"This is such a friendly family run hotel/restaurant that it would be very difficult to find fault with it. I never have. Matt is such an innovative chef and he has such a light touch with spices so they are very flavoursome but not overpowering. I had the Sizzling Gambas, Nasi Goreng followed by the Berry Pavlova all of which were to die for. I keep threatening to break in an steal his recipes but I doubt I could do justice to them. I came here with 11 friends, all had different meals, but none of us were disatisfied or disappointed, in fact we had a great time. I would certainly recommend this venue to even the fussiest of people. I will certainly be back for more. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble and Natalie is very accomodating."

Really well trained friendly staff, interesting tasty menu. Portions sensible and reasonably priced. Haven’t been for a couple of years, pretty impressed.

Visited on a Monday night and was surprised how busy it was. Booking is recommended. Portions are large, but smaller plate options are available. Good food, lovely staff and excellent service.

Once again, I was thoroughly impressed by the food and service at this restaurant. Our group of eight all enjoyed generously-sized portions of delicious meals. The staff were friendly and efficient. View menu

We ate of the in-between menu and the chicken burger was simply amazing. Probably the best chicken burger I've ever had ! Service wise could have been ABIT better. There was a mix up with one of the plates of food and it was taken away from our table without much explanation. Manager spoke with us and apologised after. Will be looking to return

Nat Rob and his team made our 40th anniversary extra special. The room was clean and tidy, albeit a bit small. However, we were only using it for sleeping. The en suite was compact but served its purpose. We dined at the restaurant on two nights and the food was superb. All the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making our experience truly wonderful.

Popped in for a drink and ended up Booking a table for dinner. So pleased we did as was fantastic. We had a dog friendly table as staying with our dog so that’s already a big thumbs up for us. Food was delicious! We chose from the small plate menu and shared- the stuffed courgette flowers were incredible and the mango cheesecake was the perfect end to a lovely dinner. Staff were attentive and friendly! Would definitely recommend and hope to return! View menu

I was planning to grab a quick pub lunch on the way home from holiday, but found The Priory and had a banquet. Rare rack of lamb cooked exquisitely, with a mint jus, tenderstem broccoli, red cabbage, new pots. Not my intention to have pudding but this meal was so delicious I needed to know what came next..... And I was not disappointed. I will be back, bringing friends over and over again. Thank you to all the lovely friendly staff, and especially to the Chef!!

My wife and I changed our meal arrangments after viewing the Menu in The Priory Inn and we were not dissapointed. From the time we entered the bar for a drink the staff were extremely helpful, polite and welcoming. I had the T-Bone Veal which was lovely and my wifes vegitarian option was Teginne which was equally delicious. The restaurant has a very pleasent atmosphere and all the staff were polite, attentive, efficient and welcoming. I would very highly recomend The Priory Inn and would like to thank the staff for ensuring we had an amazing evening.

"Our third visit for a birthday dinner wasn’t as good as previous visits. The sweet potato soup was plain; the bread was actually toast which smacks of old bread being used. My main course of Sole was smothered with capers, which spoiled the flavour. The salad was amazing; I also ordered Savoy cabbage which may be unusual with the fish but I’d had it on two previous visits and it was delicious; but the savoy cabbage that I paid £3.50 for was absolutely dreadful, so dry, probably microwaved to death; it would not be a gross overstatement to suggest that wood shavings off the floor would have been better. The other disappointment was how tired the place is looking. When I went to the gents, the cistern cover was off showing a clear huge damp problem with mould, and the door cubicle wouldn’t close because it was swollen. I imagine they have been told to keep the cistern cover off to let the walls dry out; which they should do when the pub is closed, not during opening hours. It looked awful and the visible mould was worrying. Whilst in the cubicle the light suddenly went off within seconds of being in there which was disconcerting. For the price and the level where the Cat and Custard Pot is placed it should be immaculate with excellent food. I’m disappointed for them and for us, because this has been a goto dining place for birthdays at least once a year, but we won’t be repeating the experience. It’s worth saying that we have always experienced good service and this occasion was no exception, the waitress was excellent."

"On the surface, this restaurant looks like it should deliver. The service was slow, despite there being 3 members of staff, front of house, and 7 covers. The 3 members of staff spent the majority of their time by the entrance, away from the main restaurant. I finally had my order taken and asked for a beer and a jug of tap water. The beer arrived, but no water! The food was placed in front of me, without a word. No offer of any dressing or if I needed anything else. Throughout my meal, I didn't see a member of staff until my starter was finished. It was collected, without a word. No engagement at all! My main came a pizza). It was placed in front of my, again, without a word, and the staff member went back to join the others who were out of sight. Again, my finished main was collected, without a word...Nothing! 10 minutes later, I had a desert menu placed on my table, I think the members of staff may be mutes! My desert menu was collected and she spoke!!! I declined the offer of desert as I really wasn't impressed with the service. Writing this, I can hear the girls chatting out of sight) so they can hold a conversation. I know this country is struggling for hospitality staff, but in what could be a very good restaurant, I expected more. The starter was good. The pizza was average just lacked flavour). I wish I'd stuck with my original plan and gone to the Tapas bar, along the road..."
