I wanted to share my experience at your establishment, The Allegory, located at 1a Principal Place, Worship Street, London, EC2A 2FA. Unfortunately, my partner and I found our meals to be quite disappointing. My partner's chicken skewers arrived lukewarm and seemed stale, as though they had been sitting out for a while or were reheated. I ordered the vegan taco as a starter, but it was unbearably spicy, making it difficult for me to enjoy the meal afterwards. I question whether it should have been that spicy. For my main course, I chose the vegan curry, which was also lukewarm and unappetizing. I managed to take a few bites but felt embarrassed to leave most of it uneaten, so I requested to take it with me. However, when I exited the restaurant, I was still hungry. Given the total of £42.75, I felt the price was quite steep for a meal that we did not enjoy. I have heard wonderful things about your restaurant and wonder if our experience was just an off day. We were genuinely disappointed in our culinary experience and I felt it was important to provide this feedback. "My friend really enjoyed their burger, but the spicy chicken wings I ordered were quite disappointing. They had a kind of stale taste, as if they'd been fried once and then fried again. I'm not sure what the issue was, but they didn't meet my expectations, especially considering the price. The chips were decent, though. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, and there was a good selection of non-alcoholic beverages."

"Went for Beauty and The Beast afternoon tea yesterday. Utterly stunning building and the room we were sat in was decorated beautifully. The service from start to finish was lovely although we did have to flag someone down anytime we needed something as we were not approached at all for more drinks or if we wanted our scones. The sandwiches were lovely and cut perfectly if not a little bland. The chicken roll was lovely and the toastie was nice but would benefit from stronger cheese as it didn’t really taste of anything. The scones were perfect and some of the best I’ve ever eaten. The sausage rolls were amazing as were the little tart and salmon mousse. The cakes very much let it all down. The blueberry cake tasted of nothing and seemed greasy. The macaron again tasted of very little and the red food colouring stained everything it touched. The lemon cake was nice but the icing was awful and it seemed to be made from margarine rather than actual butter. The chocolate mousse was lovely if not a little strong for the children. Both the savoury and sweet biscuits were out of this world. Our biggest complaint is that 4 of us were squeezed into a small table. We really struggled for space. I couldn’t drink my tea and had to hand back my pot of tea as we simply didn’t have space for it. We felt incredibly cramped. It would of been nice to have some music in line with the themed afternoon tea playing too perhaps?"

"On 24/04/22, I went to this restaurant for brunch. They had a great selection of food, which was well presented and served in good-sized portions. Sherwood doesn't have many breakfast options, so this information might be helpful for others in the area. It was 31 degrees outside, a significant increase from the day before, and we were feeling the heat! We noticed they had vegan ice cream and sorbet, so we decided to stop in. The serving staff were super friendly and helpful. There were around six different flavors of vegan ice cream to choose from, all of which were delicious. We also bought some cake to take home - a biscoff cake and a peanut butter chocolate slice - and they were absolutely divine. We didn't see the savory menu, but if the desserts are anything to go by, it's definitely worth a visit when you're in Sherwood. (Review updated from 2019-07-01)"

"We initially had a great impression of this charming hotel. We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea before checking in, which was fresh and of great quality. The room was decent, although the sloped ceilings made it a bit challenging for me as a 6ft tall person to maneuver around the bed. Despite the out-of-order lift, our second-story room was generally fine. The bathroom was outdated with a tricky shower, making it difficult to adjust the temperature and the water pressure was lackluster. Unfortunately, breakfast was a letdown compared to the excellent afternoon tea we had the day before. There was a limited selection (no potato option and no pancakes as advertised). My wife and I opted for poached eggs since the scrambled eggs looked unappetizing, but we only received one each after a 15-minute wait. The bacon was fatty, sausages weren't good, and the beans were lukewarm at best. The room felt dark, but the glasses for fruit juice were a good size. The pool was also underwhelming, with no changing room and a dark atmosphere with insufficient warmth. The service at the bar was slow, and we had to seek assistance from the restaurant staff at the other end of the hotel. Drinks were pricey. Although the staff were friendly and welcoming, we have decided not to stay at this hotel again. In summary, Rooms: 3, Service: 4, Location: 4. Hotel highlights: Quiet location."

