"This is a very traditional and very nice café. We stopped here and we got double egg on toast and it was absolutely delicious. I had a coffee, it was very nice but slightly strong for me but I’m sure most people would like a strong coffee. I know it was very very good. For two double egg on toast, one tea, one coffee it came to £21. The staff are very nice and the toilet and the area were very clean. Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4"

"We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was delicious and reminded us of a home-cooked breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly. We personally thanked the chef for the great meal. "Went there for quick lunch and it was a little bit disappointed. Spend £3.50 on a coronation chicken sandwich and £1.10 on a can of juice. The baguette was dry like it was lying there for more than 2 days. The lady did not used a gloves and cut the ends of the baguette not sure why probobly cause it was too dry to eat. That really ruined my baguette. Took it on take away and I was all ready too far to talk to stay about it. A great name for a place and lovely staff however it would be nice to see gloves on staff hands when they are preparing the food and clean cutting boards."

"My wife and I had booked a Chinese meal on the 28th September and were looking for somewhere to have some drinks prior to the meal and my wife spotted the Mercat opposite the Chinese which was absolutely perfect for us. We ordered a Cider and a Peroni and the barmaid Stacey told us to find a table and she would bring the drinks over to us. Whilst enjoying our drinks we kept seeing lovely meals being taken to vsrious tables and they all looked exceptional, very well presented and you could clearly see that everyone was really enjoying them and the lovely background music being played. We both agreed that we would return on the followimg evening and try the food as it really looked too good to miss and we were certainly not disappointed. After a couple of drinks each we both decided to go for the fish and chips and we both agreed that it was the nicest fish and chips we had had for years, everything very fresh and so tasty. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Sauvignon blanc with the meal and my wife chose the cheese platter with olives, girkin and biscuits and I chose the icecream for our sweets, absolutely perfect. Unfortunately the lovely Stacey was not working on the evening but we did have the lovely Scott, they are a super team, so efficient, friendly, courteous and obliging. Since returning home we have never stopped talking about this wonderful evening, we both loved Edinburgh and this restaurant really was the icing on the cake. We are already talking about returning to the City and returning to this beautiful restaurant, what a find! . Well done to you all and thankyou!"

"Absolutely shocking service from this establishment. Ordered through Uber eats order 2 sandwich and 2 lentil soups. Delivery came and all the soup was opened and spilled everywhere in the bag and socked the sandwiches. My first thoughts was delivery driver did not handle it properly and when I caught up with him and asked he said the lady did not mention to him. I then called he cafe up and explained all she said was call Uber eats and get refund. She did not even apologise for what has happened and instead of taking little responsibility or owning up to it lying and blaming drivers. I explained they have to get better packaging or holders for them so o does not happen for anyone else no response and I hanged up the phone. Shame I have no picture otherwise I would have posted that up."

"he personal was beautiful and has included our needs. we came into a large group and they could put us and do this with a smile. my only chewing gum would be the odd proportion of yogurt on granola (even tee spoon yogurt on all pieces of granola). Of course, it was dry although my friend did not have the mut to ask me so that it is really on her.Worth a visit and quite charming I would say."

"eating is great, but the delivery times are shocking young. in the last weeks ordered a few times and every time I waited well over two hours. the brunch ordered at 11 o'clock in the morning and only after almost 2. nearly a three-hour waiting period I finally missed when I had to go to work at 1. should not accept orders when they are these busy young"

"The food at this restaurant is good and the prices are reasonable. I got a panini and chips for 6 pounds, which was alright. I also ordered food for my friends and everyone enjoyed their meals. The salt and chilli wrap was particularly tasty. The salad box was okay, but could have had more filling. Overall, we all really enjoyed our meals and found the staff to be friendly. The service was prompt and efficient. I would rate the food and service a 5, and the atmosphere a 3."

"I love the coffee from here. have posted as 3 stars, although, as the personal has changed, they do not pay much attention to my order. I ask for sugar in my coffee (what they say they will do for me) and there is either not given in the coffee or they will put it in the milk only after entering. please for those of us who like a really mixed coffee: shoot the sugar before the coffee, so it is not easy to sink to the bottom of the cup and the second half of its cup-like eclectic."

"The food here was really top quality. I ordered a veggie breakfast as pictured. The hash browns had bits of chive in which really added an extra dimension of flavour whilst the sourdough bread had a lovely crunch to it. Every component was cooked to perfection, however I believe the portion sizes could be slightly larger when ordering a breakfast I imagined more than one sausage. This being said, I have no complaints about the quality of the food or the service. The waiting staff were very friendly and it was a comfortable and relaxed environment. I would return despite the portions."
