you don’t have a car, but honestly if you get the chance to visit, then I’d say take it! It’s a unique and fun experience Rooms: Converted carriages all with different themes. All en suite. Nearby activities: Next to the East Coast Main Line with a viewing balcony so ideal for railway enthusiasts. A short drive away from York which has a lot to see and do. Walkability: Not easily walkable to nearby towns etc need a car to access this location ideally Food drinks: Great food, prices very fair Noteworthy details: The rooms are converted railway coaches and there is a railway theme throughout."

"The restaurant was empty, and there were only two items available on the menu because of a previous power issue. Additionally, my reservation couldn't be found in their system. I decided not to stay for a meal."

"Having had some (too many) appointments at St Mary's hospital i have been in a few times Surprised pleasantly of the atmosphere and staff In particular as an observer an elderly gentleman not used to card payments was assisted in paying with cash The poor guy dropped his newly atm'd money all over the floor and they were so so kind and respectful not knowing i or anyone else was watching I've been in a few times and really seems a good morale Nice to see with so man sour faces in hospitality these or any other days I brought my observations eventually with the manager Zac believe Impressively run business with attention to detail irrespective of previous comments on the customer relations Hope and deserve to do well"
