"Just wanted to write this review so that others may consider alternative venue when they are faced with the choice at a very difficult and sad time. This hotel gets plenty of business from nearby funeral directors I assume because of is location but they are uncompassionate, unprofessional and unconcerned about your experience. When we arrived after leaving the funeral directors to book the reception I stood waiting for a period of time to be attended to. Eventually an employee on his break went through and got a staff member. She had me stand at the reception, recite details showing no empathy for our situation, when booking my father in laws at the Seamill Hydro we were sat away from the reception and treated in a caring way. When we arrived at the time booked after the funeral we stood at the reception for a period of time before being shown through. No offer of condolences offered. As for the drinks on arrival, we waited a good 10 minutes before any orders taken missing out 4 guests. Eventually food came out slowly. We were given one coffee/tea and the staff left. We tried to find staff to see if we could have more coffee and order more drinks but staff found not be found. I had over estimated the number of people who attended but even though we paid for food for more people my guests were not offered anymore sandwiches, sausage rolls etc. When settling the bill I was of course charged for the food/drinks that never appeared and was not asked if everything was ok. A basic courtesies in the hospitality business. Please consider alternatives before booking here, it is easy money for them and they do not care n anyway about the customer. I contacted the Lynnhurst Hotel 3 days ago and unsurprisingly they have not responded."

"Was struggling to find somewhere for a Sunday lunch before heading home from our weekend on the Isle of Wight. With 7 of us it was a challenge. Found this option and website wasn't overly inspiring. In reality the outlook of the marina was superb. The food was tasty and good portions but the most noticeable thing was the level of service. Not only that but the genuine smiles and helpfulness of the staff was first class. Great outside play area for the kids. Struggling to think what it lacks!"

"I ordered the char-grilled lamb at the restaurant and found it to be extremely salty. The excessive saltiness could be harmful to one's health, so they should consider reducing the amount of salt used in their dishes. Additionally, the price was quite high, almost comparable to that of a paesano. It seems like the restaurant may be targeting drunk customers leaving the pub who may not pay much attention to the prices. However, as someone who had just completed a long and healthy cycle, I found the dish to be disappointing."

"Had my birthday meal here last night there was 9 of us, the food was outstanding, so fresh and tasty not 1 complaint from anyone, lots of empty plates from starters to main courses, food has been brilliant anytime we have came here, had a lovely strawberry daiquiri which I loved, only 1 issue and that was the length of time we had to wait on food coming and drinks, only 2 lovely boys working the floor/bar and we did have to wait a considerable amount of time for drinks, and quite some time from the kitchen from the time we had starter till main course, cannot fault the staff at all as they were doing their best but maybe a little more staff in as there was a good few tables full for meals. Still 5 tho as everything was lovely and yes the embarrassing bringing out of the birthday cake and singing to me as well happened. Xxx"

"We had a great family meal here today with our toddler. The staff were lovely and accommodating. I asked for some cucumber with my daughter's meal, which I was happy to pay for, but they added it at no extra charge. Was also pleasantly surprised that meals for under fives are free with an adult meal. The food was delicious and the portions were huge! Glad to see the pub open and busy again, and with such a warm atmosphere. Vegetarian options: A great veggie and vegan menu with way more choices than most pubs. Not just your standard veggie burger or sausages. My partner had a three bean chilli and I had a veggie stir-fry. Both were really good and big portions too! Kid-friendliness: Very child friendly. A spotless highchair was provided and all the staff were lovely with our daughter. It was also free for her to eat with one adult meal so that was a great bonus. Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"Only had the one waiter on duty and was turning people away at the door and only two tables were occupied so we were eating in an empty room, we had the ribeye which was quite expensive and to be honest tasted more like rump and the blunt steak knives didn’t help, rest of the food was tasty enough."

"This was the third time we came to the Smoke House and I have to say firstly the positive points: Very nice clean restaurant Ambiance is very good Staff very friendly Not so good points: I came for a family occasion and my wife, children and I were taken into a back area seating when there was plenty at the front and this area was cold (not sure why we were seated there) Starter of Italian sausage was warm, not too hot, and sauce tasted like it was from a jar. Main meal took way too long to arrive (The waitress apologised for the very slow service) Ordered a 1 1/2 rack of ribs which were over cooked or old meat not sure which but even my 10 year old who loves eating ribs said it was chewy and tasted awful (if they had been as they should have, then probably the waiting time may have not been such an issue) I was not asked how I liked my burger cooked, but to be fair I never said either, but it arrived like it had been blow torched to a cinder and the lettuce on it was old discoloured (I did mention this to the waiter on the way out) The order of nachos classic was more just nachos with very little of anything else. Now, to be fair, i would say that the last time times we visited the waiting time was not so long and only issue we had was that we had to point out we were overcharged which was corrected immediately. The staff are extremely friendly so this is more about the restaurant experience as a whole. Way to expensive for the quality of food. Thank you"

"THIS WAS MY FIRST TRIP TO A TGI FRIDAY RESTAURANT. I WAS SHOCKED AT THE OVERPRICED MEALS ON THEIR MENU. THE QUALITY OF THE MEALS WAS POOR, I WOULD SAY TO MAXIMISE PROFIT. MEALS NO BETTER THAN MCDONALD'S BUT COSTING MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH. QUANTITY IS ALSO SKIMPY ESPECIALLY FRENCH FRIES. I WAS SO ANGRY AT HAVING TO PAY £106 POUNDS FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR ADULTS AND A TWO YEAR OLD BABY AND WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE DRINKS OR DESERTS. I WOULD HAVE COMPLAINED AND WALKED OUT WHEN I SAW WHAT I WAS PAYING FOR BUT FELT CONSTRAINED BY THE FAMILY. "Booked pre theatre dinner and it was far too busy for the poor waiting staff to cope. No time to get our dessert. Waited 45 mins for main course. Asked for no bacon in Caesar salad and it arrived with lettuce, bacon and chicken with dressing. Very expensive for a bowl of lettuce and couldn’t eat the bacon. Partner had fish and no complaints there. Didn’t complain to the poor waitress as it wasn’t her fault at all. Poor management and squeezing in far too many tables before theatre. We did get an apology but I’m sure every table got that. Wouldn’t put me off going again just not for a pre theatre dinner as they are full to capacity."

"we went to my birthday lunch, my sisters, and I went all to order their amazing plate of tweeper rings, bbq wing, grilled mushrooms with cheese, garlic brot. ok it's a lot! then the steaks with beautiful kartoffels with garlic layers with cheese upstairs I had thought this mac and cheese) and a mushroom sauce! the drinks were ok would not say amazing except the skyberry soda was nice would not go for the earthy or mango. in serious had no room for dessert, that was disappointing as it all saw amazing! then the service was good/very clean and spacious. was my first time that it would be happy to go back with my girls."
