"Where do I start... I 'm going to be really honest, this was my first and last time here. First off we were promised a live music which turned out to be more on the lines of mumbling some lines. The atmosphere was drab and non existent. The food was cold and tasteless. Most of my friends that went (12+ we couldn 't finish our meals as meat was uncooked and carbs (rice chips were still frozen. We paid £30pp for a belly dancer, live music and a set menu, which is fair enough. The belly dancer was outstanding as always and was entertaining. Couldn 't say the same about the service and fixtures. We asked for water a number of times and was then presented with a plastic water bottle which wasn 't very clean with tap water and was told to share this across the table. We were not impressed. The reason for this was they had run out of jugs (btw no-one had jugs or food for that matter. Timely delivery of food, didn 't exist. We got to the restaurant at 19:30, we had some drinks caught up ordered. Starters came out at 20:50. We then entertained by shouting in the kitchen and what seemed to be a disagreement between all staff, other diners at this point started walking out without eating anything as they had waited so long. Then at 21:57 we were graced with our main meal which was half hot half cold. Rice was pretty much frozen, meat was hot but as mentioned before, some was uncooked. Not too mention the smallest lime in my 'strawberry daiquiri ' which has literally no taste. We you can tell from the pictures these were not happy customers a lot of food was left... Yes a plastic container for my sweet and sour sauce instead of the promised aioli sauce. Bearing on mine the whole time we sat with our coats and scarves on as the AC was turned up so high our hands were turning blue. In conclusion, if you want to pay through the nose for cold, uncooked and unfriendly stay them please come enjoy (sarcasm ."

"Such a lovely way to start the New Year with a lunch visit to one of my favourite restaurants in London. The front desk provides a warm welcome though I wished that the “jacket tie” dress code for men had been sustained. A well-proportioned man was hovering at the front sporting an over-large zipped up windcheater and open neck shirt. Not at all smart so I hope he was apprehended before he entered the restaurant! What next? Baseball caps on the wrong way round? Back to the good old days of proper standards please. Thanks to ever helpful House Manager, Michael Stokes, we had a delightful table which provided ample screening for our business discussion and the service was discrete but always experienced and timely. The ambience continues to exude quiet luxury. I feel the Seasonal Menu is terrific value important in a tight and high tax economy) with 3-courses offered for £47.95. My starter choice of half a dozen Carlingford Irish Rock Oysters was superb. Freshly shucked mouthfuls of sweet salty pleasure with a contrasting red wine vinegar and onion dressing. Absolute heaven on a cold winter’s day. From there, I moved to the Carving Trolley and myriad slices of tender honey roasted gammon with creamy mashed potatoes. Spinach £7.00) and French Beans £6.50) were extra but worth it. Finally, we both had the gorgeous Bread Butter Pudding which was light, sweet and sitting in a moat of delicious custard. The wine list is imperious and impelling but not so easy to find a value for money midday measure. I opted for the Tuscan Le Volte Dell’ Ornellaia 2018 for £98.00 which drank well. Plenty of fruit flavour and not too heavy. Overall the bill was a meaty £274.16 for 2 with service now at 15% but this is a very special restaurant."

"Absolutely terrible service. After being a customer for a very long time I had noticed a massive decline in standards over the past 18 months especially. There is no consistency from the chefs Sometimes the food has been nice then more often lately it has been very substandard.. There is ALWAYS something missing off home delivery orders too. My last order took about 2 hours to arrive and was completely stone cold and also had half of the order missing. It was totally inedible. I called up and politely asked if I could return it and get a refund. I was told they were very busy and he apologised and said that he would just replace my complete meal if I called another time but couldn’t refund me. I understand businesses are struggling since covid so agreed to this. The complete meal went in the bin. This evening I called and explained I chose tonight as it was a quieter evening for them and as I was eating alone asked for a lesser order as my replacement. I even asked for a half portion of onion bhajis (even though I had previously paid for a full portion and they didn’t even deliver them) He took my full order which only came to £14 and then had the audacity to say I could have a £4 discount!!! He actually said I needed to pay £10. He remembered our previous conversation but said he was no longer replacing any meals. He was really rude and completely refused to honour his promise. I assume that must be because he has so many complaints and unhappy customers now. His attitude was awful. I was prepared to try again but now II will NEVER use the place again. Don’t waste your money here."

"Today I went to @georgesfishbar In #southwoodford which isn’t just your usual fish and chip bar, they also serve the yummiest Greek Cypriot food too George’s was established in 2006 has since won so many different awards for their food- which you can view on their website. On arrival I was greeted by the owner himself George who made me feel so welcome. The shop was very busy with queues out of the door but After trying their food I could sure see why ! Tonight I had their chicken Gyros, Chips, Halloumi, Greek Salad, Cod, my parents had a chicken souvlakia each. All of the food was just so delicious !! The gyros was the best I’ve ever had. The meat was ever so fresh and tender and the actual gyros in pitta was bursting with so much flavour. The chips were the best I’ve ever had too and my parents also agreed. They had a gorgeous sweet taste to them and were cooked to pure perfection and trust me it’s definitely possible to mess chips up. The chips were also lovely thick just how I love them to be. The chicken souvlakia was also gorgeous the chicken was very tender there was plenty of it as was there plenty of salad. The fish was also delicious extremely meaty and more fish than batter which is what I love as usually most fish bars tend to give you mainly batter and hardly any fish!! All of @georgesfishbar food is 10/10 from me and extremely high quality as well as huge portions. You can definitely see how much love and effort goes into their food that all of the ingredients used are of the highest quality. The fish bar itself is also spotlessly clean and covid safe. I definitely recommend everyone to try @georgesfishbar whether it’s for just fish and chips or Greek Cypriot food or both. You won’t be disappointed ! @georgesfishbar is currently undergoing Renovation but will be open fully very soon when restaurants are allowed to reopen for seating inside. For now @georgesfishbar deliver obviously do take away. "I reserved the function room for a party of about 25 people. The space was perfect, beautifully arranged with its own private bar, and we were able to decorate and play our own music through the sound system. The staff were fantastic, the drink prices were very reasonable, and everyone had a fantastic time. However, there were a few issues that I want to mention for anyone else planning to book. With better communication before the event, I believe these could have been easily resolved. The venue was very helpful and responsive during the booking process, but after I confirmed my reservation, I had trouble getting responses to my emails or phone calls until the day of the event. This led to them not being able to coordinate dinner orders as I had requested. There were not enough menus for the whole party, so wait staff handed them out sporadically, leading to a very staggered food service. Some guests waited hours for their meals, which was embarrassing as the host. Additionally, the rounds of drinks that I had pre-ordered to be served as a surprise throughout the evening were announced near the beginning of the event due to an internal miscommunication. We also had to vacate the room for a downstairs booth at midnight instead of the requested 2am, which should have been clarified in advance. Despite these issues, it was still a great night with wonderful memories. I would consider booking again, but would recommend eating beforehand next time."
