"We pre booked our table 2 weeks in advanced. On arrival 1 hour before our booking we had an email to say our reservation had been cancelled. I rang through to the Plaza reception who transferred me to the Atrio restaurant, they apologised and said the table was still available. We arrived with myself and my 3 daughters to a sofa and very low table and two cosy sofa chairs. not really appropriate for dinner), we ordered our meal drinks, the was busy with people who seem to be stood around us. My Daughter ordered the pizza from the main menu. When she started to eat the pizza, a piece of chicken was sat underneath a slice!! We called over the waitress who kindly apologised and we had to sit and wait for another pizza. By this time my other two daughters had finished their meal. To which they only being 7 9 yrs old had to sit on the floor. Even though the service charge was waived. It was still an unpleasant experience with finding a piece of chicken underneath the margarita pizza and reserving a dinner table for 4 on advance only to be taken to a casual sofa. When there were other people sat on laptops not eating on actual tables. The service was very slow but only 2 staff on duty plus a manager. Who didn’t even come over personally to apologise. Other than that the Park county plaza hotel was lovely ."

"we had the afternoon, which was so beautifully presented (with real strawberries on the skornen also:D and had the dog in the afternoon, who loved monty! he got whipped cream, dry cookies, wet dog food and a tennis ball. really nice ground outside with huge chess to play and explore gardens. had a really nice time"

"I would have loved to rate our dining experience at the Ivy House a lot higher but we were to leave somewhat disappointed. The dining area was pleasant and intimate with well appointed decor, the waitress and waiters pleasant, polite and attentive. The varied menu looked very appetising with most tastes catered for. We chose two courses from the main menu, the Duck Breast and a Fish Dish for myself. Contrary to other reviews we were to wait over 40 minutes before the food was presented to us. We were not advised of any delays or even the expected length of time we might have to wait. The food on arrival was well presented and flavoursome although I did not consider two small stem broccoli spears a serving. I also asked the waiter why there was no Samphire to accompany my dish as stated on the menu, this comment was also reinforced by a fellow diner who ate the same dish just prior to me. The waiter advised me that he would ask the chef. I did not receive a response to my question during further table service and subsequently asked the waiter again. On returning the waiter advised me the chef said “he will try to remember to put it on next time”, a somewhat disrespectful comment. The Cheese platter we were presented with was lacklustre and sparse, quince jelly and a small dish of chutney being the predominant feature. For ourselves we did not feel that our dining experience represented good value for money."

"My partner and I have travelled from Liverpool for a weekend in the Lakes. We stopped here in Cockermouth on our way through having booked a table with yourselves through OpenTable. I even confirmed yesterday when contacted by OpenTable. We arrived this evening, closed…..? My contact details were provided, I’ve not been contacted, and there was no explanation offered. After traipsing round Cockermouth I’ve finally found somewhere to eat, and told that you are now closed by another restaurant manager. To not have the decency to contact a customer to say you are closed is appalling. It would take 30seconds of your time and cost literally nothing. If a customer just chose not to turn up you would be slating them."

"We were a diverse group of 6 with a mix of ages. I had promised the youngest member pizza, so it was disappointing to find out that there were no pizzas available on Sunday during lunchtime. The online menu had listed burgers and other options, but they were not available on Sundays. Instead, there were only a selection of roasts with a few side dishes and starters. However, the food that was served was delicious, reasonably priced, and enjoyed by everyone in our group. While I understand that it may not be feasible to offer a full menu on Sundays, it would have been nice to have the burger option to cater to the younger diners. The staff were exceptional and we had a great experience overall."