"If you're in search of a spot to find super healthy, organic, and vegan food, then this little café is the place to be. Located in the Grassmarket, directly under the DanceBase, the refrigerators are stocked with salads, quinoa, sweet bowls, smoothies, health dishes, juices, and more. The space is small with only 3 tables that can accommodate up to 10 people, but it's popular for midday takeaways. I initially stopped in for a coffee with almond milk, soy, or coconut milk alternative, but I overheard that they were serving a peanut curry for lunch. I must say, the peanut curry with brown rice was fantastic. It was filling, hearty, and healthy. The carrots and chickpeas in the curry were flavorful, and the rice had a rich nutty taste. It was the perfect meal for a rainy day in Edinburgh. While it may be a bit pricey, the quality of the food makes it worth it."

"FLIP served up one of the best vegan roasts I have ever eaten in my life. There were 2 of us and we ordered one portion of the nut roast and one portion of the vegan Wellington dish options and shared them between us. Both were equally tasty and served up with wonderfully roasted potatoes, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, and Kale, along with a generous jug of gravy. Very decently priced at £11.95/12.95 as the portion sizes were great. We shared a vegan cheese board afterwards on which 5 different cheeses were presented alongside flatbreads, a large portion of chutney and some grapes. The service was brilliant really friendly and helpful people work at Flip. The deli is really well presented and a relaxed and calm environment to dine in. We're definitely coming back! Thank you everyone at Flip Food for a wonderful place to eat vegan."

"Our afternoon tea at the Beaulieu Hotel was booked to celebrate my sister's birthday who is visiting from the USA. It was a disaster from start to finish. After a very long wait at reception, we were told that our reservation would not be honoured as they had overbooked. We waited around and insisted on seeing the Manager. She put two tables together and after making the tables fairly clean, we were seated. The food came without plates of cutlery. We attempted to eat with our fingers but then insisted on cutlery. It was a long time coming. The food was inedible. We left most of it. Would never go there again or recommend this hotel."

"I think our expectations of Burley exceeded what they had to offer. Given the beautiful building and surrounds we expected good service and quality of food. We were not greeted on arrival and had to figure out where to go after waiting at reception for 10 mins. No reply to the bell. The pil pil (prawn) start was completely tasteless to the point it wasnt worth eating. The mains were good and enjoyable. The service was terrible one staff member asked me what was on a dish like we were playing a guessing game. Of all the staff on shift one seemed to know what she was doing. Every encounter was with a different staff member. No comsistancy. Overall I wouldnt go back. I came away dissapointed. Has so much potential, but feels lack luster. Finally, there was a wedding on, although this shouldnt impede the restaurant experience it may be a contributing factor to our visit."

"We visited Bartley Lodge for afternoon tea to celebrate my wife 's 60th birthday. The kitchen staff kindly put a sparkler into a small cake on a plate with piped chocolate 'Happy Birthday ' on it, which was a lovely touch. The afternoon tea was a real breath of fresh air, since unlike many teas this had no sandwiches but the savoury items included quiche, slices of homemade sausage roll (excellent) and ham salad sliders. All items had been produced to a very high standard, the scones and cream were particularly nice ! We were seated in a small ante room off the main dining area, bright and sunny with large windows on three sides allowing views over the garden and surrounding countryside. Unobtrusive piped music was played with a mix of 1980s and 1990s pop songs. The staff were ideally attentive, with extra tea as we required it. The staff were led by Paulo, who kindly provided us with boxes to take away the items we couldn 't finish, and he showed us some of the other rooms in the Lodge with many historical items. All in all a wonderful experience, and we would certainly consider returning. Thank you Paulo and the team !"
