"best authentic pizza in edinburgh. if they are looking for the best pizza outside italian – they avoid the “pizza house” chains (the jamies ersatz italian and the inflated egos and the consuming feeling of the service in the small Italian delicacies, the lothian road and hannover street are popping up (think about Macho-Italian versions of missrsham without the spirit) there is also a large selection of pizza alternatives: pasta etc. but as a veggie I tend to keep with what the jolly made famous. if they want a real bargain and must seriously fill with the day they can be a three cure lunch for £6.10 (rather choice including pizza, which must be the best worth in the city. a decent bottle of wine is about £15 – the house red/white served in carafes is considerably cheaper, what if it is not fussy, is okay. I trust no one who is sneaky over the jolly – and these people exist. okay, okay, the place is big, bright, busy, filled with kitsch, and may always seem so slightly chaotic – not fooling, the place runs like a well-oiled machine. but that’s why it’s so authentic italian – there are couples who sit next to big parties “in for the Playhouse”, local individual guides “in for their tea”, enthusiastic tourists and the occasional inebriated local politicians (it’s beguished that alex salmond gets his pizzas delivered from here, but I have actually not seen “the pie man” sitting on the space! a traitor in the jolly?"

"We made a reservation for Saturday night at The Shack after booking on Friday. They have a fantastic cocktail deal offering a mix of traditional and frozen cocktails at 2 for £12, which seems to be available all the time. This is great because you don't have to order two of the same cocktails to get the deal, perfect for when you and your partner have different preferences. We dined in the shack and the food was amazing, just as we had imagined from the delicious smells wafting past. I had a pulled pork burger with sweet potato fries, while my fiancé ordered mac and chips with regular fries. The portions were generous and reasonably priced. We noticed they also offer a takeout service, which we will definitely use if we forget to book ahead. The staff were all fantastic, adhering to Covid restrictions by ensuring everyone used the NHS track and trace system. They were attentive and friendly, a rare find especially on a busy Saturday night. We sat in the garden, which was filled with heaters and fairy lights. They even have a crazy golf course at the back that we'll have to try one day. The atmosphere in the garden was lively and enjoyable. As we walked back through the restaurant after leaving, we noticed the vibe was completely different inside, but in a good way. It had a more elegant feel, giving off the vibe of a stylish cocktail bar. Overall, we couldn't fault The Shack and we're thrilled to have it right on our doorstep in Twickenham."
