"I am very surprised at some of the reviews here or maybe I live on another planet! Possibly the best Italian I have had in London! Really good. Small restaurant in Hampstead, limited tables which are very close together. I went for a very late lunch at 15:30 on a Sunday afternoon which was a good idea as it was much quieter then. Staff were super friendly. Service was very efficient. Lovely cosy and homely! Felt like being back in Italy. Big selection on the menu from pizza to pasta, meat, fish, desserts and more. I went with the angel hair pasta with, olive oil, garlic, chilli, king prawns, cherry tomato and courgettes. Divine beyond words! Generous in portion size, tasty, well presented, freshly made and each mouthful was a delight. So good. I had a soft drink with it. I don't drink alcohol but they have an extensive wine menu too. I gladly polished off my lunch. Clean restaurant. Nice atmosphere and delicious lunch. Reasonably priced for the area. Highly recommend."

"I could have sworn I had checked out this amazing place before, so it really speaks volumes that I’ve now eaten here for the fourth time that I can recall. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly, and the food is fantastic. The English breakfast with unique Italian-style ingredients is a firm and consistent favorite, but everything on the menu is a safe choice for delicious meals. My desire to explore new dining options and enjoy the incredible variety that Cardiff has to offer is what keeps us from coming here more often. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. This review is specifically for the Cathays location, but we've also tried their other restaurants, and the quality remains consistent."

"Lovely historic building, not overly large so space limited and would recommend booking during busy periods. Very friendly and attentive staff who also had a good knowledge of the building history which was nice to hear. Went for a late lunch and took advantage of their fixed price two course menu, a couple of cocktails and some bread and olives. Very large bowl of olives which was nice, they were pitted and we do prefer non pitted as tend to be more flavourful, however these were still enjoyable and a good sized portion. Bread was reasonable but nothing outstanding. Bruschetta nice, sweet tomatoes and fresh, street pizza found a little sloppy and a bit bland personally. Mains an Arrabiata sauce they kindly changed penne to spaghetti for my partner, pasta nicely cooked, sauce could have used a little more chilli, simple but tasty overall. I had the Carbonara which tasted creamy but as I had a little bit of a cold I'm not sure if it actually had a touch of cream but it certainly wasn't a full cream base which was good. I did find it although rich slightly bland in both the pancetta and the cheese, again I had a slight cold but expected the flavours to be a bit more punchy. Couldn't manage a dessert but we did both go for a liqueur coffee, myself a Scottish and my partner an Italian, both were pleasant and well made. The two cocktails as well had a decent measure of alcohol, quite well balanced flavour wise and whilst I've had much better they were certainly enjoyable. Definitely would give it a try again, sniffle free to give a fair shot. The staff and the very reasonable price for lunch would make a visit attractive, but would also like to go for an evening meal and a more relaxed experience."

"excellent dining experience” 5 out of 5 stars rated on 15 november 2013 new although it is ideal for a pre-theater menu when they visit the hippodrome, eating in milano is worthy to take over the time because it is very good in the did. the menu offers a great choice regarding the price including a fixed tariff pre-theatre that my partner enjoyed very much. as glutton I could not resist the daily special of lobster linguine and I cannot resist that milano was from a generous amount and high quality; both courses were delicious. the tables are beautifully designed and the service is friendly and attentive. I have absolutely no criticism to make (I didn't like the desserts, but I don't like Italian desserts and can hardly blame them for being authentic! . as a pre-oper menu (especially if the opera is Italian! "On the plus side, the service was very quick, but it made us feel rushed. As soon as I finished my meal, they immediately took my plate, even though my partner was still eating! When they cleared our starter plates, they asked if we wanted our main courses right away or if we preferred a break. Assuming our food was freshly prepared, we opted for a wait of about 10 minutes, but to our surprise, they brought our mains out within 30 seconds. We were in and out in about 40 minutes, which included a drink, a starter, and a main course. It was not the relaxed dining experience and fresh food we were hoping for! Since it does tend to be busy during the day, perhaps the food and service are better then, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for dinner."

"Firstly I would like to say that this restaurant has just been refurbished, and it didn’t feel like an Italian restaurant, more like a cafe at the beach somewhere! It felt very sparse and most Italian restaurants I e been to have proper tablecloths on the table but these were plastic and I noticed one table it was tapped up underneath, in my opinion it needs to be made more warmly and have more of a family feel. The food was really nice,although I would advise anyone to make sure they double check their order as I chose chicken in a sauce really nice which came with vegetables but I also asked for a separate portion of potatoes, when it arrived I just had chicken with a few cut up potatoes and a very very small garnish of salad ! I mentioned this to the waitress who had taken our order and she said I know but the chef had given you extra salad !! Sorry but salad is not vegetables , it clearly said on the menu it came with vegetables. Having said about the above issue, the meals we all had were nice and the staff gave us a very warm welcome and because of the blip they said we could have a free pudding…..not sure if we all did or it was just mine but I never see the bill as we were treated to this. To finish the evening off we were given a lovely limoncello shot. We would definitely go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening in your restaurant"

"I went with my Italian woman to ciao napoli to lunch in the last summer. the food was excellent and the service was also excellent. I want to go back. "Very pleasant Italian food.Quite small so very noisy when full plus very loud music. Why oh why do Italian restaurants never give you enough Parmesan and have condiments on the table. There was too much tomato sauce on the bolognese and a shame they could not make an affagato,as it is only a scoop of icecream with a shot of espresso added.Indeed all the deserts were not homemade. The pizzas were excellent. The waiter is charming and attentive."

"experiences have been very hit or miss. The sushi rolls are decently priced and fairly tasty, but I was disappointed with the quality of the imitation crab meat. It tasted more like a poor imitation of fake crab rather than the real thing. The delivery was on time and the packaging was secure, but I can't say I'll be ordering from Urawa again. Overall, a disappointing experience."

"This was our first visit to Connubio since we recently moved to Crouch End. We were very warmly greeted, seated, and shown the menus. The waiter a young guy with glasses was really friendly and helpful, giving us good recommendations for white wine to start us off (the Frascato). We then ordered the calamari to start; two lamb cutlets, a king prawn pasta, the sea bass as mains; and a side of mixed leaf salad. The calamari was delicious super fresh and soft and tasty. The pasta and sea bass were great too but we found the lamb cutlets to be disappointing. They were rather bland and without any depth or flavour, including the mashed potato with olive pate. On paper they sounded great but the dish didn't deliver. Our mixed salad also took so long to make an appearance (it still hadn't arrived when we were 3/4 through our mains) that we decided to cancel it We fed these two shortcomings back to the owner who genuinely seemed crestfallen about this, as it is his family run business. During the main meal, we had a wonderful red wine with the meal again recommended by the young waiter the Don Vito Prestige Salento. To round things off, we had the tiramisu. Oh. My. God. It was so good there's only one better that I've ever had. It was very light and we'll balanced between the coffee and the liqueur. Not overly sweet. Overall I'd recommend going to Connubio da Fabio. It has a lovely and classy vibe, friendly staff (although the female waitress tonight really just couldn't care less), and overall really great food. Just a shame about the bland lamb and the salad which had to be cancelled but everything else was great. The owner was kind enough to offer us a gesture of goodwill for our feedback. I will definitely come back again to try more of their food and wine!"
