"I booked the group dining room for my birthday and Grace, who I communicated with to make the reservation, was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. The dining room was beautiful and perfect for group dinners or celebrations. The service was exceptional from the beginning, with all the staff being friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We all enjoyed the seasonal tasting menu, which was great as there was no need for everyone to order individually – they just started bringing out the food. The food was delicious and served promptly, leaving us all feeling very satisfied by the end of the meal. The tasting menu cost only £70 and provided a generous amount of food. I wanted to share my birthday cake with my guests and take home leftovers, so they provided us with food boxes for this purpose. Overall, it was a lovely experience and I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its great food and service."

"Covid blamed for all shortcomings as has become the new norm but poor service standards, cleanliness and prep are a given minimum expectation when you pay for a supposed' high class meal. Booked well in advance and made it clear that one of us was gluten intolerant. Found our booking but had to request a GF menu! Didn't have one so doctored a normal one. Starters were OK for veggies and fish eaters but nothing otherwise. Venison was chewy. Portion of fries missed. Cutlery was cheap, tables sticky, drab atmosphere. Ate here some years ago and really enjoyed it. This experience was therefore very disappointing. Makes me wonder what the rooms are like?"

"This is one of our local pubs and, when it was refurbished, we were very impressed. The price was on the higher side, but the menu was amazing; plenty of reference to local suppliers along with some inventive takes on traditional pub food. Service was awesome (almost personal) and the specials board was brilliant. Consequently, we have been here several times, but this last time was a disappointment, especially as far as the menu (which they used to change regularly) was concerned it was just ...well... ORDINARY ... Standard pub style offerings, nothing particularly inspiring. Don 't get me wrong, it tasted fine, was presented well and was of good quality, so I suppose it 's a little churlish of me to make comment; but for the price, I was expecting more of what I got last time they seem to have played safe since we last went... Perhaps that what the great British public want, though? Service was on the slow ish side, ...too few staff... said the waitress, with at least half the tables full, there was one person on the bar and the wait staff were run ragged I hope they get well paid, because they tried their best to remain cheerful. It 's still a nice place, the food is 'fine ', just don 't go expecting to be blown away."

"We dined at varanasi restaurant for my birthday. What a fabulous and unique find. Blown away from the moment we stepped in. Pleasant and friendly welcoming. Entrance and as you go into the restaurant almost as though you have transitted into a restaurant in a different country. Decor and design is truly immaculate, classy, elegant and completly different to what i have seen in birmingham. Food absloutly outstanding, exceptionally tasty, flovours and spices just right and moctails very nice. A special thank you to the waiting team who served us with such professionalism, friendliness, made us feel so important, thank you also for bringing out the cake and singing happy birthday you can actually sing guys. We loved our evening, thank you to the waiter for giving us a tour of the restaurant we loved the private dining rooms very equisite and luxurious, we are looking to hold a christmas party so we will most definently will be back."

"Great setting, Great service, Great food! As locals this was our first visit for a few years. We were with. Friend who has a few mobility issues and struggles with the cold. The table were allocated was by the door to the outside area which was a bit too cold and drafty for our friend. After mentioning this we were offered a table at the back which was perfect…thanks! Both food and service was first class. We chose a few small plates to start, and a mix of Seafood linguine, massama curry and a halloumi wrap for mains. Everything was made with quality ingredients, tasty and appetising and served by friendly attentive staff. Absolute couldn’t fault anything. Thank you"

"Not impressed at all. Ambience was good as expected but the food quality and noise spoiled it all. The starters were burnt (literally burnt) which you would not expect from a restaurant of this stature. The mains were luke warm at best and of ordinary preparation. Hot toddy that I ordered was far too sweet!! I complained and the manager they didn’t charge for drinks but still disappointed overall. It was not the fine dining experience that we were hoping for."

"I absolutely love the Sunday roast at this restaurant. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is that of a traditional London pub that has been well-maintained and tastefully enhanced over the years. I've visited with various groups and everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their experience. I highly recommend becoming a Sunday regular at this spot!"

"Little alternative if staying the hotel. Booking was easy, restaurant was expecting me. Had a nice table and not given some back corner because I was a single woman. Food was good but menu hadn’t changed for months stayed twice this year already Glass of wine is expensive, better value to buy a bottle if you can. Service was a little over attentive and pushy but changed when I asked for more time to consider"

"This place is fantastic. The staff were all friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The distillery tour is great, and you get to taste whisky, vodka, and gin at the end. The shop has a great selection of spirits and is very well-kept. The bistro on site is a bit pricey for what you get - I found my beef sandwich to be a bit lacking for £13.50. However, the whisky tour was the highlight for me, with plenty of on-site parking and a beautiful setting. Kudos to the staff and owners for creating such a great experience. Well done!"

"The Vibe Balham isn’t exactly traditional date territory. It’s far out, deeply uncool and could be better looking. Entering The Exhibit with mixed expectations, you may find yourself subconsciously reaching for your taxi app as you wait for your date, wondering if this was a bit of a punchy shout. Bear with me The Exhibit is a bar-meets-diner-meets-cinema venue, the sort of artsy place where the staff stay for years (it’s the ‘character’ of the place) and regulars know the deal days by heart. For a date night, bypass the ground floor bar completely and head straight up to the convincing 50s diner. Its vintage jukebox, low partitioned booths and burger n shake dominated menu...read more"
