"This place was such a little treat! We were desperate for some authentic Italian food. They work on meze sized portions... so the idea is that you order a few dishes to share. We ordered a variety of pastas and salads. I wouldn't say that it was cheap, but never is when converting into sterling. All in all, delicious with excellent service! We may have eaten the tomatoes which they placed on the table as decor... oops. I blame them for giving mixed messages around the decor."

"We dined here on holidays since the hotel was really close by. The food was amazing, plentiful and delicious. Service was nice and prompt. However the location has some challenges and it almost looked like the restaurant was closed due to the lighting conditions and this is not very inviting."

"Love this place for the service the food and price! To my mother in law to celebrate her birthday for the second year running (this time at her request) and for once ordered some pasta which was lovely if not a little to oily fir my tastes was informed by my partner that this was the Italian way, my daughter tried to beat her record of attempting to eat a entire pizza (she always has 2 slices left) but managed to be left with only one slice! my 2year old stuggled with their over generous 'half portion ' of pasta with my partner gleefully rubbing his hands as this would become a 'light snack ' later on! The staff are attentive but leave you alone. The entire tables food all arrived at the...read more"

"a family friend recommended me to take the other half to fumo for her birthday and I thought why not. I made a reservation during the work and could not have the time I would like, but I booked anyway. when we arrived at the reception, they acted as if they could not find my reservation and then we sat at a random table in the bar area. where the people were constantly passing by when we had eaten. I asked before our food arrived to be moved and was told that they would try to find us a table, but they never came back. I felt like I had been treated like a second class citizen from the moment I came in. I was very disappointed when I and my other half work were very hard and not often...read more"

"Give it a go.... I was a bit apprehensive about going to La Vita Spuntini having read some very mixed reviews however I really liked it. It 's a place to go for your 'tea ' as opposed to dinner (if you know what I mean) but the food was good and service quick it reminded me of La Tasca. I wouldn 't say it 's particularly cheap although we ordered more food than we needed. They recommend 3 or 4 dishes each but 5 between the two of us would have been enough, though that might depend on what you actually order. The place itself was very busy, there was a queue right out the door of people waiting to get a table. Given that our visit was outside Uni term time, that must say something. All in...read more"

"Arrived at 12.30 for an opentable booking. Lots of staff lounging around the bar and deli aisles. We are eventually shown to a table after waiting to be noticed by the several waiter looking types behind the bar immediately in front of us. Sit anywhere! It was not busy. The lunch menu was not on til 1 so we wandered around outside through the vacant emptiness of a not yet completed City Island and came back after 10 minutes. Could we have two **** Mary’s please? Oh no the cocktail waiter is not here til 1! Obviously the numerous staff milling around languidly were not authorised to grab some vodka tomato juice pepper etc and stick them in a glass with some ice. We left immediately and went to a nice Italian place down the road where the single waiter produced two very decent **** Mary’s when asked. We had the curious sense that “The City Grocer” was a simulation, a lifestyle prop for the property development company, about as authentic as the bar with the cappuccino machine in one’s local branch of Foxtons. The food might be great but we will never know as we won’t be going back. We will stick to real restaurants with actual waiters who will assist you in any way they can"

"Went here randomly as the nearest place to where I met a business partner... and was blown away by the food quality and service. The staff were fantastic attentive and engaging, and clearly very experienced. The price seemed impossibly good for such high quality meals, with very decent portion sizes. The spicy chicken penne was amazing. The tomatoes tasted very real and the aroma reminded me of my Mediterranean heritage. The pizzas looked amazing too, freshly made on site from scratch, baked in view of the seating area, and a very good size considering the price and attention to detail. No silent adding of tips to the bill was the icing on the cake."

"aaahhh, La Pappardella....There's nothing I can say that can give their food justice...I've known La Pappardella for years, though I haven't been there for a while, until recently, where my husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary. So we went there full of hopes for a delicious, romatic evening. And such evening we've had.We were greeted by two of their staff and even though we have booked a table, they gave us a free choice to sit wherever we wanted. The restaurant is small but they do have some sitting downstairsin and in the back garden in the summer. We've ordered a nice bottle of white wine. The choice on the menu is endless. Anything from pasta through risotto to pizzas and salads. We started off with grilled prawns and carpaccio. Now, I'm not a big fan of sea food, but I scoffed up almost all of my husband's starter. Carpaccio: tender and full of flavour. For main, my hubby chose risotto. That was the biggest plate i have seen while eating out. It was rich and creamy with fresh chicken and tender veg. I went for a lobster spaghetti. A bit extravagant, but it was a special occasion and I just wanted to compare London's lobster to the one we had in St Kitts. Well, I was not dissapointed. A huge plate of pasta (though it was slightly over-cooked and i like mine a bit tenter) in a rich, fresh tomato and a hint of a chilli sauce and there, on top, lay the lobster in its full glory: cut in quarters. It was delicious and... messy.... I never had to play with tools like this before, as previously I had my lobster shelled. But it was so much fun to get dirty.Ice-cream based desserts were the perfect finish to a lovely meal. At the ned, we received complimentary shots of lemon flavoured course meal for with bottle of wine and service we have paid which is an absolute bargain for the quality of food and service you'll receive in return.I love that little place and we just keep coming back for more.Buon apetito!"

"The staff at the restaurant were very helpful when it came to taking our food order. We were given a menu, but when the server arrived, they abruptly mentioned that the items we chose were not included in our voucher. We only decided to stay because we had almost expired the date on the voucher. Unfortunately, the quality of the food itself was not good."
